THDG Need Help What is this tree?

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone can help me figure out what type of tree this is, based on early leaves/flowers?

I suspect a fruit tree based on where the previous owners of our house planted it, maybe an apple tree as there used to be many orchards in the area? It's relatively small (2.5m tall at most) so unlikely one of the originals though.

Haven't ever seen fruit on it, I assume animals eat it as soon as there's anything starting to grow.

Om nom nom Mr Chen's BBQ Pork Buns are bad

I'm usually a big fan of frozen meal things but these buns were 90% just bread. I swear I'm not exaggerating.

I could've paid the same money for like ten times more bacon than whatever these had in them, a full bottle of bbq sauce, and a loaf of fresh bread.

I couldn't find a better place online to post a review

Light and Fluffy News Melbourne Fringe Festival is on right now!

• Upvotes

Anyone up for indie theatre? Melbourne Fringe Festival has been on for the past week and I’ve seen about a dozen shows so far. I’m also about to open my own show TOMORROW, eeeep! 🙈

One of the coolest shows I’ve seen so far has been a physical theatre show called Only Bones. The current performer of this show is the 10th in a series of solo performers, whose only guidelines were to create a one hour show with a single light bulb inside of a 1 metre square space onstage. Super weird, totally hypnotic, and unexpectedly awesome!!

Both that show & my show are running this week at Trades Hall in Carlton - Wednesday to Sunday. Mine is a storytelling pole dancing show called THE POLE SHEBANG 💥 Would love to have you there if you’re keen for a night out on the town…

I’d love to hear show recs from anyone else who’s been attending! Go support some indie artists! 🎭

Om nom nom Old England Hotel - Table Ordering (Bistro)

A wee PSA for those who aren’t aware & plan to dine at the OE in Heidelberg.

There are QR codes for ordering at the table without going to the cashier to order. This captures your order via me&up and with the 1 Oct changes, now charges a platform fee.

Head over to the cashier with your order & table number as it won’t apply there.

Roads I had a car accident around 6.30pm on Hoddle Street

Did anyone witness it?
Nothing terrible happened, just some scratches on our cars.
Initially I wasn’t particularly upset about it as these things happen sometimes. I was open to a friendly exchange of details.

However, when we pulled over the driver of the other car went straight into a rant about how it was all my fault.

To explain what happened. The other driver was in the far left lane and was completely stopped behind a bus. I was driving in the lane to the right of him.
The traffic was moving pretty quickly, perhaps 60-70kmh. The car in front of me obscured my view of his stationary car until we were fairly close.

He had his indicator on but at that stage if I put on the brakes hard enough to allow him time to get out, the car behind would have rear ended me.

He drove into our lane anyway right as I was going past him, into the side of my car.

His logic was that he was indicating and therefore he lets one car go and then I must let him in.
My logic is that he waits for the lane to be clear.

Did I mess up though? I’ve been confidently incorrect before.

Real estate/Renting 18F, looking for advice about finding a rental in melbs

• Upvotes

i've already posted this in the unimelb subreddit, but wanted to put it out here too :)

hi! i plan to study at the university of melbourne next year, and have been looking around at sharehouses at websites online (mostly fairy floss + flatmates.com) to get a feel for the climate and have found a pretty steep majority of sharehouses in around the inner suburbs area ask for people in about their mid-20s and above.

i come from a lower-socio economic region of regional victoria, so could possibly qualify for a naarm scholarship that could assist me in getting into a residential college, but even then i don't really like my chances, especially as i'll probably have little/no financial support from my parents and will likely rely on part time work.

would defintely prefer a sharehouse lol to alleviate some rent expenses lol :,-)

just asking for any advice from people who may have been in the same boat, especially recently, as a 18 year old turning 19 student looking for a sharehouse in around inner-north melbourne or atleast somewhat close-ish to the parkville campus

any advice helps!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks :)

Things That Go Ding (Public Transport) How should one handle a raving person on the tram

On the 48 today, some clearly mentally-unwell old guy with a walker and a moon-boot was just screaming at everyone, yelling he was an undercover cop, that he was gonna kill everyone, people need to go back to their own countries etc etc. Just this racist barrage of constant vomit.

He never stood up or physically intimidated anyone, and everyone just kinda ignored him or stared at him until he left after a few stops.

My question is - is that the right thing to do? Some of the stuff he was saying was absolutely vile to some of the foreigners and children in the tram that I almost wanted to go and deck him in the face - but hurting an old disabled man hardly seems appropriate. I suppose I could have told him to be quiet or to verbally confront him, but he probably would have just told me to fuck off. The driver attempted to talk to him but just ended up getting abused.

Is ignoring the right thing to do?
