What happened to Dark Horse and IDW?
I remember back in the mid-late 00’s they were fighting Image for 3rd place in comic book market share and sometimes even surpassing Image’s market share, now Image is a clear 3rd place (could potentially even fight for 2nd place one day)while Dark Horse and IDW market share are irrelevant.

Question Is lack of access the main reason why much of comic fandom tends not to explore comics as a medium beyond the superhero genre, or is it down to lack of interest or curiosity, or is it something else?
Not sure what I can add to the question in the title. I've been thinking about this in relation to my own journey as a comic fan because I'm in my mid-thirties now and realise I've been a comics fan of some stripe for most of my life.
I could phrase it more directly: if you are a fan who pretty much only reads superhero comics, is that because you're most interested in superheroes, you aren't interested in comics that aren't superheroes, because superheroes are what is most available and accessible, or some other reason?

Comics where the hero is ignorant/in denial about their mental health?
I am almost current with Matt Fraction's current run on Batman. There's an element of his story I really enjoy which is the idea that while Batman believes he's 100% OK, people close to him (friends and foes) aren't convinced.
For example Batman Issue #1 Page 22/30 on the DC Universe app.
Killer Croc: Home now. She help. Who help you?
Batman : My head is okay, Waylon. I don't need help.
Killer Croc: If you say so.
Any stories you would recommend that play with this idea?
EDIT: Thank you all for the amazing recommendations!

Discussion I'm baffled by the timelessness of "Justice" by Jim Krueger and Alex Ross
There were rumors back then that Killing Joke was suppose to be non-canon, that Alan Moore wrote it as DC asked but he never directly envisioned the canonical aspect of his work. He just wanted to write his story—period. That rumor was debunked numerous times over the years. Then I thought that it's true that sometimes it's pretty difficult to tell if a comic is canon or not. In an ambiguous way it's the case of Arkham Asylum: A Serious House and a bit for "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?", at least the beginning of the story could make you confused about it being canon or not, and since it's a perfect conclusion/send-off to the Bronze Age Superman (and good coincidence, not so long after, John Byrne began his new version with The Man of Steel).
And then Justice comes in. Most of the issues makes it difficult to believe that this is an elseworld, it looks so much like an untold tale from the Silver and Bronze Ages. Alex Ross and Jim Krueger were very meticulous, that's pretty amazing. However what I find awesome is that in fact they mixed several things that aren't from that era and this makes it pretty timeless and unique. Despite that this is the 1970's Justice League (they got their Satellite. Zatanna, Red Tornado and Elongated Man etc are present, Dick is still Robin, Aqua-baby is present), Batman have his modern 2000's suit, Riddler got a special modern redesign accompanied by highly advanced technology! and Batgirl have her DCAU suit. While John Stewart and Supergirl have their exact 1970 costumes/appearances. And since Alex Ross is a Super Friend lover, the Legion of Doom is added to all this. It's interesting to note that Shiera Hall is present but again this is probably because of Ross's love for the saturday morning cartoon. Because it's kinda ambiguous but I don't think that she was a JL member during the Satellite era? It's vague but they let us assume that or she is inactive or she is just doing her own thing... off-screen. Final significant details that stands out in contrast to the Silver Age is that Brainiac and Metallo have their Golden Age's physical appearances (I think that the Metallo from Justice is the John Corben from "The Menace of Metallo"?). Let's add that... internet exist in that world.
It's easy to understand why there are all these design variations : Alex Ross is a man of art. Apart from Super Friends, Ross is of course a HUGE fan of the Golden Age so he probably used those designs because those are his favorites. Same for Batman, when you look at his different sketches, he generally remove the yellow part of the bat-symbol and use the pouches version of the utility belt. Ross loves also the DCAU, this is probably why the colors of Batgirl are the same, the idea to make her suit all black and yellow is simple but effective.
I don't think that there a lot of examples like this in comics but maybe more from movies, like Tim Burton's Batman where or you can't totally determine which year they are living in, or it's a mix of different time period. Same for Superman Returns, Hugo Cabret, MCU's Fantastic Four or The Rocketeer. Again and last words, this elseworld can even be misinterpreted as a canonical DC event! Justice is a really unique story.

