Often we hear about how a piece of media was ruined because the higher ups demanded stuff and the creators couldn't show their full vision. A few examples:

I Am Legend (2007) - Originally ended with Robert learning he was the monster killing all other "monsters". Changed to Robert dying and a cure being created because higher ups demanded it.
The Owl House - Season 3 was good overall, but you can tell the creators wanted a full season. Disney didn't give them one, which is why it only got 3 long episodes instead.

But then sometimes the studio interfering can actually make the product better. For example in Ren & Stimpy, much of the creativity in that show comes from that John K. wasn't allowed to use his most extreme ideas. Instead he came up with creative compromises that worked and made the show funnier. But then when John K. could go all out, like in Adult Party Cartoon or Cans Without Labels, it just sucked and the humor was awful. John K. needed restrictions to be good.

What types of media are this? But before you comment, please don't write examples like this:

1. No comments like "Probably all media, you only hear about the bad ones" because that is a boring response.
   
2. No Star Wars comments whatsoever. We have already heard "George Lucas bad" a billion times, we don't need to hear it a billion more times.

Other than that, write whatever you want.

So lately I was looking to go back in time to pretend I am at a time period where the PS3 is not quite ready for launch, but it’s almost there.

Like what I am trying to say is that I wanted to look back at that particular era of gaming to figure out what made people interested in wanting to get the system as I know it’s not quite 20 years old yet, but it’s just that I was curious on what made people back then get one since it had no games available, and it was really expensive to buy again during launch date.

In another edition of “Everything is 3x more expensive because reasons”, it seems Gamestop has a planned price hike for PS5 pros. A REFURBISHED one will cost $1499.99.

I have accepted that the ps6 is going over $1000 (wasn’t getting one anyway), but I guess it’ll be $2000? Least they’re just as unaffordable as pcs are now.

And to anyone trying to get one for GTA6, I promise you GTA6 is not worth that much money. No game is. It’ll be just fine on base ps5 if you absolutely have to play it.

This is Nellie Oleson Dalton from Little House on the Prairie (My mom's favorite show); she grew up to be a spoiled brat and a bully due to how her Karen of a Mom raised her. She served as a rival and nemesis to the show’s protagonist, Laura Ingalls.

A theatrical feature-length anime adaptation of Space Battleship Yamato, titled Space Battleship Yamato Root 2199, has officially announced. Hideaki Anno will serve as planner, executive producer and director, with Yutaka Izubuchi serve as co-director.

Space Battleship Yamato began its TV anime broadcast on October 6, 1974, and today marks the 52nd anniversary of its debut. It is a story depicting the adventures of the Space Battleship Yamato -- humanity’s last hope -- and its crew, and since the broadcast of the first TV anime series, it has spawned numerous spin-offs.

Anno has said he grew up profoundly influenced by Space Battleship Yamato. He served as planner and producer for the work’s 50th anniversary project in 2024, which involved screening and exhibition events. Izubuchi also served as chief director and screenwriter for Space Battleship Yamato 2199.

Animation production will be handled by Production I.G and Studio Khara. The teaser visual features the Space Battleship Yamato Root 2199 logo and depicts the Yamato preparing to launch from a devastated land into space. Anno commented, “I am working on this not only to fulfill the dreams I had as a boy, but because I want to continue creating Yamato imbued with our prayers and wishes for the next generation and our own generation. That is the feeling with which I am making it.”

After attending a workshop on how to write and sell a Hallmark movie, he decides to use the industry-approved Hallmark formula to tell this seemingly drab story and increase his movie’s appeal. But his foundation soon begins to crumble—literally and figuratively—as he struggles to balance artistic freedom with the realities of the modern film industry.

Could be good if you want something Nathan Fielder-esque while waiting for You Can See Everything. The two worked together on his earlier HBO show, How To With John Wilson. I highly recommend watching the extended trailer for it.

Because sometimes the "good guys" have their own little helper allies in arms. Unfortunately for them, when it's time for the stakes to rise they're the first on the chopping block.

While not actively bloody, the way Clone Troopers keep getting brutally killed in the Clone Wars 2008 show is messed up. Like this trooper on the right that got trap chopped up into many pieces in the Citadel or the LAAT Pilot whose ship glass and helmet got cracked by B2 Rocket Droids and before being tossed into the vacuum of space or that other 212th Division trooper that gets maules and devoured by the hairy land piranhas on Ryloth or that other 212th that gets either eaten by zombie Geonosians or mass infected with their zombie worms.

Just the type of ends that really wants to make you protect your friendlies.

You can have a separate one for Woolie and for Pat. One for John as well, if you feel like you know his tastes well enough.

Basically, what ONE piece of media would you recommend with the understanding that the recommendee could force you to experience anything in media they've experienced. So whatever your recommendation is, it needs to be worth you potentially having to play through Omikron the Nomad Soul.

