No go areas for rental ?
Which areas of downtown Raleigh in downtown Durham or no go for renting a single-family home? (no section 8 housing next to me, no high crime )
Planning to going around with the realtor, but not getting straight answers ahead of our appointment

I looked this up on Google;
A North Carolina real estate agent cannot give you personal opinions or guarantees about neighborhood safety or crime rates to avoid violations of the Fair Housing Act and illegal steering.
Discussing crime rates or safety can be misinterpreted as coded references to race, religion, or demographics, potentially violating federal fair housing regulations.
Alternative Resources for Buyers • Public Crime Maps: Check open-access mapping services like CrimeMapping or SpotCrime to review specific incidents and local crime data yourself. • Local Police Departments: Contact the community interaction or crime prevention officer at the local police department that patrols the target area for official statistics and neighborhood feedback. • Personal Observation: Drive through the prospective neighborhood at different times of day and days of the week, and talk directly with residents to gauge the environment firsthand.

The realtor is unlikely to give you a straight answer, imo, and their opinions on the desirability of different areas is probably 10-20 years out of date.

It’s likely illegal for them to give a straight answer on this. Ridiculous and dangerous law, but all in the name of progress!

Try North Hills (Midtown if you're a chud). It's a fake downtown for folks like you.
