Let's talk about rules.
Howdy, folks!
This subreddit hasn't had codified rules in a while, mostly because the people here have usually been really chill with one another.
However, the vibe has changed over the past few months, and we've noticed some nasty behavior popping up and lurking around our community.
We don't allow bigotry like racism, sexism, homophobia, or transphobia on this subreddit. Generally speaking, we expect folks to be civil and decent towards one another.
Recently, we've noticed a distinct uptick in the amount of trolls who have been showing up in the comment sections of the various protest posts. We know they're trolls because they're almost always attacking the OP or trying to diminish the protest, and they usually have user activity across many state and local subreddits.
These aren't local folks - they're people coming into our space from elsewhere to stir up trouble.
Since this sort of behavior has only been getting worse, let's discuss our subreddit rules and which ones y'all think would be good to have for this space.
For a start:
- Be civil and respectful towards one another.
- No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, or bigotry.
- No spam.
- Follow all of reddit's rules.
What other rules do you think we need?

If you're simping for ICE, please do us all a favor and leave.
Howdy, y'all. I guess it's time for me to tap the sign again, because every time there are protests in the Triangle, someone goes around and mass reports all of those posts.
Strangely, we also tend to get a lot of people who post in all sorts of local area subreddits, all over the country, just to act like they're upset about this protest or that protest, and yet have never commented in our community before. Fancy that.
So there's some underhanded fuckery afoot, and y'all should be aware of it.
This subreddit is devoted to the protection and well being of our community at large. That means all of y'all. We cannot support the extrajudicial detainment of anyone, citizen or no. This country was built on laws and principles, meant to be a shining beacon of democracy where people would get a fair shake.
One of the cool things about America is you can come here and become American. It's one of our country's major strengths.
As a country, our diversity has repeatedly protected us - patriotic members of German and Japanese communities helped the US translate enemy communications during WWII. The Navajo code talkers weren't declassified until the 1970's because they were so effective - their codes were never broken. There's also the Tuskegee Airmen and the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, an all-Japanese unit which became the most decorated unit for its size in US history.
Today is also November 20th, a solemn day for trans folks across the US. It is the Trans Day of Remembrance, when we remember those we've lost to murder or suicide over the years. Unfortunately, I recognize more than a few of those names, and I hate the way the list gets longer every year.
Times are tough for our Hispanic and LGBT friends. People are anxious and scared. Bigotry and bullshit have been stoked and set loose upon the country; hatred has been running rampant. People are going to need protection, support, and resources.
This space is meant to be a refuge and a resource for our community. If you can't respect that, or if what I have said here is somehow objectionable to you, please leave.

Exercise/Calisthenics Parks in RTP?
Hi everyone! I recently moved here from LA, where there were great outdoor spots full of people training together, and I really miss that vibe. Does anyone know of a street workout spot in or around RTP that adults actually use?
I'm specifically looking for high bars with clear space in front and behind, so I can do swings and kipping movements without hitting anything. Most playground or fitness-trail bars I've found here are too low or too close to other equipment.
Any places you'd recommend? And if there's a group that meets up to train outdoors, I'd love to join. Thanks!

Kevin and His Best Friends Are Looking for a Forever Home 🐾🧡
Update:Kevin’s adoption is pending!
Archie & Rita are still available for adoption & for their forever home.
Everyone needs a Kevin in their life… including me! 🙈🧡
We’re willing to drive for a good home.
Note: Please reach out if you’re interested in adopting any of them. You can adopt Archie and Rita together without Kevin..he has other best friends too!or Kevin & Rita or Kevin & Archie or all three.Because it’s quite far, we can only drop them off if you adopt two or three cats. If you adopt just one, you’ll need to come pick them up.
Website:http://www.sunkissedkitties.org
Kevin and his best friends is looking for his forever home, and I’m willing to drive for the right home. He’s currently with me in Concord, NC.
He is seriously the funniest little guy! He loves people, talks to you, follows you everywhere, and sometimes runs up and jumps on you like he’s trying to scare you. 😂 He loves watching TV and being part of everything you do..basically a dog in a cat’s body.
But underneath all that energy, he’s such a baby. 🥹 When he gets sleepy, he cries until you help him settle. When he wakes up, he looks for you like, “Where did you go?” Then he wants to be held like a baby until he calms down.
You can hold him, cuddle him, and love on him..he enjoys it all. He has endless energy, but he’s a good boy who doesn’t destroy things. He just wants to play and stay close to you.
And wet food four times a day, please! He’ll ask, stare, and make sure you know it’s mealtime. He’s also discovered that stealing my other cats’ food is part of his job.
Kevin’s story is special. Someone found him near Columbia, SC, while traveling. With the shelter already closed, they somehow found our Charlotte-based rescue’s home address and brought him there. We still don’t know how they found the address! The rescue was completely full, but its founder couldn’t turn him away.
She was grieving the loss of her beloved kitty, and Kevin came into her life bringing some much-needed love.
Kevin is about 6 months old, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas, and combo-test negative. His friends are also fully vetted.
🐾 He’d love to go home with his friend Archie, Rita, or both!
• Archie is a 4–5-month-old boy found in the Triangle area.
• Rita is an approximately 11-month-old girl found in the Mooresville area.
Adoption requirements:
• Adoption application
https://form.jotform.com/221983264497165
• Adoption agreement
• Vet reference
• Indoor-only home
Adoption fees:
• $150 for one kitty
• $250 for two
• $300 for all three
If your home is missing a little comedian and a very cuddly baby, please reach out. Kevin will make you wonder how you ever lived without him. 🙈🐾