For Woolie, I would recommend playing SWTOR. I genuinely think he'd enjoy playing through the class stories and the idea of him playing an MMO that Pat hasn't played tickles me.

For Pat, I'd recommend watching Gary and His Demons. He's mentioned liking Venture Bros and Rick and Morty (before the fandom ruined it). Gary and His Demons is that kind of energy with a demon hunter anime premise and a hefty dose of Canadian. I also think some of the later themes in Season 2 would resonate well with him.

Remember when Obi-Wan said Darth Vader fell to the Dark Side because he wasn't as good a teacher as Yoda? Well Yoda's student, Count Doku, fell to the Dark Side too. And Obi-Wan's student ended up killing Doku so he was an even better teacher than Yoda.

David Zaslav Shares Farewell Video to Warner Bros. Discovery Employees

David Zaslav, four and a half years after closing the debt-burdened deal that formed Warner Bros. Discovery, is bidding farewell to the company’s employees as it is about to get swallowed up by David Ellison’s Paramount — to create a media giant saddled with even more debt.

Zaslav, president and CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, shared a video with employees Monday expressing gratitude for their hard work and creativity over the years. (The video, viewed by Variety, is available only on WBD’s internal portal.) Zaslav will exit with the megamerger of Paramount and WBD, scheduled to close Oct. 6, with the new Ellison-run company adopting the name Skydance Corp.

In the video, Zaslav sits alone in a director’s chair in the Loft warehouse at Warner Bros. Studios’ Ranch facility in Burbank, California.

“For me, it’s been a great honor to be alongside all of you,” Zaslav says, speaking to the camera in the 3-minute video. “I hope you take pride in what you’ve built, what you’ve created, and the role you’ve played in shaping an extraordinary history.”

Zaslav’s video includes a montage of Warner Bros. Discovery’s greatest hits, including clips from “The Pitt,” “The Lego Movie,” “Barbie,” “One Battle After Another,” “Dune,” “Hacks,” “Friends,” “The House of the Dragon,” “White Lotus,” “Abbott Elementary,” “Sinners,” Discovery’s Shark Week and (of course!) “Harry Potter,” as well as shots from CNN and WBD’s sports programming. According to a company source, Zaslav wanted to share his goodbye message as a video rather than a text memo in order to capture the visuals.

“I can’t wait to see what you do in the years ahead,” Zaslav says. “I’m so grateful for all these years at Warner Bros. Discovery, for the wonderful experiences creating content, telling stories and getting to know so many of you.”

Zaslav has been among the most highly compensated CEOs in the media biz. In 2025, his pay package totaled $165 million. That included a one-time grant of stock options valued at $109.6 million, which the company awarded to Zaslav on June 12, 2025, for his work on the company’s plan to split into two publicly traded entities (one housing WB’s HBO, HBO Max and studios business; the other largely composed of the linear TV network business along with Discovery+ and other assets). The WBD split into two companies did not proceed because of the deal to sell the company to Paramount Skydance.

When the Paramount-Warner Bros. merger closes, Zaslav is set to receive a “golden parachute” payout of at least $550 million.

Over the years, Zaslav and his lieutenants made job cuts across the company as they looked to reduce costs and improve operating efficiency. For full-year 2022, Warner Bros. Discovery had a pro-forma EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) loss of about $2.1 billion. In 2025, it generated EBITDA profit of $1.4 billion and has been on track for double-digit percentage growth in subscriber-related revenue growth in 2026.

Bit blatant a Captain America in space but kinda charming and we've already had a Captain of Britain, Canada, the Soviet Union so it's not like the worst angle to go for. Plus I do like a proper Skrull superhero, kinda wish it was Virtue but his story does sorta have a proper end as like a pacifist christian charity Superman so I can see why you'd rather not bring him back.

Launched back in September 2024, NBA 2K25 is the latest NBA game that is being pulled from digital stores. 2K will be pulling the game from purchase starting on October 30, 2026. Additionally, online servers will be shut down on January 1, 2027. As a result, the game's multiplayer modes and MyCareer, the game's single-player story mode, will become unplayable. MyCareer is linked to the game's online capabilities, as progression and the game's virtual currency are all dependent on a connection to the servers. If there are no servers, the mode becomes unplayable.

Those who purchase NBA 2K25 before October 30 will be able to freely download the game and play offline modes whenever they want. You can read 2K's statement on the matter below.

"As of January 1, 2027, you'll no longer be able to play multiplayer games or access any online game modes. MyCAREER and MyTEAM will no longer be available, and it will no longer be possible to earn Virtual Currency (VC). While you will still be able to enjoy Play Now, MyNBA, The W, and MyWNBA, any features that require a connection to 2K servers will be unavailable. This includes multiplayer, Online Leagues, and community sharing."
