A Message for the 60,000 animals suffering at Marshall BioResources
I have social anxiety. I’m an introvert. I don’t enjoy public speaking. And. I’ll do it every single time until every cage is empty.
Joining the March for Animals was an extremely empowering experience for me. I was joined with some amazing members from the Vegan Squad team.
We got blisters, I got some chafing, but none of it compares to the horrors the animals being tested on at Marshall Bio Resources. Please keep speaking and sharing this story until they close for good.
Uplifting Victory! [English] Government Drops Meat Mandate for Schools
peta.org.ukEngland will stop forcing schools to serve animal based foods from 2027 according to PETA UK:
..................
From September 2027, English schools are no longer required to serve meat and fish and dairy, and may meet students nutritional needs with plant based foods instead.
This move follows a campaign by PETA and a coalition of health experts, environmental groups, school caterers, MPs, and more than 50,000 supporters, including longtime PETA allies Paul, Mary and Stella McCartney and their organisation Meat Free Monday.
Better yet, the new standards also require schools to serve more pulses and restrict processed meat and dairy cheese, while encouraging meat-free days.

Rant I am so fed up with seeing non-vegans get outraged when animals that aren't raised for farming are mistreated.
The title pretty much says it all. I just needed to vent about this.
Every time I hear a non-vegan acting shocked by some random news around the mistreatment of a pet or a wild animal, I always want to ask them : "Why do you care ? You're not vegan. You don't care about animals, don't act like you do."
Crappy world.
EDIT :
This post was very raw and written in a moment of great anger. It did come from a part of me that struggles to have empathy for people because it is so hurt.
Now that I've calmed down, I'll try to rephrase what I was feeling. It is quite hard for me to explain it clearly, though, and I'm sorry about that.
I get frustrated with this specific behavior because it makes me see that people are able to feel bad for other animals but are unable to understand my concerns for farming animals. It hurts me so much to see that they are in fact capable of love and empathy but that they won't or can't give it to something that I find so important. A part of me would have felt more comfortable with believing that they just didn't have any empathy at all, you see? It would just make more sense, in a weird way.
All of this is very ironic because I used to be just like these people, of course. But sometimes, the pain makes me think unreasonably.
Anyways, any concern for any animal is of course welcome. I understand how my post could have upset some people and I'd like to apologize about that.

I'm starting to hate my non-vegan friends (which is to say, all of them). Anyone else?
Well, hate might be too harsh of a word. But lately it's becoming really difficult not to feel a certain aversion towards them. I guess I just can't wrap my head around how can they understand my morals and be aware of the animal cruelty in the livestock industry, yet still eat meat and drink milk without an ounce of guilt??
I think I'm reaching the point where I have a zero tolerance stance about this issue. Maybe if I just avoid going out to eat with them, that feeling of aversion will subside... or maybe I just need to find vegan friends.
Has anyone been through an experience like this?

Question How do you deal with your close ones not converting despite all the information that made you switch?
I have been vegan for around 2 months now and I just can't wrap my head around why people I see as equals - my friends and family, could NOT want to stop supporting all these animal-product companies. I get that a large portion of these products taste good/feel good but isn't morality more important than earthly pleasures? How do you deal with close ones that don't want to convert? I know no vegan irl and it just makes me feel lonely and isolated.

Disturbing Meat eaters being cruel
I’m a new vegan and I’m 18, and the reactions by others to it have been very surprising, the only person supportive of me is my mom who buys me vegan products. Others are unnecessarily rude to you for no reason, I wasn’t even doing any activism just simply saying I’m vegan, and how much I like impossible burgers, and someone wants to reply with like “girl bye” and I explain how these factory farms senselessly torturing and killing these animals and they just responded “fuck them animals”, like wow, You’d think I was doing activism telling non vegans that they’re evil or something. Well some of them might just be evil. And another meat eater called me dumb for no reason… when they’re completed uneducated about the farming industry arguing that it uses “ethical” practices, meanwhile 99% of meat comes from factory farms. Why are people so offended about us having empathy for animals. Does anyone else experience this?

