Om nom nom Mr Chen's BBQ Pork Buns are bad

I'm usually a big fan of frozen meal things but these buns were 90% just bread. I swear I'm not exaggerating.

I could've paid the same money for like ten times more bacon than whatever these had in them, a full bottle of bbq sauce, and a loaf of fresh bread.

I couldn't find a better place online to post a review

Brand pork buns are all shit.  Find a dumpling place that makes them.  Lots in Box Hill will sell frozen.

Similarly I ordered pork buns at Noodle Box the other day and they were legit not much bigger than a 50cent piece. Never again

Noodle Box is an all time scam

I will admit these were big. I had to cut each in two to eat and a more… polite eater would’ve had to cut them in four

Those ones thay come in a box you can't see inside are always shit.

If youre bothering with supermarket frozen section always go for the ones in the clear plastic bags.

Go to the asian grocery store and buy the ones made by whoever is local in Melbourne. Sydney has Ho's Kitchen or Sydney Bet which are solid. The trick is the less fancy packaging the better

Consider that the maybe 20 to 30 grams of whatever meat was in the 550g box could’ve been chicken for all I could tell from the taste

There was less than ten bits in each bun and those bits were barely bigger than a grain of rice each

So yeah, bacon. It’s a type of pork and you can buy a small amount of it from the deli to meet the budget.

But hey, if you wanna drop a more authentic bbq pork bun recipe, please be my guest. I’ll even give you an increased $20 budget to work within

These guys supply restaurants, I think only open to public on Saturdays though.
