All three of them are awful choices. They are good enough actors but they have baby faces and don't have that bond swagger.

Jack Lowden, Callum Turner, Aaron Taylor-Johnson are my pick. All have a youthful new appearance but don't look like they are in there early 20s

53

u/redhafzke 13h ago

Your picks but Jack O’Connell instead of Callum Turner.

30

u/Bongressman 13h ago

I'm down with this lineup. I don't detest Callum, he's just doesn't have "it" in this regard. The other three are fine.

Please no more Holland. Please.

1

u/Apart-Goal-5550 3h ago

I think Callum has been thrown into too many rom com roles. His acting in "masters of the air" is really good tho.

3

u/furcifer89 6h ago

Jack Lowden is my #1 pick and to the poster who suggested Jack O’Connell I would love to see him play the villain in a new bond movie. I need more of that Sinners and Bone Temple energy from him

0

u/dabombnl 9h ago

Tom Holland is not a good enough actor.

oh please just not more tom holland and zendaya

u/Ok-Relationship-2746 13h ago

Package deal now.

u/Voidless-One 13h ago

15

u/onion_lord6 11h ago

I feel like this meme is appropriate for most casting choices these days.

3

u/Poddington_Pea 10h ago

They'll form their own production company next.

103

u/4675636b2e 13h ago

Zendaya as Bond, and Tom Holland as a bond girl makes more sense than vice versa, and it's weird.

20

u/Animewaifylord 12h ago edited 10h ago

Maybe split the two, Tom as James the field agent who does the action and the dirty work and Zendaya as Bond the charismatic reconnisance spy and they work as a duo

4

u/BEWMarth 10h ago

Man why can’t we have more people like you in the writers room!

10

u/Zjoee 12h ago

I mean, after seeing Tom's performance of Umbrella, he could pull it off haha.

2

u/Its_emby 3h ago

Jane Bond and Dicky Phallus.

63

u/Far_Balance_3117 13h ago

Tom Holland looks like he would order a juice box, not a dry martini.

3

u/Present_Error_6256 7h ago

He's a recovering alcoholic, so you're probably right lmao.

1

u/SheriffBartholomew 3h ago

Apple. Juice. Poured, not in the box.

10

u/CipherWeaver 13h ago

Bond and Bond girl in the next

1

u/Phenomenomix 12h ago

Tom as Bond and Zendy as the main villain would be better casting

3

u/jfleury440 12h ago

Sure. But I don't want it. Don't do that.

2

u/PowerfulNature3352 10h ago

Yeah, main villian who will just pout and look clueless when she corners Bond instead of disclosing all her evil plan.

Dont know which ones is worst tbh.

2

u/skydragon1981 12h ago

I don't know why the commenter just wrote "a bond woman", it would be Zendaya 1000%, commenter might have put that name inside parentheses

1

u/Beware-of-Chicken 12h ago

Tom Holland as bond. Zendaya as bond girl. Confirmed.

279

u/BigMetalGuy 14h ago

Tom Holland would be a terrible Bond. He is not on the list.

52

u/dinglecrook 13h ago

He's not a good actor. Can you watch any scene with him and not think, "That's Tom Holland."

52

u/Other-Grapefruit-880 13h ago

Listen to a clip of Sean Connery playing a Spaniard in Highlander.

9

u/MusicLikeOxygen 12h ago

I don't know if it makes it better or worse, but he's actually playing an Egyptian pretending to be a Spaniard.

→ More replies (1)

26

u/nonoanddefinitelyno 13h ago

And a French guy who literally couldn't speak English playing a Scotsman.

God, I love that movie.

1

u/fluffytme 7h ago

Or a Russian in The hunt for red October

1

u/GopherChomper64 3h ago

Yeah but that was so bad it was good. Tom Holland is just always Tom Holland is the guys point. Him being Bond would be a horrible choice, and I think Tom Holland would agree with that statement based on every interview I've seen of him. I think he has enough self awareness to know being Bond isn't for him

1

u/SheriffBartholomew 3h ago

True, but he was Sean fucking Connery and Tom Holland isn't.

23

u/Tega02 12h ago

Terrible fucking lie. His only problem is Spidey comes to mind when you see him. He's a great actor

12

u/RhubarbLiqueur 13h ago

Yes, I can. I've seen The Devil All the Time.