Rant I'm so sick of this school
I'm in a boarding school in Japan and recently went vegan. Basically everything isnt vegan, not even vegetarian. There are allergy labels labeling allergans or meat/fish but they're not correct half of the time. The vegetable salads are labeled with chicken sometimes (with no chicken in it?), and today there was a salad option that seemed fine. It wasn't even labeled with any fish allergan? Then I looked closer and there were white things with eyes, they were tiny fish. Last night the vegetarian section had gelatin. WHY???

Food Wine can be not vegan
Hello all!
Just wanted to share for those who didn’t know this.
Apparently, wine can be not vegan, as they can use gelatine for its production!
I learnt this during my winery visit.
So be careful and buy bottles which are labeled as vegan.
As for me, I had no idea that gelatine can be used even in wine production 🍷 😥
Edit:
I didn’t mean that ALL WINE IS NOT VEGAN, I meant that SOME WINE can be NOT VEGAN.
!! Can be not vegan≠cannot be vegan !!

Discussion Being vegan doesn’t require much empathy
I feel like this is a popular misconception, even within the vegan community. But being vegan doesn’t require much more empathy than feeling bad about seeing a person kick a dog on the street. And I’m pretty sure 99% of people on earth have that level of empathy and if you don’t you probably have psychopathy.
If you have that prerequisite, then the rest of veganism follows from purely a logical perspective. 1. It’s wrong to cause suffering unnecessarily
2. Animals feel pain just like me and you and that dog who was kicked on the street (note I didn’t say they feel the same level of suffering as humans, you don’t need to believe that either for this statement to still be true)
3. Animal agriculture causes not just a basic level of suffering but quite a substantial one (if you disagree with this please watch dominion)
4. You don’t need animal products to live a healthy and happy life.
Conclusion. Be vegan.
Lowkey a rant because I said to someone I’m close to that empathy never came naturally to me and she said that’s surprising because I’m vegan… which I guess triggered me because I don’t think being very empathetic is a requirement to be vegan.
Discussion Could punk culture push veganism forward?
Animal rights activism and groups like the Animal Liberation Front really grew alongside the punk/counterculture movements, when people seemed more willing to take risks, break from the mainstream, and actually do things rather than just talk about them.
Could something like that happen again with veganism/animal liberation?
It feels like counterculture is harder to build now. We have access to all this insane amount of opinions and information through social media and the internet, but I wonder if that actually makes people less willing to take risks? During the punk era, people had much less information about what they were getting themselves into or what the consequences of their actions might be. Maybe that lack of certainty made people more willing to just go for it?
Now we can see every possible consequence, debate, criticism, and failure before we even act. Everything gets documented, judged, and absorbed into social media almost instantly.
So how could a modern punk/DIY counterculture actually push veganism/animal liberation forward in the same way?

Advice Hi I'm new.. and just needed to talk/express to someone
I stumbled on videos online of the kind of treatment and conditions that so many.. too many animals go through to become food for me.
I'm a 30 year old man and I sat there and cried. And cried. I haven't felt right since. Before I was somewhat ignorant, but now I know. I know that I know.
I've realised I have to make changes, I can't just suppress this. My plan is to try each day to be more conscious of what I consume and buy. I know that I won't change the world personally, but I just want to be ok with myself, my own conscience.
I guess I'm just wondering how do you learn to hold this knowledge, this weight of the unfathomable scale of the suffering? Even as I write this I'm tearing up, it's just not right

Appreciation post to all the vegans here. ♥️
I just want to say thank you to everyone in this community for making the decision to go vegan and sticking with it, no matter what.
You’re making a real difference, helping save animals lives, choosing not to support the meat industry, standing up for the environment and making an investment in your health.
You’re also setting an example for future generations. Your choices, your compassion, and your commitment can inspire others to make better choices. You’re a good influence and a reminder that change begins with people who are willing to stand by what they believe in.
So when you go to bed tonight, sleep well and remember: you are the change! Every meal, every choice and every day you choose compassion matters.
Thank you for caring. Thank you for making a difference. And thank you for being part of this community. 🥺♥️

