One of my favorite styles for creating images and taking screenshots in Arma is the documentary or exhibition style; while most people tend to prefer dramatic or action-packed shots—or those featuring interesting effects—this style might also be appealing, especially to aviation enthusiasts.

DISCUSS FUTURE Arma 4

Why remove the most beloved features like workshop and editor just to appease console players? Does The leadership hate their fanbase of 15+ years that much? I hope the devs don’t act shocked when it inevitably flops and is DOA

DISCUSS A3 200 hours of Warlords later, I got tired of fighting over the same sectors

Warlords hooked me hard. PvP, tanks, helis, jets, infantry - combined arms chaos, exactly what Arma is good at.

Then after ~200 hours it started getting painfully predictable.

Same routes. Same chokepoints. Same few sectors getting fought over every match. Meanwhile there are tons of sectors on Altis I had basically never seen used.

I googled around and apparently I’m far from the only one who got bored of that.

So I looked at Redux thinking: “surely somebody already fixed this.”

Jesus Christ.

I opened it, stared at the UI for a minute and wanted to unsee it. Too much stuff, too much visual noise, too many systems piled on top of each other. At some point it stops feeling like Warlords and starts feeling like someone duct-taped another game onto it.

So the obvious answer seemed to be somewhere in the middle: don’t reinvent Warlords. Just fix the parts that make it repetitive.

What I changed:

  • Every enemy sector connected to your territory can be attacked. Not just the voted one.
  • If three sectors are exposed, you have three actual fronts.
  • Every active frontline sector has AI defenders, so alternate routes aren’t just empty flag-capping.
  • Only active fronts are populated, so the server doesn’t melt when half the map becomes relevant.
  • I added a naval route across the bay and removed radar/IR locking from boats and SDVs, because in normal Warlords boats are basically floating target practice.
  • I also added a high-CP sector cluster as a secondary strategic objective. You don’t have to fight there, but controlling it gives your side a real economic advantage, so there’s finally a reason to fight somewhere other than the usual highway to the enemy base.

That’s basically it. No giant overhaul, no seizure-inducing UI, no 40 new systems to learn.

Just more fronts, more useful parts of Altis, more reasons to split forces and finally see all other sectors.

The screenshots show the sector network and what several active attack routes look like at once.

Am I missing some obvious reason why Warlords shouldn’t be more like this?

DISCUSS FUTURE This next year will be my 20th Year of ARMA. Heres to 50 more.

Its hard to imagine how much this game has become part of my life since buying ARMA1 sold as Armed Assault for my first paycheck from my first real job at 17. Bought this and STALKER which hold an equal place in my heart.

Imagine my joy to see Stalker and Arma Content together in an Arma Game vanilla in Reforger.

Heres to all the friends iv made. Especially my late Brother Jeff xXOderusUrungusXx. We will keep playing ARMA until we can no longer operate a computer.

ARMA has made me feel like an old rich soul thats lived a million lives already yet still finds joy in this World and the People in it.

Thank You Bohemia.

Centuries of carnage
Centuries of chaos yet unfolding
A planet built on bone
Spinning in a space
Unmolded
Armies are arrayed
Like toys on tabletops it's almost funny
Bodies raped and flayed
The sea is red with blood the sky is sunny
Immortal!

DISCUSS FUTURE Is it just me who won’t be leaving Arma 3 (and previous Arma entries) for Arma 4?

A lot of the rumored gutting of previous groundbreaking content such as Eden Editor and seamless Workshop support has put my opinions of Arma 4 down a lot.

To me, Arma 4 seems like it’s going to pander to the newcomers of the franchise over more seasoned fans, which is understandable admittedly, but turns me away personally.

What do you all think?