8

u/linesofleaves 11h ago

Beat me to it. Its basically just opportunity and direction that let people imagine that Robert Pattinson and Tom Holland weren't excellent and talented performers.

9

u/Cpt_kaleidoscope 13h ago

He was really good in the devil all the time. Not the best film ever but his performance was solid.

11

u/zeelbeno 13h ago

Yeah I decide how good an actor is based on the makeup department.

If i can name the actor or actress without looking it up then it's immediately a crap performance.

19

u/Gates_wupatki_zion 13h ago

Thank you! People were loving his role in the Odyssey and I was like — why? Everyone knows that’s tom holland. He’s done nothing to make the character his own except play dress up.

1

u/AnswerGrand1878 11h ago

Everytime I read comments that make these factual statements about famous people I wonder what the actual qualification to make that statement is. Since the statement isn't "I don't like him" but "he is not a good actor" surely there must be some experience and reasoning behind it?

1

u/cromulent_weasel 9h ago

It was very jarring at the movies watching the spider man ads, and then Spiderman was in the Oddyssey....

1

u/Present_Error_6256 7h ago

I thought he was pretty good in the Odyssey, but I see your point.

102

u/KathyJaneway 13h ago

I'd take Taron Egerton as Bond. He has proven he could play a spy type character with the Kingsman franchise. And he'd be the first Welsh born actor to play a Bond since Timothy Dalton.

53

u/DrJongyBrogan 13h ago

People would just think he's Eggsy though.

21

u/KathyJaneway 12h ago

Would they? They're differently written. Eggsy was braggadocious and edgy and cursing. Bond is calm, soft spoken. Basically what Collin Firth played in Kingsmen.

13

u/Big_bat_chunk2475 13h ago

I see the vision clearly and I support it

3

u/Remarkable_Cream9443 12h ago

Pretty much the only good choice from who’s available. Unless they decide to go with an unknown name. He could play the role longer than most others to take the title as well.

→ More replies (10)

21

u/bl4zkowicz 13h ago

patrick gibson would be better, his performance in the 007 first light was really good

9

u/XLNBot 11h ago

There should be no debate, this is the correct choice

9

u/LoveMind_AI 13h ago

He's got a very interesting look for the part, to be sure. Just unique enough to differentiate the space in a similar way to what Craig did. If they leaned any less sturdy than this (ie. all three guys listed above), they'd really be doing the character a disservice.

43

u/yourdragonkeeper 14h ago

Jacob Elordi when a Bond woman disrobes: You've been a bad, bad dog.

30

u/LocoLocoLoco45 13h ago

Ah, silly you. Bonds don’t have sex anymore.

23

u/koalawhiskey 13h ago

You will watch Tom's Bond being saved by the Bond Girl played by Zendaya and you will like it

11

u/Nknk- 9h ago

The most un-Bond shortlist for Bond I've ever seen.

58

u/MichaelAuBelanger 13h ago

Henry Cavil - but everyone slept on it.

25

u/K2O3_Portugal 13h ago

I like Cavillrene but Edris Elba was my pick for Bond

5

u/kitsunekratom 13h ago

He's too old at this point, they want someone they can ride for 2 decades

12

u/Altruistic-Spend-896 13h ago

Idris not bond material though. Cavil did nice in mission impossible

30

u/KosstAmojan 13h ago

Idriss would have made a GREAT Bond like 15 years ago. Dude has gravitas, physical presence, and is smooth as hell. I think he would have made hell of a Bond movie.

8

u/FrameJump 13h ago

How was/is Idris not Bond material, exactly?

7

u/IrishViking22 13h ago

Processing img kfi9hv8w4hth1...

8

u/IrishViking22 12h ago

Idris would have been great as Bond. Too old now though, unfortunately

3

u/FrameJump 12h ago

You won't convince me his race didn't play a role in him not being cast, but I do think you're right about his age now, which is a shame.

2

u/IrishViking22 3h ago

Probably more a timing thing than anything else. Idris wasn't as big of a star back when Casino Royale got cast.

He himself has said before that he didn't try for it, and was never even in the running for it.

That said, I think he would have been great in the role. If they did a one-off (only one because of his age now) Bond film starring him, I'd 100% buy a ticket to see it.

Gen Z Bond be like "eww sex? No thanks!"

