Questions Help he's driving me insane
He's so very loved but he's driving me insane. 1 year old and alert/ aggressive barking at everything. It's so much once the sun goes down. Just barking at a dark window. I close the blinds. Barking at the sliding glass door, I close the blinds he goes under. Small noise outside barking. He has a loud bark. I am doing positive counterconditioning and desensitization. I'm redirecting and giving a chew at night but still he persists. Give me anything please. I'm desperate

Questions Chihuahua potty training help
So Iāve just gotten my puppy who is male and just 13 weeks, heās so amazing and I love him to bits already!
But I canāt seem to get him to pee on the puppy pads and I donāt know what to do, I have carpet in my room which doesnāt help but I which he would just wee on them instead of everything else
I did want to try and get him to pee outside but Iāve heard mixed reviews on toilet training outside because of the cold, and also Iām a little worried as I live with my family and they have cats that mostly like to chill outside
I will appreciate any advice, Iām unsure of what to do

Questions Doing the 30 minute pee break thing with 9 week old chi, but she doesnāt pee that much?
I have a 9, almost 10, week old chihuahua. I was doing hour long bathroom breaks, but was told that was too long, so today I chopped it down to every half hour. Well, sheās not really getting the memo. For example, I took her out at around 0800hrs where she went number 1 and 2, and since then Iāve taken her out 5 different times (it is about 1045hrs as I write this) and she hasnāt gone to the bathroom once. Everyone says they need to go to the bathroom all the time, etc etc. but she doesnāt? When I take her out, she just thinks it is playtime, and finds a pinecone, branch, etc to play with, or she eats grass. Iāve debated putting her down for a nap, then taking her out, but I want her to pee before I do that.
Any advice?
I feel confused and unsure what to do as I feel like sheās not peeing when she should or not enough? And I feel like every 30 mins is overkill?

Questions Another one, or no
I have a 12 pound Chihuahua mix (chi/Yorkie/miniature schnauzer) who was three months old when we all went into quarantine for Covid. We have been working on socialization ever since. We have been mostly successful, but sheās still very shy on occasion.
She knows sheās little, and is weird about tall people and big dogs, as sheās afraid of being stepped on. She has no real basis for this, yet it persists.
Sheās lived with big dogs, and has been social to a point but never plays with them. She does get along great with the cats, but again, is not responding to prompts to play or cuddle with them.
We are in a house now with two large dogs. She has chosen not to be social with them. Iām wondering at this point if my jealous, possessive little girl would do better with company and a playmate her size.
I have the opportunity to bring in an eight week old puppy who is confident, social, and plays with big dogs. Has anyone been in this situation with a shy and possessive chi, and maybe have any recommendations? Any advice or suggestions would be welcome.

Photo Adopting 3 chihuahua mixes - 3rd post - update
galleryUpdate on the adoption of Spicy Jesus, Mr. Pickles & Miss Wiggles.
Ok, it is Wednesday evening and we will be driving 2 hours on Saturday to Newburgh, NY to finally meet our spicy little man, Spicy Jesus. I am nervous and beside myself with anticipation. I read through his medical history. During his intake, he was too spicy to be looked at by a vet. Later, he was bitten severely by another dog at the rescue. They had to put a drain in and when they took that out and the sutures he had to be sedated and eventually had to be given ketamine because he was still very sensitive to stimuli! Weāre bringing a pair of heavy duty work gloves to help get him in the crate just in case, but idk if itāll help. š His decompression area is set up. I also have quiet bedrooms he can be moved to as well.
Anyone on here have to sedate their small dogs for vet visits?
Everyone else here at the house is doing fantastic. Miss Wiggles & Mr. Pickles really are dream dogs.
I hope Iām not ruining the harmony by bringing in a third. But the rescue said heās good with other dogs and cats as long as they give him space and these pets do. Iāve also read a lot that having calm dogs in the home can help a nervous newcomer. I sure hope so. ā„ļøā„ļøā„ļø

