i’m sorry for not explaining but this is Apple Intelligence’s new Extend feature. It lets you expand a photo beyond its original frame, and AI generates whatever would theoretically be outside the original shot.

This added context is important -- and terrible in this example.

Edit: I know Niger is the name of a country. AI added to the name of a vessel, a name that's almost complete in the original image, the name of a country that is totally irrelevant to the rest of the scene. Was there ever a vessel named "TITANIGER"? Surely there was something closer all over the internet that it could have found to finish the image if it was "Super Intelligence". How is this not a terrible product?

How is a product terrible just because it's not perfect?

They say, "Don't let 'perfect' be the enemy of 'good enough'." Is this result, in your mind, good enough?

This analogous to a bad product that we didn't ask for that isn't ready for public consumption. It's being put out there, jamming its way into everything.

It would be better if so many people weren't so willing to believe everything they see and read. That may be the fault of the willing believers, but it's becoming a problem for the rest of us.

Plenty of people ask for this what are you talking about crazy?

Products will never improve if they're not used. Like my God you people have some issues 😂

It's not jamming its way into anything. This dude specifically went out of his way to make this happen. He went to the product the product did not come to him.

It's not that big of a deal it's just a small typo on a new technology that's fucking free. What technology in your life is 100% perfect?

Many more people didn't ask for it to be added to their phones, their cars, their fridges, etc, yet there it is, often being set to be used by default instead of asking of people would like to use it. Like that U2 album being added to iTunes a few years ago.

I agree that it needs to be developed and people can help. But I didn't sign up to be a beta tester and yet it's in my life. I'd rather it be much better before it makes its way into my life.

The U2 album fiasco was like 2014, which feels like both a few years ago and a lifetime ago.

You don't have to use it. Person who made this post purposely went out of their way to use it that was their choice.

This is how every technology works.

Yeah and that you two albums being added to people's computers years ago is exactly why we have Internet cookie warnings on fucking website you go to

You should have seen the first iphone. It couldn't even send picture messages 😂

No big deal. Some text was a little wrong the technology will improve. No biggie

Can you explain to me how somebody was forced to use this AI tool on a picture?

How much did you invest in AI?
