WPL: New Comics Discussion for 09/30/2026- Pull of the Week: Fantastic Four #17 [Discussion]
The Weekly Pull List results for this Wednesday are in, and this week's top book is Marvel's Fantastic Four #17.
This thread is open to Pull List posters and all members of the /r/comicbooks community to share your thoughts on the latest issue of Marvel's Fantastic Four or any new books shipping this week.
The primary intention of this thread is to promote discussion of new books. It also serves as a way to consolidate discussion to a single thread and talk about what books are popular here on /r/comicbooks. That does not mean other threads aren't welcome, this is just a place to start that's easy to find each week.
The thread is populated with comments meant to direct the discussion of each book. Based on community preference we populate the thread with titles appearing on Ten Percent or more of submitted pull lists. If a title you want to talk about is not listed, simply add a comment with the title and issue number first and comment below. There is also a comment dedicated to the discussion of WPL Results linked above.
Spoilers will follow, but there's no harm in tagging them as such. Each title in the Top Ten Percent listed below is linked directly to its corresponding comment for ease of navigation and to avoid seeing details from other books. The post has also been placed in "contest mode" to help readers avoid spoilers while browsing.

Question Are these ‘Best of 2000AD’ a good way to get into 2000AD ?
You’re going to tell me ‘Of course they are the best, it’s in the title!’. But really I’m wondering if the collections are well curated and tick all the boxes over 2000AD history. I have mostly French comics, some DC Omnibus and I want to diversify into the 2000AD universe. Thanks !

Discussion Does anyone else prefer solo Batman over Batman + family?
I understand that the robins are important to his character for multiple reasons, but there’s just something about solo Bruce that is much more engaging to me. I don’t mind when these characters make brief appearances, but I really prefer seeing Bruce solve these problems on his own.

Dave McKean Sounds a Warning on AI
In 2022, artist Dave McKean was AI-curious: so much that he made a whole comic book out of AI prompts. Now, four years later, he's sounding a very different, and ominous, note.

Discussion What are some "dead" comic book heroes or titles you don't see ever making a comeback? Or could they one day?
When I say "dead" I dont mean in the literal sense that the character is currently dead in comics, but just a series or character that never seemed to breakthrough to general audiences or was popular for a time and has fallen off never to make a comeback. Sure, theres probably been attempts at revivals and reaimagining and maybe even they pop up from time to time, but it just never seems to stick. Do you think they have potential? Will we ever see them rising up the ranks to become a household name one day? I'd love to see what everyone thinks.
Heres a couple of mine:
Challengers of the Unknown. An iconic Kirby creation, that unfortunately seems to be outshined by the fantastic four in every way. As a fan, I just dont see any potential if im being honest.
Adam Strange. Despite seemingly to always be making appearances in cartoons and animated films he strugles to make it off the C list. Would love to see him get more mainstream attention.
Micronauts. A book that seemed to have had a big run in the 80s but has just basically disappeared.
Blackhawks. War books in general seem to be a dying genre, but for a comic that has been around for so long they seem to be a "literal who?" To the average person.
Metal Men. A Pixar style family friendly movie I feel would be killer, but would there be enough of an intrest?
I know all these example have their fans (im one of them) but I'm curious to see what other ones you guys come up with

Discussion How many signatures is too many on a comic book?
I am going to NYCC and I have two copies of absolute Batman #1 first print. One cover A and the other is a Jim Lee foil variant. Looking to get signatures and if they are nice enough a small sketch as well. Scott Snyder, Nick dragotta, and Jim Lee will all be there. Is a triple auto overkill? At what point is it too many? 2 max per book?

Discussion I recently got into comics and id like some suggestions.
Im off work tomorrow and am planning to go to my local shop. I already have a list of stuff to grab if they have it but its gotten much smaller since ive started. Ive been buying exclusively trade paperbacks as I don't have space for omnis or a large amount of single issues. Also ive been on a dc kick as of late so I have more dc than marvel. What are some things that I should keep an eye out for? Anything goes.

Where to start with DC?
Hi, been trying to get into DC for a while and had started with Batman Y1, Tom King's Mr Miracle and Absolute Superman . Currently I'm trying to make a list of comics to read for certain characters. What would you guys reccomend for the other flagship characters?