Questions Chi insurance advise
Hey Iāve been going down the world of insurances for my male chi and itās been honestly so confusing what I should do,
I want a lifetime policy and roughly covered 7 - 10k
I was looking at getting pet plan as I like the fact dental is included but read reviews on how much they add to your policy and the numbers are insane, I couldnāt afford 200 pounds every month
I also looked at admiral but it seems a bit too good to be true
I love him so much and I want to make sure whatever I pick is the best for him,
Any help or experiences you have would be greatly appreciated
( Ps this is my boy and heās called Jonny Boy ) less

Owner Queenie - Queen of the Night, with 4 gen pedigree
galleryThis is Queenie. Iāve included a 4 gen pedigree; people have asked, what does it take to make a Champion? Really helps to start with a Ch. you can follow back 4 generations.
Pic 1 - chillin on the bed
Pic 2 - winners pic
Pic 3 - starting trouble with big brother
Pic 4 - AKC pedigree
Pic 5 - 12 hr old pic.
Queenie is our #3 female, but is my fav, she luvs to cuddle on my neck when watching TV.
There is one inception going back where neither mom or dad was a Ch. thatās the only reason she is at the bottom of the Females. Other pedigrees will have every Sire as Ch or GCh. Just a lil about show dogs.
These are older pics but from start to current. There is a pic in another post of her and 2 others⦠just wanted to share with the sub š

Questions Long coat or short coat? 4-week-old puppies
galleryHi everyone!
These little ones are 4 weeks old today, and I'm super curious about whether they will grow up to have long or short coats.
Iāve read online that you can sometimes tell by looking at the fuzz length (the little ones are currently around 8mm) or by checking behind the ears and the back of the paws/legs for early feathering. is there any way to tell at this age? When do you usually know for sure if they are smooth coat or long coat?
( Here are a few pictures of them )
Thanks in advance for your help! ( Mom is long hair and dad short hair, ) This is what the mom looked like at 2 months: https://www.reddit.com/r/chihuahuas/s/GITgefMXnt

Discussion Mexico's National Guard has debuted a new recruit, a Chihuahua named Comando. Meet Comando!!?
Mexico's National Guard has debuted a new recruit, a Chihuahua named Comando.
The tiny 13-month-old pup is being trained as a mascot and for search-and-rescue work as well.
Comando may be tiny, but Mexico's National Guard is giving him a very big role.
Outfitted with miniature goggles, a fitted tactical vest, a helmet and even a petite head-mounted camera, the 7-kilogram Chihuahua has become the most unusual ā and smallest ā canine member of the force.
Officers said the 13-month-old pup was being trained not just as a crowd-pleasing mascot but for search-and-rescue work as well.
Diminutive Comando, who stands 21 centimetres tall, looks nothing like the powerful dogs usually associated with military or police units.
During a training session in Mexico City last week, the little dog scampered up stairs and over obstacles while a much larger, fully trained canine named Roko looked on.
Lieutenant Debora Hernandez said Comando challenged two stereotypes: That only big dogs can serve in the National Guard, and that a military-style force cannot build a warmer connection with the public.
His presence, she said, reminded people that "beneath the uniform, we are human beings".
The force adopted Comando about six months ago in the northern state of Chihuahua, which inspired the breed's name, after his elderly owners became unable to care for him.
Comando now appears at civic ceremonies, school events and community outreach programs.
Comando is an outlier in a National Guard canine force of about 350 dogs, most of them traditional working breeds such as German shepherds and labrador retrievers.
Chihuahuas, known for their large upright ears, big personalities and expressive eyes, may be alert and energetic, but they are rarely seen as candidates for serious operational work.
About Comando
⢠Size: He stands 21 centimeters (8 inches) tall and weighs 7 kilograms (15 pounds).
⢠Gear: He wears custom tactical gear, including a fitted vest, a helmet, goggles, and a small head-mounted camera.
⢠Background: The force adopted Comando six months ago in the northern state of Chihuahua after his elderly owners could no longer care for him. He lives at the headquarters, follows officer routines, and wears custom shirts and boots.
