Is "man flu" real, or am I just weak? My girlfriend (35F) functions even in fever while I'm (40M) fighting for my life...
Genuine question because I’m starting to think I’m just weak, and it's getting embarrassing lol.
Whenever I get sick, I’m basically out of commission. If my temperature hits even a bit high, I’m already in bed feeling like I’ve been hit by a freight truck. Zero energy, full body aches, and I literally cannot do anything except lay there and accept my fate.
Meanwhile, my girlfriend will get sick, hit a fever and somehow just… carry on with life? She’ll be cleaning the apartment, going to her school (she is a teacher) and doing her usual routine like absolutely nothing happened. I’m over here acting like a Victorian child dying of consumption, and she’s side-eyeing me while doing the dishes.
Is there actually some biological explanation for this? Do women have some kind of different / better immune response? Is "man flu" an actual scientific phenomenon, or do I just have zero pain tolerance?
Would genuinely love to hear if other guys experience this (please tell me I'm not alone) or if anyone knows the actual science behind it!
TL;DR: I get a mild fever and cannot leave my bed; my GF gets a higher fever and deep-cleans the kitchen. Why?
