Red Sox: Gasper undergoes surgery to repair biceps tendon

The injury kept him out of the Wild Card Series, which Boston lost to the New York Yankees.
The Red Sox said Gasper's distal biceps tendon repair surgery was performed at MassGeneral Brigham in Boston.

The team didn't give a timeline for his recovery, but a study published in 2023 showed that it could take six to nine months for athletes to return to competition. The study said the surgery has a high success rate.

At least they did the surgery now instead of waiting until like February or something and then say he's out all season. Get it over with quickly so he burns offseason months instead of regular season months.

You need to repair the distal bicep tendon within a few weeks for the best chance to get back to 100% pre-injury strength and mobility. Any longer there is almost zero chance

Yeah I was gonna say this. Atrophy and tendon retraction happen within a few weeks. I feel like I remember reading that’s why Tatum got his Achilles done within 24hrs, which is even before inflammation really sets in

Probably. It was three weeks for me. At the edge of worry for the surgeon, but insurance has to do their thing.

This is kinda silly. Guy had 1500 OPS & they sent him down until injuries brought him back up shortly after. The org values Mickey a LOT less than we do

Does it matter that torn biceps occur when someone is doing steroids? We good with Mick being a juicer?