9

u/TheGreatTimothy 8h ago

I get that Amazon wants Tom Holland because he is the highest grossing actor of all time but I feel like it's not because it's Tom Holland. No one goes "Did you see the new Tom Holland movie?"

3

u/4Nmzry 7h ago

That's exactly right

1

u/Vinr_Odinn 37m ago

I feel that him and Zandaya have been almost forced into every movie. I kinda don't want to watch a movie when I see that either of them is in it.

15

u/taway9925881 13h ago

They should cast Tom Holland as a bond girl.

3

u/onion_lord6 11h ago

But then, what about Zendaya?

2

u/taway9925881 10h ago

She'll play the bond villain

7

u/Galromir 10h ago

I love Tom Holland to bits but I’m struggling to see him as Bond.

17

u/EldenDarkshell 13h ago

Please no Tom Holland

5

u/PluralistSingularity 13h ago

Harris Dickinson?? Needs more cowbell.

5

u/Spobobich 13h ago

I'm guessing Amazon wants another Nathan Drake situation.

2

u/asscrackbanditz 12h ago

No please. I like Tom Holland as Spidey but leave Uncharted to another rising star who looks the part.

8

u/Gates_wupatki_zion 13h ago

Wow, none of these would be much good. My vote is for Jack Lowden from slow horses. We know he can do action and some comedy.

2

u/EhMapleMoose 10h ago

Fuck you’re so right, Jack Lowden looks the part.

Harris Dickinson would make a great Q though. Jacob Elrodi could make a good patsy villain. A fake out or something.

2

u/Gates_wupatki_zion 5h ago

I like this. Elordi would make a great villain which in many ways is just as important as a good bond.

11

u/sc1onic 12h ago

Please. He ruined Nathan Drake. Leave James bond alone. And I don't need zendaya doing an onatopp.

4

u/strechyleggings 12h ago

Please no tom Holland or the performative frat boy jacob

4

u/SheriffBartholomew 3h ago

Dude, the guy who plays Loki would be a shoe in for Bond. He already did a TV show where he plays a spy of sorts.

2

u/auxaperture 2h ago

If you mean Tom Hiddleston then yes, that’s actually a great pick. He was excellent in the night manager.

15

u/LoveMind_AI 13h ago

Idris Elba is definitely too old for the role, but after watching Lanterns and several interviews afterwards, I feel like Aaron Pierre would be an incredibly fierce and believable Bond.

2

u/poppyfieldinhell 12h ago

Holy shit, you just activated some neurons in my brain. I love him in Lanterns, but I wasn't actively thinking about what other roles he could play.

2

u/MITBijanRobinson 11h ago

James Bond isn’t black tho

3

u/SeaWolf24 13h ago

None of those have the range atm

2

u/AnOldLawNeverDies 10h ago

You dont need range for bond that was more of a Craig era thing. Charisma is more important.

2

u/SeaWolf24 10h ago

I would consider charisma to be apart of the range displayed. To be able to be charismatic and detached is a range of emotions. I respectfully disagree

1

u/AnOldLawNeverDies 10h ago

Thats fine. I don't think being detached is a requirement for bond again more of a Craig era thing. I miss seeing bond genuinely love being a spy, getting the girls, saving the day all while being the coolest guy in the room and he knows it.

1

u/SeaWolf24 10h ago

Tbh, I don’t believe we’ll see a bond like that at this point in time.

1

u/AnOldLawNeverDies 9h ago

Why in your opinion? Is it the getting the girl part? The obsession of character deconstruction?

7

u/a_fish1 12h ago

Everyone forgetting about Paul Bettany. He would be a great bond but also a great villain 😂😅

4

u/affemannen 12h ago

He fck would have aced bond. But isn't he also aging out now?

2

u/a_fish1 12h ago

A little bit 🤏 It's a shame really

6

u/h-ck3d4cc0unt 10h ago

Please no more Tom Holland.

6

u/nezhp 13h ago

The dude that played superman, Henry Cavill i think

6

u/Informal_Carob_4015 11h ago

Man pretending he barely knows who Henry Cavill is lmaoo

1

u/nezhp 11h ago

I know his hairy chest pretty well, just was not sure how his name is spelled chill out sis

4

And had a stellar performance in The Man From UNCLE movie.

1

And in everything else 🤣

Oh my god, if any of these are really on the list, James Bond just died!