Excerpt My taste got darker because of October and because of work unfortunately, German Unity Day and a tropical house. the week, the depression and the comics Part 177
I like autumn time, I love that it's colder, I love the short days, but unfortunately only when you're allowed to stay at home. when you have to go to work at 5am it's really terrible. Unfortunately, that bullying doesn't get any better I have to say, and i absolutely hate it to endure this shit for 5 days a week. I'm trying to look at it positively because me and my friends are planning a tour on Halloween, we found haunted house attractions in our staat of baden württemberg and our ComicBookClub is talking about horror comics olny that October.
And we start on the westside.
I am a big fav of that Texas blood and i am excited for the newest story Hell Comes to Allison Ranch, where Sheriff Joe Bob Coates and his Deputy Wilson Hart are callt to a Ranch, a heist got horrible wrong at the day of the Afghanistan Invasion.
Trick Pony shows that live is not a pony farm, We're following a rodeo star who's really beat up by life, He now has to return to his old home because his father is seriously ill and he has to confront his own past and his own sins and problems.
I think that nowadays we are significantly more suspicious of what border security officials are actually doing at our borders; developments like Frontex in Europe or Donald Trump’s ice goons show how people seeking help are often treated terribly. Beneath is a horror comic set at a border patrol station in New Mexico, where something suddenly emerges from the ground to attack and devour people; meanwhile, tensions are boiling over among undocumented migrants, police, ICE agents, and protesters.
Yesterday was German Unity Day, or rather, the day of the unification of Germany following the collapse of the GDR on November 9th. I'm really trying to teach my niece about history, because it's an interesting part of it, a nation that was divided for decades and even though the Wall has long since fallen and the old dictatorship is over, the new federal states still struggle with higher poverty levels and since the last election in Saxony-Anhalt, there remains a strong pull towards the far-right. Young people have a strange relationship with history; they often think that something belongs to the past only if it happened a long time ago and no longer has any consequences, yet they don't view events from 10 or 20 years ago as history. In that Texas blood is a interesting Interview with Spencer Ackerman, Journalist and Writer on books like Reign of Terror: How the 9/11 Era Destabilized America and Produced Trump and Waller vs. Wildstorm, where he talks with Chris Condon that write of that Texas blood. And it is fascinating to read this conversation, especially because they address why this period has so strongly shaped our present. I post it on that sub and it is funny that one comment that He only read two paragraphs and now demands a summary from me. It's a strange time right now that the internet is full of history/political content, but the problem is also that because everything on the internet has become so much entertainment, it unfortunately loses its complexity unfortunately and diminished it topics. I compared it a bit to someone who says he is an amateur ornithologist but only knows birds as chicken nuggets, a vast and multifaceted topic heck down to bite sites things But as a result, they are very far removed from what they are actually supposed to represent.
Well, let's talk about Crossovers.
Since I read the Quick stop comics i hav hunger for more. Jay & Silent Bob: Jays of Future Past let's the our favorite weed dealers go to the Marvel Universe, and it is goes in to chaos, of course.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III is the last big battle against Lord Zedd and Shredder. Real upgespace and i feel like ten, nice.
My friend Lisa is a big fan of Archie Comics and also an expert on the spin-offs. Honestly, those horror comics are many timesmodern classic's. I’ll be frank: I usually find them more interesting than when Marvel or DC does that sort of thing. She did offer an interesting criticism, namely, that she finds it a bit sad that many don't play around with the classic artstyle. And yes, I know many of them feature fantastic art, I think Afterlife and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina for instance are fantastic to look. But It’s a bit like with Don't Hug Me I'm Scared or the movie Buddy, Where you are truly lured into a false sense of security before the trap snaps shut. Or it is just funny to see cute things go brutal and blood. Archie vs. Sharknado let the trash movie disaster ( from weather point) hit the gang, and I absolutely love that they're using the classic look of comics for this bloody trash bombshell.
I went to the Karlsruhe Zoo with my niece, and my goodness—they’ve really renovated the place and it became better, I love, for example, the new elephant house, especially the comma, but I think my highlight was the exotic house. It was interesting because it was really hot and humid, like a rainforest. Where the birds fly free around you and a bat cave where they do it also. It was fascinating. I've never been in a rainforest in my life, and I know it's just a good simulation, but still, it just felt so interesting, especially at the beginning of autumn, when you really notice the difference when you go outside, especially when the cold suddenly hits again.
If there’s one trend in comics lately that I really love, it’s those highly artistic short-story collections, mostly in black and white (plus one other color). Here I present to you one of those with Star Wars, namely Darth Vader: black, white & red and Predator: Black, White & Blood, And yes, the Predators' blood is green.
And have you heard that Warner Bros. and Paramount now belong to the same corporation? It is ironic David Ellison is trying to make from that Unholy unite to his own Studio under the title Skydance, As if he thinks you can buy Legacy. People are comparing it too much to how Disney bought out 20th Fox, I do have a reservation there, though, precisely because Disney is using the Fox assets to offer content that falls outside the classic Disney mold—essentially, they did it to reach new target audiences. Unfortunately, the problem is that Paramount and Warner Bros. have very similar offerings, which creates a risk that one might end up drawing the short straw. Sure, there are also people who say that all this is happening now because a friend of Trump is close to get CNN, the biggest news channel in the USA and Donald's "enemie", I'm not an expert on this, and besides, I'm also somewhat of the opinion that if I only want a news channel, I can try to buy it from the parent company anyway, without buying the whole thing in a poke. But if I go by my gut feeling—meaning something not based 100% on facts, but simply speculation based on intuition; I want to make that clear—Ellison strikes me as the type of guy who always wanted to be in the movies but isn't actually any good at it. See Before he became known as a producer, this guy tried his hand at acting—partly because his father, Larry, supported his projects with a great