My first dahlia…a mislabel, but still a nice surprise!

I planted tubers late and made the mistake of going with one of the “Dutch grown” companies, but I’m just thrilled to have my first flower! Time will tell if this is “My Love” mislabel or an unnamed variety. We’ve got one more coming, which I hope is Clair Obscure.

Bummed about floret

Hopefully some of you will get me. I love the pristine award winning dahlias grown from tubers, but darn it I loved growing florets seeds sooo much! They were so much prettier than other dahlia seedlings I grew this year. And I love the walking into the garden and seeing something new and interesting. Like a chocolate box! If anyone has seeds recommendations please let me know.

I was told mystique. In most photos I’d say that dahlia seems more pink but a few photos are more purple

Thoughts?

Seeking Advice Overwintering advice for Novice Dahlia Gardener in Zone 5B?

Hello! I have my first ever dahlia, cafe au lait, planted in my garden from early spring and have yet to see any blooms but have lots of nice lush greenery on it. I live in zone 5b and am wondering if leaving the tuber in ground as is would be okay for over winter? I have it planted pretty close to the house away from any direct winds blasting. I keep seeing our winter forecast for this year leaning more toward a warmer climate, so I'm wondering if I can get away with in ground. Or, would it be okay to pot up my plant and treat it like a houseplant over winter? I would love to hear what everyone here thinks! Thank you.

Dahlia Health-Related Inquiry What is wrong with them?

Thumbnail

The first two pictures are from a plant that is producing blooms but the leaves clearly look sick and the blooms sag like they’re hanging their heads. The third and fourth pictures are from a plant that has a lot of buds but they won’t open, and their leaves look sick but totally different. They’re brittle and curled. Please help! I have a few plants right around them that seem perfectly healthy and are blooming and I don’t see any insects on these. Thanks!

Im not sure if im going totally crazy but i have this very light pink flower head growing out of my Thomas Edisons (which have otherwise all been the same shade of purple ish hot pink). Is it some sort of variation because of the cooler weather? maybe i planted something here im not remembering. I truly don’t know at this point

What does this say?

I thought I was so careful labeling my grow bags, labeled the clumps as I took them out of the ground, but somehow messed up! I thought this was a mystery dahlia given to me with no label, but there's something written there. What is it?!

Split Colour Bloom

Came across this dahlia while doing a bit of gardening today. I’ve never seen this before. Admittedly only been dahlia growing a couple years.

AI suggests it could be a spontaneous mutation/sport, but I’m wondering if anyone here can confirm whether that’s actually what I’m looking at?

It’s the only flower on the plant that looks like this, the rest are all pink.

Thanks
