I really hope they can overcome the unrelenting force that is Guardsball

We aren’t allowed to win things

u/PlayaSlayaX Kansas City Royals 4d ago

They will.

The Guardians are just the designated AL Central winner every year because everyone else has a bad tendency of shitting the bed during the season. Cleveland, on the other hand, saves the embarrassment for the postseason.

And football season.

Hey most of us are buckeyes fans too. We cling to them for all hope in athletic success

We can say this, you can’t say this. But, yes, we burn our bullpen during the regular season and no one takes our hitters seriously until the playoffs and then they exploit the shot out of how bad our hitters are

how bad your manager is**

2 time coach of the year, 3 time div champ in his first 3 seasons, running a bottom 5 payroll out there. Such a bad manager.

Thank God for the AL West

Only a slight skid-mark for us this year, after years of sheer bowel voiding.

We are due for a WS run where we inevitably lose to the NL, it's about every 10 years and our last was 2016

Unless I’m tweaking the guards most recent World Series appearances have been 95, 97, and 16. So get ready to wait around 10 years for two World Series loses in three years with one of them being a game 7 heartbreaker buddy.

u/jeckles96 Cleveland Guardians 3d ago

Yeah I was going to say it’s actually every 20 years so we should be okay for a bit.

So you are like some ancient Cthulhu that make the World Series every year that end in 6 when the stars aligned?

u/morgy_choder 4d ago

-7

u/Jupiters_phaerie Atlanta Braves 4d ago

Oh, what am I defending?

4

u/morgy_choder 4d ago

sorry I’m halfway through a king can lmfao, you’re not defending anything I meant to say vouching for an old shitty name

-18

u/Jupiters_phaerie Atlanta Braves 4d ago

That’s what they were for 35 years of my life, same with the skins. Old habits die hard.

u/dippitydoo2 Minnesota Twins 3d ago

Grow up then

u/Jupiters_phaerie Atlanta Braves 3d ago

Meh, I will not conform to what you want me to be. I am what I am and I don’t like being told what I should or shouldn’t be able to say or think. Thinking is still allowed yes?

3

u/morgy_choder 4d ago

ah gotchu chief, what are the skins though??

3

u/TrickyKate 4d ago

He's talking about the Redskins which are now the Commanders in the nfl

6

u/morgy_choder 4d ago

Oh my god dude redskins is so fuckin bad 😭😭 what is the deal with American teams and weird indigenous themed names?? It’s not like they’re done out of respect, so what’s the motivation?

5

u/LiftingCode 4d ago

I wouldn't necessarily say "not done out of respect."

Or maybe rather just a misguided attempt.

The names are supposed to be evocative of fierce and noble warriors or whatnot. This is an "imperialist nostalgia" thing, where people romanticize a culture they destroyed.

Which of course is all highly offensive and shitty when those people are still around, being oppressed.

And of course in some cases, like the Redskins, it's just overtly shitty and racist from the jump.

So much going on in the world and low IQ simpletons will latch onto things like this and not let go.

-3

u/Jupiters_phaerie Atlanta Braves 4d ago

So much going on in the world and this is one of those that doesn’t matter. Literally this doesn’t matter at all.

I still call them the Redskins, Indians, and Bullets.

I don't really give a fuck what society or Reddit thinks about it either.

I'm not going to placate the sensitivities of the same people that celebrated Charlie Kirk being murdered.

3

u/dippitydoo2 Minnesota Twins 3d ago

I’m not mad

Please don’t tell the newspapers I was mad

-3

u/wej8 Philadelphia Phillies • Philadelphia Phillies 3d ago

Why would I be mad? You can call them whatever you want and I don't care. Lol

3

u/dippitydoo2 Minnesota Twins 3d ago edited 3d ago

Sure you don’t

Edit: did this bitch block me? Lmao

-2

u/wej8 Philadelphia Phillies • Philadelphia Phillies 3d ago

You seem to be mad that I call them the Redskins, Indians, and Bullets lol

2

u/voncornhole2 New York Yankees 3d ago

You people can't even talk about sports without getting political, incredibly sad way to move through life

-1

u/wej8 Philadelphia Phillies • Philadelphia Phillies 3d ago

Are you saying that changing the names wasn't political?

And are you also saying that the same people that want the names to be changed because it's offensive aren't the same people that celebrated murder because "fuck people complaining about being offended"?

2

u/Sibolt Cleveland Guardians 3d ago

The name changes were about money. Sports are a business.

1

u/wej8 Philadelphia Phillies • Philadelphia Phillies 3d ago

That's just a roundabout way of saying the name change was about the culture specifically what culture Blackrock corporate decides. I wouldn't disagree with that.

1

u/Jupiters_phaerie Atlanta Braves 3d ago

Holy shit is that why the bullets had to change their name???