deal of money—and somehow, they come across as vanity projects. And you can probably imagine, especially if you're surprised now, that these films weren't particularly good, He then founded Skydance to finance films—projects to which he could later attach his name and because they had a good relationship with Paramount, they were able to acquire the company. To be honest, he reminds me of those guys who say they have a taste for movies for real men, but you can tell they just mean they have shitty taste in movies, Like one of those guys who gets a massive gaming setup, where he could basically play anything, but ends up playing nothing but big multiplayer first-person shooters, That guy that that says "western" comics are Boring, but mostly reads isekai's. I always have this somewhat nasty saying, but I always say it consciously from the heart, To become an artist, you don't really need talent, you primarily need rich parents, Talent only helps you stay that way. And to me, he seems like a guy who has the financial means to do anything he wants, but unfortunately doesn't really have a broad perspective on art or any real talent. And it doesn't surprise me that these types are, let's say, crazy about artificial intelligence, because they don't possess any themselves.
Lets talk about the future.
Legion of Super-Heroes from Joshua Williamson and Hayden Sherman is a fantastic start, We are in the distant future of the DC Universe, which has become interplanetary, but at the same time it is forbidden to be a superhero. But a mysterious murder is about to bring a young group of heroes.
A classic from my favorite artist Juan Giménez. Gangrene It is set in a future that is completely littered with trash, where the last humans are still fighting for territory or usable materials. Giménez Knowledge of metalwork and mechanical engineering really helps to bring this world to life. Everything is super detailed, but you can tell that it was pieced together from different parts.
Ripperland takes place in a future London that has been converted into an theme park that simulate a Victorian London, Who would have thought that the British would be in such bad financial shape after Brexit? But suddenly a series of murders occurs there, which are very similar to those committed by the Jack the Ripper.
Sorry, I have to talk a little more about people who somehow hate art, but like to be a part of it. Movies with Mark did a interesting video about the Letterboxd for Loser Criticless, one of the usual chud anti-woke internet people ( https://youtu.be/Ti9CO2boh0I?is=w6A30zVh3pqY2ylK ), And even though the video from the good guy takes many things apart, I deliberately want to make an interesting focus, that the chud likes the Electric State movie. I mean, there are also terrible films that I absolutely love, There are adaptations that I think are better than the original, but I find it somehow interesting, and the why he likes the film, because it is more that he hates more original vision of the original Simon Stålenhag illustrator-Roman. It’s really strange how he says he likes Simon’s art and books, yet at the same time shows a genuine rejection of his theses and his body of work as a whole, Heck even says that an adaptation that is true to the original would be trash. It's really strange that people like that can perceive art so selectively for some reason, i can see that people can be impressed and excited by Stålenhag art, every one of his works and I’m including Tales from the Loop with is sequel Things from the Flood, The Labyrinth and Swedish Machines But they are also existential. To separate them is simply stupid, You can't separate the images from their narrative or what they're trying to tell. If I were to suddenly try creating images like Simon's, but then turn them into something more like Ultraviolet or Assault Girls of the story, you put a boot on land. It reminds me a bit of those people who are pro-AI art, Sure, they're impressed by works of art that really require a lot of skill to achieve, but at the same time they don't understand why the artist deliberately did that, why he wanted to do something so complicated, because they only see the surface and not the meaning.
Well, now i need something fantastic.
Skull Cat and the Curious Castle is about the scaredy cat Skull cat, who is the new gardener of a spooky castle. But suddenly people get missing and he must now become a hero, if we likes it or not.
Legends of the Pierced Veil: The Scarlet Blades is a feet for the eyes, the fight of ghost and demons over the material world deep inspired by Japanese myth and Folklore.
Cooking with Monsters Book 2: Harm-to-Table is still a fun read about monster hunters and master Chefs, that goes more in to characters.
Pretty good for Halloween is also Scare City, where the ghost and ghouls of the world build there society, trying to live to together, until a series of mysterious light begins are steal people from the city and pitchfork-wielding mobs go more on the streets. It is in the hands of a compassionate Zombie-Witch baker, Gina and her friends who doesn’t want to see theren home torn apart.
I think my area is safe, sure, you always have to be on your guard even when it's dark, but I find surprisingly little bad stuff happens here. And yet, going to work so early in the morning in the dark is extremely eerie for me. I never got attack or everything like that, but still i don't feel safe by sundown. I did tell that my friend Lisa, with who i had the same Bus and Train rounds, she smile at me and says "i am a Jewish Woman from the Middle East and Looks like someone from their, i should hav more fear to walk in the dark in a German City", She pets my head and then laughs at the end, and I think she's made an interesting point with that.
And it last comic to read in dark and stormy nights.
Taylor and Karrah a best friends and giant fans of the books and movies of vampire love story Blood Mountain. Taylor won a weekend in the town that was the filming locations of the movies, the perfect BFF time! If it weren't for the murderer who hunts fangirls.
I like modern legends, We may have left the campfire behind, but we still tell each other spine-chilling stories, whether on the schoolyard or in internet forums. B.E.K. (Black-Eyed Kids) It tells different stories where people encounter mysterious children with black eyes. And some kids a evil.
What is worst as a Serial killer? A Serial killer fan girl! Riley is a horror-obsessed podcaster with a slasher villain fixation and is seeking a new career path, helping murderers.
It's interesting when you think about the history of medicine, especially when you consider that it's supposed to help people, but at the same time there was also more knowledge about how to hurt people. A Legacy of Violence is about Dr. Nicholas Shaw who helps in Honduras with a group of doctors, but a series of murders and a torture victim, someone how is linked to our doctor's past.
Maniac Harry is going around the NYC, killing people left and right, But after a while, people got used to it, except for two. Politishen Gina Greene and disgraced NYPD detective Zelda Pettibone, and they find interesting things about that Harry.
Well, hav a better week as myself and keep reading.