Custom Neoprene Mats
Hey RTP!
I'm looking to get a custom neoprene mat created with a specific size and design. Does anyone know a business in the area that might be able to accommodate something like this?
I've added the design image here as a reference and the size would be in the ballpark of 28" x 24"
Thanks in advance!

Looking for a room in Raleigh
Hey, im 18 and im looking for a room somewhere in Raleigh, preferably close to the 27613 area. Would like to keep rent below 800 if possible. Looking for something relatively short term for now(≤ 6 months). I'll be out of the house most of the day either at school or work, so I won't really be in the way much. I'm not super picky about my living situation, as long as the place is clean and the roommates are respectful im good.
Looking for a private owner as my situation is a bit unique, I can explain more 1 on 1 later. If you've got anything lmk or shoot me a private message.
Thanks.

Good wedding dress tailors in the triangle?
Hi all, I am talking to a seamstress and wanted to get a second opinion on the size of my wedding dress.
Basically the size I tried on in the store was already a tiny bit too big but I want to add a corset back, so the bridal shop recommended I size up to have the extra fabric. Now I'm talking to the seamstress who said it should've been sized down. I don't know shit about tailoring but she said it may be too big to take in that much (I assume because then everything would need adjustments?).
It doesn't make a ton of sense to me so I want to hear another professional opinion. Thank you for any recs! <3

I compared how five Wake towns collect grass clippings. Apex stands out
One of the questions in Apex’s grass-clipping debate is: Morrisville sends its yard waste, including grass, to Raleigh — so why can’t Apex do the same?
I’m the N&O reporter who wrote this.
I looked into that as part of a comparison of five Wake municipalities. Apex officials say using Raleigh would require an agreement with the city plus a transfer operation because Apex handles a much larger volume.

Crawlspace Encapsulation recs
Interested in getting my crawlspace encapsulated and am looking for recommendations on someone to do the job. I think it is somewhere between 500-800sqft but I am not entirely sure of the exact size. I don’t really know the typical cost of an encapsulation so if anyone can tell me how much they paid, size of your crawlspace, the and how long ago it was done, I appreciate it to get a reference point. I am hoping not to spend a small fortune if possible.

Raven’s bar in the triangle?
Wondering if anyone knows any official or unofficial places that ravens fans meet up to watch games on Sunday. Fox and Hound is listed as closed online, but that is the only bar on the ravens website in the triangle.

Red Roof Inn on Saunders got a 73 sanitation grade 10/1
Heads up, this place has a serious roach infestation. From the inspection report:
Observed cockroaches in 13 out of the 18 rooms inspected. Floor three is currently closed to guest due to pest activity. The rooms have not been cleaned. They planned to clean after the treatment. However, the vacant rooms with trash, left over food, soiled towels and linens are creating a harborage for pest.

NC State student looking for a business owner/entrepreneur to interview
Hey everyone! I’m a student at NC State, and I have a class project where I need to interview a business owner or entrepreneur about their experience.
I’ve been having a really hard time finding someone who is willing to do an interview, so I figured I’d reach out here. If you own a business, run a small business, or are an entrepreneur in the Raleigh area and would be willing to help me out, I’d really appreciate it!
The interview would be fairly short and can be done by Zoom, or in person—whatever is easiest for you.
If you’re interested, please comment or send me a DM. I’d really appreciate the help! 🙏

Cary records reveal ICE-related office inquiry near RDU. Why wasn’t council told?
The N&O obtained these records. I am one of the N&O reporters who covered this story.
The records show Cary staff discussing whether a building near RDU could be used for an ICE-related office with daytime detention space. Three council members told us they had not known about the inquiry.
I am sharing it here as this concerns the broader Triangle.
