Hello everyone!
Here's our thread for all things Old Gods in Reign of Black Empire! But before we get into it, here's a quick overview of the new cards:
Reign of the Black Empire features the four Old Gods as Legendary Neutral minions:
This is the age of the Black Empire, when these nightmarish rulers stood at the height of their power and their influence shaped all of Azeroth. For this reason, Old Gods pack a lot of power and work a bit differently than normal cards.
Now, let's take a look behind the curtain with John McIntyre, Principal Game Designer Supervisor, as he walks through the design of each Old God.
⚔️ Y’Shaarj, Titan Bane
Early in development, Y'Shaarj was the only Old God that could use two abilities each turn. It quickly proved to be the most viable because it offered much more flexibility. Instead of choosing between responding to your opponent or developing your own threats, you could do both.
The mechanic felt so good in playtesting that we adopted it as a baseline for all the Old Gods. Being able to combine and sequence abilities added meaningful decisions and gave players more ways to influence the game.
We still wanted Y'Shaarj to feel distinct, so we gave it its Immune Battlecry. This helps it survive your opponent's turn and reinforces the fantasy that Y'Shaarj has access to more power than the other Old Gods. One point of clarification: the 30 Mana spent on minions does not include Y'Shaarj itself.
👁️C'Thun, Eye of the Empire
Earlier versions of C'Thun also tripled the effects of your other cards that triggered C'Thun abilities. In practice, this led to a strategy where players would simply pair C'Thun with the cheapest possible followers and quickly overwhelm the game.
That play pattern ran counter to the fantasy we wanted. C'Thun should be the source of power, not just an amplifier for its servants. To better capture that feeling, we changed the design so C'Thun only empowers the abilities it uses directly. This also allowed us to shift more of the power budget into C'Thun itself.
🐙N'Zoth, Dream's End
Originally, Army of N'Zoth didn't resurrect different minions. It only took a few playtests alongside Quest Priest for us to change that.
The update reduced repetition and encouraged players to build decks with a wider variety of Deathrattle minions, leading to more interesting gameplay and more varied resurrection pools.
🧠 Mastermind Yogg-Saron
When Mastermind Yogg-Saron takes your turn, it follows logic similar to the "normal" difficulty AI opponents found in Practice Mode. It's not random, but it's not especially clever either.
During testing, it felt jarring when Yogg-Saron used its abilities in the middle of a turn, so we changed the behavior to always begin the turn by using an ability. We also made Ascent of Yogg-Saron always resolve after Domain of Yogg-Saron so any newly drawn spells could still be transformed.
Ascent of Yogg-Saron still has the same chance of being selected as any of the other three abilities.
We hope you enjoyed this peek behind the curtain!

Just an old hearthstone player who just returned to the game.
Seriously, what have they done to the game?
Every limited draft has endless resources, cards, and value. Every game is 30 minutes long. It doesn't matter what class I take or what hero power I have. All decks end up the same. Endless value and resources. Why does every card have good stats for a low cost while at the same time draw or discorver cards that have deathrattle that summon even more creatures. It never ends. Worst design I have seen in a long time.

Not sure what the "haggling" period will be like but hopefully that pushes items back into a reasonable price range for most of you.

So people are probably missing the following: When you play Isiset, the constructs are frozen and have summoning sickness. But afterwards they are only frozen and immediately stop being frozen after casting 15 mana worth of spells. That means, that they will be able to attack immediately once unfrozen unless Isiset was played the same turn.
So for your opponent that means they either have to deal with the 10/10s anyway or risk suddenly getting hit with 20 damage to the face.
Now don't get me wrong. I don't think that Isiset will be a top tier card or anything. You still have to find a turn to be able to play her without dying. But I also don't think that it will be garbage.

At least not as bad. I'm new to card games like this. Never played Magic, or Pokemon or anything remotely like this.
I booted it up and did the tutorial and played around versus some AI, which I can kind of win. Any real match? I get absolutely trounced and I lack any dust or know how to really craft any kind of slightly usable deck.
I used to be really bad at fighting games, but after some studying I managed to get pretty good, and that's where I want to be with Hearthstone.
I don't want to be a top 500 competitor or even hit legend or anything, I just want to be able to win one match every 10-20 matches or so, but I have no idea how to build decks effectively or what to even play.
Do you guys have any resources on where someone should get started? Any Youtube people you trust, or decks you recommend for new people? What class/heroes?

Another Reno card was chosen as the best hearthstone card of it's cost. Great card, just like our second place — the Ragnaros! And then there is this piece of..
Alright, here are the rules guys! The card must be collectible and must cost exactly 9 mana as for today's voting. Which card would it be and what criteria will be chosen to determine it – it's up to you!

Literally all of its cards have been nerfed throughout the year, and yet Dragon Warrior is always Tier 1.
I think the main thing that has kept it alive and strong is that the "good dragons" archetype has been consistently supported throughout the entire year. (Print good cards every set and they get played, duh, I know.)
But I don't think any other deck currently uses as many cards from across the entire year as Dragon Warrior does. Prescient Slitherdrake and Stadium Announcer in timeways, Carrier Whelp in cata, Darkrider, warptooth etc etc

Assemble is the new keyword coming Oct 20: you get a random minion, then swap the top or bottom half of its text with half of one of two other minions. I wanted to try it before launch, so I built a little site for it.

What you can do
How it's built
It follows what Blizzard has confirmed: the cost band (same Cost up to 2 more), Neutral plus your class, no Assemble minions or Old Gods, nothing that needs the minion alive under a Deathrattle, and the trait cards (Chisel, Fleshshape, Sandcrafter) only promising the trait on your minion. Rajh gets its own pool of halves that work as a passive hero power.
What it can't know is the exact list of ~250 pool cards, so I use a wider pool (about 590 minions) and cut cards whose halves can't work apart. Some cards you make here won't exist in the real game. There's a "What's real here?" panel that separates confirmed rules from my own calls.
If you build something that couldn't work in game, there's a "report it here" link under every result. I've already cut a few cards from early reports.
What's the dumbest card you can make?
