So what some of y'all don't seem to understand, is that you want women to walk through the world with an "all men" mentality. "She should have known not to put herself into that position." "She shouldn't have been drinking." "She shouldn't have been wearing that." Etc. The implication is, she should have known that MEN can't control themselves. That any situation involving men, alcohol, drugs, walking at night, etc is her not being smart enough around men. So either women are supposed to think it's all men so she doesn't get assaulted, or she can be naive and say it's not every man and get assaulted. Saying it's "not all men" is invalid because women have to treat the world like it is all men otherwise those same men will say it's her fault for being assaulted.
Reminds me of that interview with Saoirse Ronan and a few guys and the guys are talking about someone saying you can use your phone as a weapon when attacked.
They're laughing and talking over her like "Who thinks about that!?" "Yeah just patting for your phone as you're attacked"
Suddenly she just goes, "That's what girls have to think about all the time" and they all freeze and go dead silent. It's ridiculous to me that as much as women talk and talk about having to live cautiously and in fear that it STILL slips men's minds so easily.
I'm confused what you're confused about, that is what she's referring to. The people around her are men.
They're making fun of the tip saying "who thinks about that?" and imagining themselves being suddenly attacked and acting like the tip is silly because they'd be patting in their pockets while being attacked, because they're viewing it from a male perspective where they feel generally safe.. They're revealing that they're not generally thinking "what if I get attacked right now?"
Women are constantly thinking that. A woman wouldn't be patting around her pockets, most women I know walk to their car with their keys gripped tight in one hand and their phone in the other in case something happens.
Women are repeatedly traumatized starting from a young age in society. Most women begin to experience catcalling, harassment, and being followed in public around age 10-12 and it just does not stop.
It's not one person doing something to them, it's strange men repeatedly doing it again and again and again. When I worked in a grocery store, it was nearly every night that security had to walk a woman to her car because of customer harrassment.
It did happen to men sometimes, but those were incidents, not a normal every day thing.
Do you think there might be a difference between saying "all men don't" and "some men do"? Do you think that meant in any way "no man experiences sexual violence or intimidation"?
She's talking about a universal experience of women. But you surely know that, right? Like you're not actually slow enough to not understand what she's saying?
my god you really are doubling down aren’t you? anyway you clown, despite what you think people don’t like being sexually assaulted, stalked or murdered and may want to take steps to prevent that
You're being deliberately obtuse even when people explain to you, so why would I explain further?
Consider this me tripling down, I guess. Yes, you're acting dumb intentionally when you already know the answer in bad faith. I'm going to question whether you're being deliberate in that stupidity or if it's your natural state.
You think a woman should possibly cause herself to go to prison for murder or manslaughter because our system won't protect us. We're on our own, it's been made abundantly clear.
