A smaller band I like just announced a large nationwide tour with something like 30 stops. There has to be costs involved with getting it started like travel and food and lodging, moving equipment around, heck just money to live. I know they will make money from ticket sales but it’s not like they are playing arenas mostly smaller clubs and venues.

Looking at arrows, they have fletching to help them gain rotational stability making them fly more accurate. I know that gun barrels have rifling that give them spin already, but would indented fletching have an adverse effect on the bullet?

Pretty sure there's a reason why but I never heard anyone talk about it.

In a broader way preferably, like I understand why halogenated substances like PFAS and CFCs are harmful, but WHAT specifically makes creating an effective flame retardant that is non toxic and widely applicable so hard?

How do they penetrate through your skin and not get in your bloodstream and relieve aches and pains?

My messages with someone switched to rcs chat all of a sudden and I saw something about it being insecure. Can this person hack me ? Is this a safe networking? How do I switch back to sms? What is it?

Hello, I've been researching on the composition and build of the Sun, but I keep getting stuck on the idea of plasma.

I understand that the Sun’s core and radiative zone are made of plasma - or, very dense, ionized matter - that has a density about 150 times that of water, and I keep imagining it as a really, really thick ocean. I know there’s no actual floor or solid surface inside the Sun, but I’m having trouble visualizing how something can be both plasma and extremely dense.

So - if I could somehow enter and survive the Sun - would it conceptually not feel more like moving through an incredibly dense fluid/ocean rather than falling through empty space? (as the answers on the internet are theorised)?

Do I need a better analogy than thick ocean, or is there a better way to picture what the Sun’s interior is like?

Thanks!

I'm not sure if this was the right place to ask this, as the answer will likely not be something a 5 year old understands, but I'm mainly curious as to how the internals of microprocessors work. Is it just a case of electrons being punted around like pinballs between transistors? Is everything fixed and if so, is there a such thing as actual intelligence when it comes to them? Is assuming they can ever become sentient a huge leap?

i am not a physict, i study pharmacy, but we need this in electrochemistry (electrods and that stuff). Since middle school we talk about this two but no one reall explain what they really are and treat them as names we should remember to pass the exam, but i really cant understand anything if i dont know what is actually about.

Also another term is potential (E)... and it is in volts...

Since we have an approximate age, and if we can guess the approximate rates of inflation in the early universe, and know approximate the current expansion rate, and know the size of the observable universe can't we cross reference this with the cosmic background radiation noise etc. to arrive at an approximate figure as to how big the universe is?

This seems like a trivial problem. If connectors are melting, change the gauge / current carrying capacity of the traces, connector and cable such that there are good engineering guard bands for the max current the device can draw. GPUs are like a million dollars now, the connector is the lowest price part of the component stack, but it seems like connectors have not changed at all, still the same old molex 8 or 16 pin crimps, and they seem to be melting all over the place. Wouldn't something like the XT30 connectors (with more pins) used to charge lithium battery packs be vastly better? Are the failures just amplification bias or are GPU card manufacturers asleep at the wheel?

I’ve seen videos of people controlling computers using their brains I guess? I understand it has something to do with nerve signals and whatnot, but what do they actually think about to, say, click on a link? What does it feel like? How does the system know when to interact with something?

I got a new backpack and whenever I’m carrying my laptop it feels lighter than when I carried it in my old backpack. Why? How?

Like, I get the concept that kind of just like everything, excess energy has to go somewhere. But why is it something that can be so... volatile? Do we know why it's that and not... something else? Is it only for certain atoms?

Is radiation just an excess of energy then? If so, why is excess energy in large quantities able to kill us all the way down to our cells? Whats that about?

Thanks! :D first time poster.

Does the circadian rhythm automatically know when you’re in a different place with a different time zone?

It does if I spell it any other way.

How do bank holds work? I'm trying to place an online grocery order and it says they will put a 125% hold on the total price, but then when it comes down to it the actual price gets declined. Is it because they've got the "hold" on an amount of money and then they try to take more money?

What is it about ? What is the purpose of studying it ? What are its real life applications ?