Question When is Green Arrow at his best as a character?
For me it's when he's a bleeding heart leftie dude who means well but is just fucking terrible to be around because he's a former rich kid trying to get over himself and failing. There's something compelling to me because "well-meaning dude who sucks and is working to challenge their own assumptions" is just a very real kind of guy.

Other Sharing my characters from my comic book: The Lion of Olympus
ARTIST: Douglas Mora (instagram and Reddit, see last image)
Hello! My name is Hades (or Matt) and I wanted to post on this subreddit about my upcoming comic book with artist (and co-creator) Douglas Mora.
I tried to make a post a little bit ago, but mods took it down. I’m hoping since I’ve been a little more active on this sub, they’ll let me keep it.
Anyway, my story revolves around the Greek mythological character: Heracles.
Heracles, a former god, now a mortal P.I. In the 1950’s is tasked with investigating the kidnapping of a child named Herais; kidnapped at the hands of an ancient foe who force him to come back to his post as a god.
I hope you guys like the designs! We are currently working on page work now, which I should post about soon :)
PLEASE go show Douglas some love, he is doing amazing work.
What do you think of the characters we designed?

Suggestions Superman comic recommendations
Hi all. I hadn’t been very interested in Superman for a long time, but have become more intrigued by the character and his supporting cast over the past couple of years. I’ve read things like Man of Steel by Byrne (first trade), the death of Superman trades, All-Star Superman, and For the Man who has everything. I’ve mostly really enjoyed these, especially man of steel. I remember liking All Star but I feel like I should read it again. I also read the Bendis stuff (Superman main and Action comics) and generally liked the main Superman title better.
Most recently I’ve gotten into the My Adventures with Superman tv series and I really really like it. Is there anything in comics in the same vein? Mostly I guess what I’m looking for is a strong emphasis on his relationship with the supporting characters with good balance between some more grounded Metropolis stuff and more space-faring stuff.
Any other strong recommendations even if it’s not in the vein of the cartoon?
Edit: I’ve also read for all seasons and red son and liked these as well.
