Where's beautifully Autumnal in Glasgow?
Here's a pic I did in Spring that I like, but they'll be better seasonal pics going on now. Autumns the most beautiful season for Scotland I reckon. I'm wanting to take some pics for a photography book I'm doing on Glasgow, so does anyone know places that look amazing just now please? They'll be parks and green spots but could even by kinda random trees on street corners or something like that. Anything...

We filmed Hallyard / Camilla Castle in Fife before it's erased for a 600MW AI data centre - 1000 years of history, refused listed status
Located NW of Auchtertool, Hallyards (Hall yairds - "the yards at the hall") is reputed to have been Malcolm Canmore's hunting seat, then residence of the Bishops of Dunkeld until 1539.
John Knox wrote about fighting there between French troops and the Lords of the Congregation. In Feb 1560 it was reported "clean overthrown". James Hamilton, 3rd Earl of Arran escaped via bedsheets to get there before meeting Mary Queen of Scots at Falkland Palace.
Now Planning Ref 26/01243/PPP for the £5bn Cato data centre proposes to build directly over it. HES refused listed status per The National on 2nd Oct.
We walked and flew it last week so there's at least a record. Photo from the flight attached, full video here - https://youtu.be/ml6TwgC2fb8

Question Scottish Videogame Youtuber ?
Hi everybody,
I hope this is the good place to ask !
We plan to visit Scotland with my girlfriend next year. I heard from friends that your accent is pretty difficult to understand for frenchies like us 😄
So I'd like to train my ears with some scottish content. I enjoy videogame content on youtube (games review or retro games for instance, or content like game analysis based on several games).
Do you know some people that make this kind of video ?
Many thanks in advance for your help !

Question Dual citizen but never been
Edit to add: turns out my company has offices all over the UK, so I’ll keep my eye out for internal job postings.
Hi everyone. So as it says above, I’m a dual citizen to the UK and I’ve never been. My dad is from Glasgow and mum is from Liverpool, but they had me in Canada.
I’m now nearing 40, my kids are almost grown, and I’m ready to try a change. Kids have always known once they are grown and out, that I’d be moving away. I stayed in Canada for them.
I don’t want to romanticize anything and am looking for practical information but know kind of what I’m looking for.
I want to live somewhere outside of a city centre. I prefer small towns/villages, and the more wilderness the better. I want a place where folks know each other.
If I could get some names of places to consider that would be great and I can have a jumping off point. Where to search for homes? Any planning advice at all. I’ll be out of my depth for sure.
Also, I’m an archaeologist so any info on the job market if an archaeologist happens to see this.
* I don’t mind the cold. I live in the sunniest city in Canada and I can’t stand it. I feel like I’m crisping like fried chicken and would rather it rained everyday. So don’t avoid suggesting places further north. If Scotland doesn’t work, I’m seriously considering the Northwest Territories in Canada.

Music A wee hello from the Highlands 👋🏴
We've recently joined Reddit, so thought we’d introduce ourselves to r/Scotland!
We’re the team behind Belladrum, a three-day festival in the Scottish Highlands, just outside Inverness.
We’ve just announced our first three acts for 2027. James, Fatboy Slim and Amy Macdonald with 300+ more to be annoucned.
The line up is only part of what we're about -
There’s a woodland wellbeing zone, street theatre, comedy, cabaret, 100+ family activities included in your ticket, food, 14 stages, late night entertainment, big crowd moments and plenty of random things to discover along the way.
It’s basically a few days of disappearing into your own wee world - a proper festival escape.
So… who’s been to Bella before, and what’s your favourite thing about it?
And if you’ve never been , we're curious, what would make you give a Scottish festival a try?!

Question Has anyone dealt with the experience of going through the FTT process in order to be evicted?
Quick context: I've been living in a flat in Edinburgh, surviving on benefits because of disability, for about 16 years. For a good chunk of that (maybe eight years?) I've been applying to get a council house, but as I have no priority I've had no progress, and don't really ever expect to to be honest.
I was served a Notice to Quit, about 2 months ago, effective at the end of October. I tried to contact the council to get in touch with me to help, and they only just managed to get around to that the week before last. In talking with the Housing Officer they've assigned, I get the feeling that I am being encouraged to stay beyond the date given for me to leave this flat, because it is "legal" and I would be "doing nothing wrong".
This feels complicated. I have literally nowhere to move to - I have been searching, but nowhere in the city is within the housing benefit rates any more, and the mid-market rental advertisements reject me for having too low an income. But if I stay, I worry that I will get into a pretty scary dispute with the letting agency; the prospect of going through the "First-Tier Tribunal" is intimidating, and obviously the agency won't be happy.
Has anyone had experience of going through this process? Does it get messy, and have lasting consequences, despite it being "legal"? If I wasn't facing the actual, literal prospect of being homeless, I wouldn't be considering this.
The Housing Officer also brought up another point, which honestly feels pretty fucked up: if I leave before all legal avenues have been explored, up to the point where sheriff officers are called to enforce an eviction, I will be considered "voluntarily homeless" instead of "involuntarily", and the council won't give me any priority towards being allocated social housing.
So, yeah. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this, and what their experiences were like, or if anyone can offer advice.

Loch Lomond Sea Plane - July 2013
Came across this in my archives whilst backing stuff up. Hope it might be of interest to some.
From the now defunct Loch Lomond Sea Planes excursions. A ~1hr flight over Lochs and the West Coast, summarised into 14mins. It does have sound but most of it is plane/engine noise, with some of my post flight commentary text pointing out some highlights or places of interest.
