Stupidity seen last night
I did zoom into my video for a better picture. So this person turns right into oncoming traffic and almost collides head-on with the car in front of me and then cuts off the cars as they get into their lane. I see that they are trying to make a left turn so I flash them to go because I did not want to be near them after seeing that chaos. They even screw that up and try to turn into a one way road and then proceed to almost reverse into several cars. What even ?

Random Scrape after getting car detailed - Need 360 Cam!
I literally got my car detailed YESTERDAY and I only went to three places; my parking lot after I collected the car, my church today, then walmart today.
I walked past my car from behind twice and never noticed this at my parking lot or church (knowing that I showed someone the car after and was talking about some spots that I felt could have been done better).
Yet after stopping at Walmart and B&BW (same parking lot), that’s when I noticed the scrape. The detailers photo and video also doesn’t show this on there.
Now I have to get a camera that watches my car 24/7. And I’m going to ask Walmart for the video as well 🙄 This is what CGPT suggested:
- Vantrue E360 Plus
- BlackboxMyCar PowerCell 5
- Vantrue E360-compatible 3-wire ACC hardwire kit
- High-endurance microSD card of the appropriate capacity
I’m not mad but annoyed because I JUST got this detailed to start “girlying” up my car since this is my first car since I started driving this year and now this ugly scratch.
Does the suggestion CGPT gave, sensible? The powercell is so it’s not dependent on the battery after shut off.
Edit: Car is a 2012 Toyota Rav4 Limited

How much hood do you prefer to have visible?
Curious what people here prefer for the front dashcam angle. I see a lot of accident videos here with very different camera angles. Do you keep a bit of the hood visible, or aim it higher so there’s little to none?
I’m using a Viofo A229 Pro and trying to find the best position. Mainly wondering what has worked best for others in real use.
Sorry if this is a basic question, I’m pretty new to dashcams.

Garmin 45 from 2016 upgrade or just keep it?
Title says it. My gifted dashcam will be 10 years old soon, and I'm wondering if it's time to upgrade to better quality or just keep it as it's tried and true.
I did get a Vantrue onboard N4 since I had a good deal with Best Buy but due to the frits on my windshield I had to have it sit lower than I'd like making it an eyesore and just in the way. I didn't even finish setting it up once I saw how low I'd have to have it, I just took it down and plan on returning it.
But now I'm wondering if should I try a different brand or just stick with my current Garmin? I like that it's so small and I have it installed behind my rear view mirror so you can even tell it's there! So if I do need to upgrade what compact brands do you recommend?

Need a camera to record car dashboard when driving
Car is stalling randomly with lots of warning lights on the dashboard. Need the video evidence for dealer service and possibly lemon law arbitration. Any recommendations. I'm thinking maybe a small action cam mounted somewhere around the rear seat , but if there is a more traditional dashcam that could capture images from the dashboard, that would be preferable.

70mai battery pack BMS - auto cut-off?
I use a 70mai LFP battery pack to power my dashcam in my EV. It is charged using the cigarette lighter socket.
Does anyone know whether the battery pack's BMS will stop charging the pack or stop drawing power once it is full?
When I AC charge my car overnight, I realise the dashcam will keep running and also charge the battery pack continuously.
Thanks.

Can i connect 4 pin to 5 pin backup camera?
Hi everyone, I hope you’re all doing great.
I have a mirror-style dash cam with a 5-pin rear camera connector. Unfortunately, the image quality of the rear camera isn’t very good, so I’d like to upgrade it and install a better camera.
The problem is that good 5-pin cameras are almost impossible to find in my country. Most of the good-quality cameras I can find are either 4-pin or RCA type.
I was wondering, if I know the pinouts of both connectors, would it be possible to wire a 4-pin camera to the 5-pin connector pin-to-pin?
I checked the datasheets for the two connectors, and it seems that the 4-pin camera uses 3.3V, while the 5-pin camera uses 5V.
Would this be possible, or are there other differences between the two cameras that I need to take into consideration besides the voltage and pinout?

Can i connect 4 pin to 5 pin backup dashcam camera?
Hi everyone,
I’m trying to replace the rear camera on my mirror-style dashcam. The original camera uses a 5-pin connector, but I can’t find a good replacement with the same connector.
I have found several better-quality 4-pin cameras and I’m wondering if one of them could be adapted to the 5-pin input.
I have the pinout information for both cameras. The main difference I’ve noticed so far is that the 4-pin camera appears to use a 3.3V supply, while the original 5-pin camera uses 5V.
If the video signal and ground are compatible, could I simply rewire the connector and provide the correct voltage for the 4-pin camera? Or are these rear-camera interfaces usually dependent on a specific video format, signaling standard, or communication protocol?
I’d appreciate any advice from someone familiar with dashcam rear-camera interfaces or camera pinouts.
Thanks!