Disturbing Has anyone seen the Hartshead meats video?
I apologise if this isnt allowed here. Full disclosure, I'm not vegan. But Im starting today, or well, right now, because I just watched a video posted on youtube by @JoeyCarbstrong (I found out about it by the good glow instagram)
Has anyone else seen this??? Its about Hartshead Meats? A company you can STILL buy from. Even if selling meat is legal, what they are doing to LIVING cows isnt??
Im sorry for the topic, but I dont think I've ever been so disgusted.

Discussion What's your opinion on capital punishment? Can you be vegan and pro death penalty?
Reading the news of the botched execution in Tennessee this past week has me questioning my moral consistency. I was pro death penalty at first, but I'm doing research and I'm realizing how inhumane and unethical these executions are and how they don't actually save the tax payers money in the long run because it's so expensive to execute an inmate. Is it morally consistent to be pro death penality and be vegan? I'm pro choice, if that changes anything. I feel like sometimes I think life is sacred, other times not. Thanks for reading this and your input.
Relationships Is this a reasonable boundary or controlling?
I'm a newer vegan and sad that none of my friends or family will consider it, including my partner. But, especially after watching Dominion last month, I feel deeply uncomfortable being around people who are eating meat or dairy products... I've been thinking about setting a boundary that I will not hangout with, or eat with, my loved ones if they are eating meat. I'm just worried that this will be controlling or sound like an ultimatum that will end up pushing them away. Or that they would say I'm being dramatic. I'm also worried that this would only result in myself being more isolated from everyone. Has anyone else navigated this and found a good solution? I want to try to convince them to go vegan too but that feels impossible atm..
Edit: Idk why so many of you are saying that I'm "cutting people off" when I never said that at all. If my partner is eating meat and I go into the other room, that is in no way "cutting them off". You're being dramatic and not helpful. Sheesh.

Rant New to the fold and want to give you kudos
I’m really proud of each and every one of you walking this path.
Ive been pescatarian since February 2015 and never wavered once about not eating meat. But the guilt of the oceans collapsing and my participation in it has weighed on me for years. Only as of last week, have I broken the spell of “doing enough” and remained vegan at every meal time.
And I am elated.
Not at my consistency, not at any moral high ground. But at the animals that are no longer suffering because of my choices. It feels so damn good to no longer host the suffering of others or their graveyard.
You really do deserve your flowers.

Advice why does my sister joke about it?
i feel stupid asking about this because it’s such a non issue. but i really struggle to understand social interactions, and i don’t think there is anyone i can talk to about this.
my sister and i do not have any issues, but she keeps making jokes about eating animals.
i didn’t pay attention at first but it feels intentional because she repeats the same things a lot. it’s making me uncomfortable because i just don’t understand why
i don’t bug my family about what they eat, so why say these things to me?
i have spoken before about how the treatment of cows makes me upset, she drinks a lot of milk so i am wondering if i offended her.
but it wasn’t like a debate i was just speaking about it. she said she did not care about them, but was willing to try plant milk (hated💔) so i am also not sure if this would’ve actually upset her.

Holidays/parties with non-vegans
I’ve been vegan for over 10 years but now that my toddlers are getting older I’m starting to feel a bit more sadden about how our family and friends treat us. I noticed we never get invited to any events anymore (I’ve expressed that we don’t need any vegan options I always bring our own if needed) and when we invite people over they don’t want to come bc they don’t want to eat ”vegan food” it didn’t bother me before but now that my kids are involved it’s saddening! did anyone experience this and how did you go about it? i say my kids are involved now because they’re not being invited to their cousins parties etc
