Could anyone provide some information regarding this? For your reference, I have purchased tickets through the Red Sox playoffs tickets purchase opportunity drawings.

Y'all are always gonna find somethin to complain about with any free agent. We could have had either of these guys. Both hit home runs and show up in the postseason, unlike just about everyone in our lineup.

Red Sox: Gasper undergoes surgery to repair biceps tendon

The injury kept him out of the Wild Card Series, which Boston lost to the New York Yankees.
The Red Sox said Gasper's distal biceps tendon repair surgery was performed at MassGeneral Brigham in Boston.

The team didn't give a timeline for his recovery, but a study published in 2023 showed that it could take six to nine months for athletes to return to competition. The study said the surgery has a high success rate.

Everybody is so quick to say Roman is soft, but he quietly put together a 3 game streak at the end of the regular season. He is now only 2,629 games behind Ripken.

If Ripken was known as The Iron Man, what should Roman’s nickname be?

A final thought on Tracy

You frequently hear people talking about how important offensive support is for pitchers, that it's a constant stress on them feeling like they have to be perfect every pitch. I think there's a good argument that a similar effect was putting pressure on Tracy based on the Sox' offensive woes (partially due to injuries) pretty much all through September.

I think Tracy made mistakes pulling both Tolle and Gray; I'm not trying to excuse what he did, just understand it (at a level deeper than the crowd immediately jumping to "analytics bad"). I think it was a rookie manager mistake made because he was thinking too much about the Sox' inability to score runs in September. The bigger mistake was that he didn't fully commit to it, especially in the second game. If you really think that Bellinger PA in an elimination game is important enough to pull your best starter, then you should go for your best bullpen arm right then instead of saving them for a situation that may or may not happen later.

I'm hoping that he learned from the mistake, and am honestly more concerned at his inability to diagnose and do something about the offensive collapse in September.

Free agency is gonna suck this year... but there's one player I want to take a further look at.

I know I should be grieving like everyone else. And free agency really SUCKS this year. The best HR bat available is probably Seiya Suzuki, and I am entirely unsure that he is the answer. Sure, he's a 30HR bat, but I think you can even save up for an even better bat later on.

But I want everyone to look at Jake Bauers from Milwaukee. He isn't the Brewer style player, where he bunts and steals bases the small ball way. However, he is a low-radar, and a total MASHER. He is having an elite year and not many baseball fans notice. It isn't luck either. He hits elite fastballs better than Suzuki, Lowe, Pena, or Arrozarena.

Now elite pitching is considered elite for a reason. But we were almost DEVASTED by any above average fastball, especially from right handed pitchers. He isn't exactly a masher, he hit a pretty good 26 home runs this season, but he is still slugging .550 against those fastballs. I think that's our best bet. He doesn't play an amazing first base, but he will be able to show up in any instance where Contreras needs to DH or fill in if he is injured. I would call him the Masa replacement.

I don't think he will break the bank either, if you want to take a run at Murakami later. Just encourage everyone to take a look.

I'll be scouting him as he faces the Padres in the ALDS.

My take

Everyone’s going to have a take on what happened. Mine is just, no one should have been surprised. If you look at basically every game after the all-star break, it’s like they forgot what got them to that point. I, at least, spent a large part of September saying “oh, they are on track to clinch, they are just resting their good guys.” But looking back that wasn’t true. The truth was that no one was responding to poor performance fast enough.

The big difference was the willingness to adapt. In June and July you saw these quick changes in strategy and that’s why games were won. There was none of that in August and September. It seemed like any fan could look at the TV and realize that this pitcher or that one needed to be taken out before there was any more damage. It was easy to look at offensive changes and ask why this person or that one needed to be put in mid game when the person they were replacing was doing pretty good.

A lot of people right now are blaming analytics and scripts. Maybe that’s what it comes down to. But I don’t understand why all of that is secondary to common sense. Put it this way, if you start seeing shots of Tracy on TV during the game, it means the director is expecting a change. That person can see that something needs to happen. The commentators can see something needs to happen. So do the fans. Because it’s common sense.

A good manager should know better than everyone else, not worse, and that’s why things fell apart.

Position Players: who is untouchable?

Obviously we need to make some changes next year, specifically in our offense. Which means we need to make some free agent pickups, and probably also some trades to make some room. We have too many outfielders, too many middle infielders if Mead heals up and Arias is called up, and too many first basemen (If Casas ever heals up). Granted, that’s a lot of ifs.

My question to the sub, who is 100% untouchable to you from this group? Not mostly untouchable, the person you don’t give up no matter the offer.

For me, I think the only person like that is Contreras. I like a lot of our players, but we need more thump. I’m not saying blow it all up, but I wouldn’t mind a drastic change if we got some amazing bats. What about you? Who needs to stay no matter what?

The complete 180 this fanbase has done on Chad Tracy is crazy to me

Like, I agree that he completely mismanaged the 2 Wild Card games by taking our starters out too early. But just a few weeks ago this fanbase was saying how great he is and how he should be the permanent manager going forward. Now all of a sudden he’s terrible and should be fired. I don’t get it. Maybe give him next season at the very least to see if he learns from his mistakes before calling for his head.

Teruaki Sato

Hey Red Sox, I love you but we need to make smarter choices. One being keeping your eye on Teruaki Sato...from my Japanese team Hanshin Tigers. There is talk of opening his contract to MLB ... he just hit his 39th home run of the season today. I don't want him to leave the Tigers, but if he came to the Red Sox I would probably scream and cry. There are even Japanese ppl commenting they would like to see him go to Boston b/c (and I translate and summarize) 'they are a building team, who need some adjustments and then they could be an amazing team. Sato shouldn't go to other teams who have Japanese stars already but be the star in Boston. He would get lost among the stars and maybe even fizzle out. The fan base is one of the best and match the energy of Hanshin. That fan base would keep him lit up and being a slugger."

Pls. Be aggressive. We need his bat. What does Red Sox Nation think?

Update: Stats.