2

Tom Holland Bond = Kingsman

2

u/salgarj 12h ago

I'm ok with Tom if it's Hiddleston.

2

u/_serious___sam_ 12h ago

Idris or no one.

2

u/Stringr55 11h ago

I thought it was going to be Jack Lowden?

3

u/Dominionix 11h ago

Henry Cavill or Theo James are the only real options in my mind.

2

u/hiberniagermania 11h ago

I own all the Bond films and love them, I just can’t see Elordi or Holland.

2

u/Lykos4 9h ago

Tom Holland gives me virgin energy, what kinda retard would see him fit for Bond?

2

u/Comfortable-Pace3132 8h ago

Tom Holland when asked if he wants it shaken or stirred: do you have Sprite?

2

u/zubairhamed 8h ago

Where the fkity fck is Jack Lowden!?

2

u/PuddingMent 8h ago

Tom Holland is a better choice than the two unknowns, but he’s too short and unsexy to play the part.

2

u/fucktheus12 8h ago

Not holland , he's 5 ft tall

2

u/jim9162 8h ago

Jacob Elordi?

How the hell is he gonna fit in an Aston Martin.

1

u/SnooMacaroons6049 12h ago

Those are all god awful choices.

1

u/Mouse-Patrol 12h ago

Just a totally unknown actor would do as long as they have the athletic ability and charisma.

1

u/Nylanderthal88 12h ago

Use Pierce Brosnan again.

1

u/Nibsif 12h ago

Tom Holland looks like a child

1

u/DeapVally 12h ago

James Bond is not a short man. Tom Holland would look silly in the role.

1

u/rangerquiet 12h ago

Meme creator not understanding what acting is or just lazy humour?

1

u/Redditor608 12h ago

There’s a certain standard of actors who can portray bond Tom holland whom contrasts with the mature, weathered gravitas traditionally associated with Commander Bond of the British royal navy do not fit not to mention Tom holland having conflicting studios contracts.

Plus Barbara Broccoli who is the long time franchise producer holds the final veto and authority on the official choice and would probably not allow such and have strict standards as to who can play bond.

1

u/Aeon1508 12h ago

love Tom Holland.

James Bond isn't short...

but he isn't blonde either... so we'll see what happens

1

u/lumberzach619 12h ago

Worst casting list ever

1

u/lumberzach619 12h ago

Worst casting list ever

1

u/mcfrith 11h ago

Holland as Bond would be about as bad a casting as Holland as Nathan Drake. He’s a fine actor and all; he's just not Bond.

1

u/TenBear 11h ago

Fuck no. Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan, Craig and..........Tom Holland???

1

u/ThrustBastard 11h ago

Give me Pierce Brosnan and old-man Bond.

Daniel Craig's Bond is dead, someone from the past comes back and retired Bond Brosnan is recalled to service. "James Bond" is established as a pseudonym attacked to 007. Brosnan with Ben Whishaw's Q would be excellent.

1

u/HilariousMax 11h ago

Jokes sure but Tom Holland as Bond would sell an absolute shit ton of tickets at the theater. Does he fit a typical view of Bond? No, but they want to sell tickets so ...

1

u/ElvishLore 11h ago

Holland isn’t actually on this list.

Supposedly it’s between elordi and jack lowden.

Dickinson is incredibly unlikely.

1

u/LavenderDecaf_5266 11h ago

I hate jacob elordi he just doesnt have that bond DNA in him

1

u/zZCycoZz 11h ago

Theo James seems like a good fit after watching season 2 of the gentlemen

1

1

1

u/LeoGMS22 11h ago

1

u/oPlayer2o 11h ago

I still want Idris Elba.

1

u/bold-One2199 13h ago

Why is everyone hating on tom

7

u/Bongressman 12h ago

Because you can overdo a good thing. He's a "fine" actor. But he's not great, by any measure. He's also perpetually cursed with "boy" face. Bond really can't be perceived as a... kid. It's just, no.

3

u/bold-One2199 12h ago

I will agree he has a very boyish face.

I think it works for some roles and doesn’t for others

Spidey? Works just fine

James Bond? I’ll agree, no. James Bond is more mature

2

u/sp4ng13d 12h ago

If they adapted the young bond series by Charlie Higson he might have a shot in my books lol

2
