Just let people merge, even if they're being dicks. Too many hot-heads with dashcams who don't want to practice defensive driving and would rather speed up or have a collision in order to prove that they're right.
I would agree except it doesn't look like they sped up to block them out. She could've merged right behind them. Also, If you listened to what she said, it appears they don't even understand the rules of how to merge.
you win đ some people forget they can brake and go right behind you. if i see a car isnât going to let me in iâll just brake and go right behind them and move on with my day. it is NEVVVERRR that personal đ
I don't understand how you're calling the person with the camera an idiot for legitimately driving in his correct lane, going the correct speed, following the rules of the road.
Because OP has two eyeballs and it was incredibly obvious the car was about to make a dangerous move. Just because other people are stupid around you doesn't mean you don't have a responsibility to be aware of that and respond appropriately.
Wait, you're telling me that I can use the left pedal to slow my car down a tiny bit and go *behind* another vehicle? When was that feature added to vehicles? /s
I agree your original comment was stupid and irrelevant. And every subsequent comment was just as stupid. I suppose I could ask a personal question about why you do that. But I don't particularly care
I mean the OP obviously didn't, right? He decided to get mad and fight that car while riding on a motorcycle.
But I absolutely would just slow down and let them in. Because I don't want a bad driver to crash into me. I don't care about "winning" I want to get where I am going in one piece.
Legally you can try to jump your motorcycle over the grand canyon. But I'm not gonna. Just because something is legal don't make it a smart thing to do.
When they donât want to crash because someone decides their ego says they go first no matter what the rules say. You can be right all you want that wouldnât matter, youâd still be in a wreck.
It donât matter what the law says if you being in the right could potentially put you in a hospital or morgue.
The amount of you weirdos willing to risk injury and life because youâd rather prove a point than hit the brake and continue on with your day is ridiculous
If being right also means being dead, then yeah. Unless you want to sacrifice your life to send a single terrible driver to jail and change nothing else.
I've become increasingly convinced this is the source of a lot of frustration in the world. Too many people thinking they're standing up for their principles and their code for petty unimportant shit. Not every interaction is a threat to moral order, just fucking take the L and move on.
Riding a motorcycle requires not having an ego if you want to do it safely because way too often you're left with the choice of being right vs being safe. This is one of those occasions. Like absolutely the motorcycle had the right to that lane, but at what point is it even worth it?
Yes, the concept of right of way exists , but it is often treated in these subs as something a person possesses, as though a driver, cyclist, or pedestrian can say, âI have the right of way,â and therefore proceed regardless of what others are doing.
Right of way is part of a cooperative system of yielding. Traffic rules establish who yields to whom when paths conflict. One personâs priority arises because another person has a duty to yield, not because the first person owns an absolute right to proceed.
That distinction matters because everyone still has a responsibility to avoid a collision when reasonably possible, even when someone else was legally required to yield. In that sense, right of way is less like possessing a right and more like an agreed set of rules for deciding who waits and who goes so that everyone can move safely and predictably.
When someone goes out of turn, as the car driver did here, it is not a personal affront to the motorcyclist, nor did she steal some possessed right from him. She absolutely should have yielded. When she didnât, he should have dropped behind and gone on with his day without making a dangerous situation worse by fighting over it.
She was running him off the road when merging. Itâs. Pretty cut and dry who is in the wrong here. The police apparently agree because they ticketed her for breaking the law.
There is plenty of time for him to slow down and let her in ahead of him. And thatâs not even including the surreptitious cut at about 4 seconds into the video.
