"Traditional afternoon tea in London is served between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM, with 4:00 PM being the classic time."
My boy said tea after 4pm is not simply tea....I think he is on to something. lol

I did this.
After the club i followed her to her apartment, she made me some tea I drank it and left because I was drunk and tired.
To this day I still think about that...

I read this is Bobby Hills voice :) Specifically his voice from the episode where they go to Louisiana to meet Bills extended family, and Bobby starts talking like Bill's aristocratic family hahaha

Yep my high functioning 16 year old is the same, he takes everything so literally and really struggles to navigate the social high seas. He is so nice and kind and I worry about people taking advantage of him.

When I was about 16 a coworker at my job told me her parents were out of town and asked if I wanted to come over to watch a movie. I asked what movie we are going to watch, and it was something I had zero interest in. So I just said Nah I’m good, that movie looks dumb. That was 20 years ago, and I still think about how completely oblivious I was.

They don't understand that she was actually going to make him a cup of tea and that's it
111
u/thrilliam_19 16h ago
Even if that’s all that happens their point about her wanting to spend time with him one on one is still valid. It isn’t like they’re going to sit there and sip tea in complete silence. She wants to get to know him better in a safe space for her.
52
u/Jonathon_world 16h ago
No that wasn't her plan that night. Her house is full to the brim with kettles and cups she's a hoader

Make a cup a tea. Sit next to you on the couch. Cuddles close to you while you both sip the hot tea. She lays her head on your chest says you feel warm and enjoys the sound of your heart beat. She then looks up at you. Your eyes meet as your faces are just inches apart. You decide to go for it and kiss her. She pulls away and says "bro what are you doing I have a boyfriend?"

25
u/keyboardsoldier 15h ago
Sure, the problem here though is that he is absolutely fixated on the tea. To him if you invite him for tea it means you guys absolutely have to have tea, not coffee, not anything else. Doesn't matter if she invited him to spend some alone time together, he doesn't want tea and that's that.

u/captcraigaroo 16h ago
I had a neighbor, the annoying girl in the apartment building, kinda cute but red flag religious virgin girl, earned the nickname Virgin Motocross in our friend group because she claimed she was into motocross too. My friend had made out with her and she tried giving him a handjob and it wasn't good according to him. Well, she came over to my place and said she was tired, so she laid down in my bed and I did not join. After 15min she stormed out to the living room and said "you know when I said I was tired, I meant for you to join me". I looked her right in the eye and said "I didn't want to". Never had to hang out with her again

I was in Portugal and met a girl on Couchsurfing for a hangout. We spent the whole day together exploring Lisbon. We had fun. We went out to dinner together. Afterwards we shared a cab because our places were only a few blocks apart. Hers was first and she asked if I wanted to come in for tea. It was perhaps midnight. I said sure that sounds great. We head up and she puts the tea on. I look at her for some kind of sign and I’m not really getting any. She makes the tea and I take a sip and then say “I like your place, where do you sleep?” She’s like, you wanna go to the bedroom? I’m like well yeah if you want to. She replied that she’s not that kind of girl and why would I think that. I say well it’s late and we spent the whole day together and you invited me in for tea? She’s like I just thought you might like some tea. So yeah either sometimes girls actually mean tea when they say tea or I somehow fumbled in the minute or two when she put the tea on.

I'm tempted to go with door number 2.
Then again, there isn't any physical romance whatsoever in this story you didn't make a move before saying yes to going to the bedroom.
You didn't kiss her, you didn't hold her, etc.
Then you were willing to go straight to fourth base.
If I were a girl and took all of that into consideration, I wouldn't want to hear a yes from a guy either.

u/Arvandor 14h ago
It's either a bit, or the guy might be on the spectrum. I've known people like this, though most of them aren't getting invited to a girl's place for tea, so there's that.
4
u/Sneezy6510 9h ago
The yelling of “how do you know that?” Tells me this guy is just a door nob socially. Didn’t want to tea, so he said no. Thats clear as day in his head but most normal guys that like the girl but don’t like tea, would just go suffer through some tea.
3
u/MarcoMaroon 10h ago
Nah man even if it’s a bit, the story is very relatable. Lots of people have had those kinds of interactions or “missed” signals.
A couple years ago I got to catch up with an old high school crush and I basically asked her about if we could have been a thing since we talked so often and hung out so often and she confirmed she waited for me to ask her out lol.
The cool thing is I dodged a bullet anyways cause she’s crazy.

One time this girl asked me over to her place for a movie night in, so I brought my monitor, laptop, speakers and she looked at me like I had two heads. So we sat down to have dinner and we had lots of sx and never got to watch a single movie.
For this dude, the tea is a pretense for you to give a signal that you’re interested in doing anything with her.

I was at a party and a girl I had been speaking to most of the night asked me if I wanted to go upstairs and lay down. For some reason I thought she meant I looked tired and needed a nap so I got defensive and said no thanks, I’m okay. I then spent the rest of the night paranoid at how tired I must look.
Not sure how many days/weeks it took me to realize I probably misinterpreted the situation but it was substantial.

I went to a girls house to get ready after work before we both went out to meet up with other friends for a night out. She said I could use the shower which I accepted. She then offered to show me how the shower worked as I was undressing in the bathroom. I declined and said it looked straight forward.
When I came out, she was completely naked, with the door to her walk-in-wardrobe wide open so I could see her. I apologised and ran into the spare room to get dressed.
I still think about that day and how stupid I was to miss those signs.

Because of this quote here...."We have blueberry, raspberry, ginseng, sleepy time, green tea, green tea with lemon, green tea with lemon and honey, liver disaster, ginger with honey, ginger without honey, vanilla almond, white truffel, blueberry chamomile, vanilla walnut, constant comment and... earl grey."...I will never say no to tea.

u/thrilliam_19 16h ago
Right? Girls that drink tea have a fucking library in their cupboard. There will be something in there that you will like, or at least tolerate.
Fuck it she wants to spend time with you alone. Show up, try some, tell her you’ve never liked tea but wanted to see her and have a glass of water dude. Gah what an idiot.

I feel like I did the opposite of that. When I was in my very early 20s I invited a barkeeper over after his shift for coffee because he defended me against some other guy at the bar. I brought him home, made coffee and he drank it. It was kinda awkward (I wonder why 😆) and then he asked if it's really about the coffee. I was confused so he explained he kinda thought we would hook up because coffee usually means hookup. I was so embarrassed, told him I really thought that coffee means just coffee. We laughed it off and he went home. Great guy.

I was in charge of putting together my friends going away party. She was filthy rich, gave me her card and said "go crazy." And I did! Two DJ's who did a DJ battle that turned into like dueling pianos at one point. Guys were super talented.
Star Wars helmets for 80+ people that were all bedazzled, decorations, catering..
So anyways, her best friend at one point asked me to look for something in my friends room. She's on all fours, back arched.. says "ugh, I can't find her condoms.. oh well, I'm on birth control."
My response? "Oh, I need to check on the floating shark that go stuck in the ceiling."
Me. She wanted to fuck me.. ten years later - we are both married to different people - and she still makes fun of me for thinking I was there to help her find condoms for another guy. Welp.

Lmao, girl invited Me up to her room away from everyone else at the house party, we're sat close getting to know each other, then she mentions dinosaurs and three hours later , we're still talking about dinosaurs.
I wish that was how it ended the second time it was a movie night , she invited me and just me, the movie was really, really good And that's the only part I paid attention to.
