So there's tolerances to what is considered lifting?  There's symbiote matter between the hammer and the sheet below but it's an amount that wouldn't count as lifting.

Or it came up through the sheet

So, Thor sleeps in his armor?

I loved this issue and plan on giving it to my niece next time I see her, she loves Jeff the land shark.

So any bed Thor sleeps on is worthy of the hammer?

Inanimate objects don’t count under the “whosoever holds this hammer” condition.

I mean, it’s not like the hammer is infinitely heavy at all times, otherwise it would just sink through the ground, or through the whole planet even...(or form a black hole).

Rather, I think it works something like this:

While the hammer doesn’t ordinarily weigh that much, given its official weight of 42 lbs...if an unworthy person attempts to lift it, the enchantment kicks in. At which point the weight increases in direct proportion to the force attempting to move it - that way, the net force will always remain 42 lbs (to the ground), and thus the hammer remains unmoved, without sinking.

Or in simpler terms: the hammer becomes as heavy as it needs to be.

So if I rest it on a table can I pick up the table?

Maybe, maybe not.

Given you’re still attempting to lift the hammer, and Mjolnir is somewhat aware…I’d argue no. I mean, obviously we know gloves don’t work, but where do we draw the line? In the MCU at least, vehicles and cranes are useless when operated by humans, but an elevator would (allegedly) work - though that is the MCU, and not the comics.

While I suppose there is a case for it, but I dunno, it doesn't feel quite right. Maybe it would depend on your intentions and what the hammer reads from them? I think if you placed the hammer inside a car it would probably move, but if you tried to tow it, probably not (like the movie)…either way you wouldn’t actually be holding the hammer, so you’d be incapable of wielding its power like that, even if you could technically move it.

We do know it’s possible to lift Thor while he's holding the hammer, however, since he’s already meeting the worthy requirement for you…if you want a loophole, that’s one you could use (again though, not the same as wielding the hammer's power).

Granted, Thor weighs a hefty 640 lbs (Asgardians are significantly denser than humans), but it’s still easier than other ways - like going to space, since zero gravity is another solution.

Could you ship the hammer if the delivery people don't know what is in the box?

I wonder what would happen if Thor set the hammer down on Ego.
