Beginner Is there any product for 2D animation with a lot of free to use assets?
I am a beginner in 2D animation. I have done some not very good animations by exporting different SVG files from a same theme and then animating it in Figma. Then I add voice over and edits in DaVinci. After a lot of work, it gets okay (far from great), but I'd like to ask if there is any beginner-friendly tool with good themified SVG assets that I can pick and connect with little animations for explainer videos out there? I assume this may not be a free tool, but if there's anything around $40 per month, that would be great. Is there any such tool?

Question What are the key skills for an animator that are least threatened by AI?
Not here to say if AI is or isn't replacing roles. I just want people's opinions.
I recently attended a local film festival and several key speakers at some of the animation Q&As mentioned AI and how producers/studio heads etc. are actually looking to experiment with AI and use it to replace as one of them called it "donkey work". There was a LOT of sentiment of 'this is happening, don't deny it, it's inevitable' and so on.
I want to develop my skills and find a way into this industry because I love animation, I've been working at it slowly for 3 years now, but I'm quite terrified of going down a road that can end up being phased out. As far as I know, many junior roles are often things like inbetweener and clean-up artist - these are things that the people that have to spend the money to make animations happen are most excited about using AI for.
What skills and qualities should junior animators and students be focusing on to stay relevant? (Not sure if it matters but I am asking from the perspective of a 2D animator here)

Beginner K-Pop Demon Hunters + I am Jane Doe = good animatic?
I have never done animation before, but I have a million ideas and no idea how to get started. (Other than picking up a pencil and starting a rough draft)
Regardless, I thought this would be a good place to get the idea out there; maybe it will inspire others, and maybe I'll get some good tips and tricks on how to get started.
ANYWAY...
The idea is an animatic using the song "What It Sounds Like" from the film K-Pop Demon Hunters combined with imagery of women coming together in deer masks to support one another in the mutual understanding that we deserve to be heard and have justice when it comes to our experiences with s*xual v*olence. Of course, I want the audience to be left with the feeling that they are not alone.
The beginning would be of a woman standing alone in darkness, covered in her "battle scars" or red handprints, but slowly she comes together with other survivors to protest the injustice many have faced and step into the "light of healing".
The deer masks would help show this is in support of the #IAMJANEDOE movement.
So with that, would this be doable? Does the idea make sense? Am I going to run into copyright issues? What are some good tips and tricks for transitioning the settings?
Thank you for taking the time to read this and share your opinions on it :)

Discussion background animation deserves way more credit than it gets
a good animated background can completely change how a scene feels without the viewer consciously noticing it
a character can stand still while cars move in the distance, curtains react to wind, lights change, people cross behind them, or tiny things move around the environment
none of those details are supposed to steal attention
they're basically there to convince your brain that the world continues outside the character
and when they're missing, you can sometimes feel that something is wrong even if you can't immediately explain why
i think that's one of the hardest parts of animation to appreciate because the best background work is almost invisible
what's a background detail you've noticed in an animated film or show that was way more impressive once you realized someone had to animate it?

Question Daughter wants to get into animation.
My daughter is finishing high school and wants to go into animation.
I'd love to hear from any professionals their thoughts on the industry.
- How is AI impacting jobs?
- Where do you see it going in the future?
- Is it worth getting a degree in animation?
- If so, are there some schools that are better than others? (SCAD, UCLA, San Jose? others?)
- Any other general feedback or thoughts on picking schools or making the next steps.
Apprecaite anything, I'm not familiar with this industry.

Discussion Lesser known animations or works as good as Autodale?
I recently rediscovered and binged "Autodale" by David Armsby again. Its even better than I remembered it being and I even went to his patreon to get his sketchbooks and prints.
Anyways I showed it to a friend who likes the same work as I do, and he was shocked that he'd never encountered it. Which made me think, what else is out there that maybe seems obvious but really maybe only a select niche has stumbled upon.
What works do you remember and think never got the attention they deserved or any artists who make similar works to David? He's still doing "Sauria" but it looks like Autodale is auto-dead sadly.
Links or stills of the works you mention would be awesome by the way.
