REQUESTING Shows for tweens with relatively nice kids
Requesting teenie bopper shows for my 8 year old with kids who are not super rude in it! Love older shows. We’re watching Lizzie McGuire now.

Hello! My friend and I have been watching television together in different time zones for almost six years now. So far we've seen:
As you can tell, we have a bit of a weakness for the 2000s. We also enjoy more lighthearted sci/fantasy with a sprinkling of camp, but we don't mind having our hearts broken. Anything with characters that we can fall in love with and defend to last breaths.
What should we watch next?

I want shows like death in the nile type of thing, a murder happens e we already have the list of possible suspects and the investigation starts xD

Interested in philosophical shows that tend to lean positive (thus, why Bojack Horseman or Twin Peaks isn’t on the list above, although I do enjoy them very occasionally.)
Preference is for TV shows that are either fully in the English language or have very well done dubs. I mostly like to watch TV while doing other things (folding laundry, painting, cooking, etc. so not interested in subtitles.)

I've watched a bunch of tv shows throughout the years, and when I finished watching "Dark" I was like, there's no chance I'll ever get to watch something close to it, but thankfully I just did (Dark is still better tho).
There are so much layers to this show, it's insane. We could even draw parallels to whatever's happening in the show to our current world with Billionaires trying to make the world "better", the power struggle at the top, also showing how having control and an authoritative power can change people. It's pretty nice that it doesn't have a conventional "villian"/antagonist.
The story telling is top notch and the actors are brilliant, Rebbeca Ferguson is amazing and so is every other person in the cast.
Waiting for the next season, hope they nail the ending, so if anyone's looking for a show or something to pick up, watch "Silo".

What are your favorite bottle episodes of series? Can be animated or live action, can be anywhere around the world, any genre. Just need English subtitles available.
Bottle episodes generally take place in one setting/room/area.

So bored with tv lately, can’t find anything good. Some shows Ive watched and loved: Outlander, Blood of my Blood, Yellowstone, Handmaids Tale, just to name a few.
Thanks!

Hello! My bf and I are on the hunt for a new show, preferably something with a lot of seasons as we get decision paralysis when one ends and we’ll go weeks without a show. Our favorites have been Chuck, Tacoma FD, Grimm, Extraordinary, Psych, Supernatural (duh), and we just finished Chad Powers which was fine. We have Amazon Prime, HBO, Hulu, and Disney+. Before we met I also loved and rewatched Teen Wolf, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and all the little teeny bopper drama shows that are lowkey great. TIA!

Now I have seen so many tv shows like this I couldn’t name them all so some suggestions might be something I’ve seen but maybe not. I guess to name a few really good ones I’ve loved is the undoing, true detective and the killing. Anybody have suggestions?

I'd like to see a plausible, well-developed progression of events, learn what skills might be essential for survival, and explore the strategies, decisions, and practical solutions that could make a real difference when it comes to staying alive.
I'm also open to sci-fi or other fantastical scenarios, as long as they explore specific skills that could come in handy during a realistic disaster, too.

This is such a great show to watch in the evening, particularly if you fall asleep to the TV. Gabriel Byrne has the most soothing accent and there are no car crashes or loud scenes to startle you!

Hi, I'm looking for a fun, easy-to-watch show that’s only 1–2 seasons. I’ve seen sooo many shows already, so I’m looking for something more underrated that I probably haven’t heard of.
I don’t want anything heavy or serious just something fun and entertaining to binge.
Also no sitcoms please😭
Thanks in advance!

I really need a series like *Ginny & Georgia*, *My Life with the Walter Boys*, or *Heartbreak High*, but with a cozy Halloween and autumn vibe. Any recommendations?

I just finished watching You’re the Worst. I loved how it was a darker comedy with morally gray characters you still want to root for and how it had some really well written emotional moments. When I’ve looked for shows like it fleabag tends to come up which I’ve already seen. Any suggestions?

Favs are breaking bad and Sopranos and first two seasons dexter, watched breaking bad again and was glad I saw it before sopranos as there's so much goofy comic relief, still great but sopranos well theres funny scenes I truly believed all of what the characters would do and say , felt natural/realistic.
Sopranos is also great from first to last ep, so is breaking bad though
I've tried mad men and just didn't find any of the acting that great or the plot that interesting
Tried Ozark pretty big plot holes already in season one
EDIT: I mean in terms of acting/writing/directing not plot, and good from first ep to last. And as I said I've tried Mad Men and Ozark, wire a couple eps but not enough to say

I’m looking for movies or TV shows where the female protagonist is struggling with life itself rather than mainly recovering from heartbreak.
It could be career failure, family problems, financial difficulties, losing her sense of direction, giving up on a dream, or just going through a major change in life.
I’d love something where she starts out feeling lost or worn down, but slowly rebuilds her life and finds some sense of meaning or happiness again.
What I’m especially looking for is a gradual healing process, rather than a story where she meets a man and romance suddenly fixes everything.
Romance is totally fine, I just don’t want it to be the main reason she gets better.
Basically, I’m looking for something that leaves you feeling:
“Life can be really hard, but you can still slowly find your way back.”
Movies or TV shows are both welcome.
If you could recommend just one, what would it be?

Charming, deceptive, beguiling, female main chracter or characters who is always scheming and plotting.
similar examples: Margaery Tyrell from GoT, Emily Thorne from Revenge

I’ve watched virtually all the series that are highly recommended, unless there’s something new that I haven’t heard about. The thing is, I can’t stand weak plots, dialog, acting, or things that require a lot of suspension of disbelief. For example I tried to watch Line of Fire, and although it’s an average quality production in my genre, I just can’t deal with the inane premise. I’ve watched most of Slow Horses, and while it’s good quality, I can’t get past Gary Oldman looking like a homeless bum and farting in front of people. It makes me want to quit. Of course I loved True Detective. The Killing, The Wire, and many others that don’t have some crazy, unbelievable gimmick. I made it through Homeland, was stretched thin on the bipolar chick misbehaving, but with such amazing instincts for solving puzzles. I’m not saying they have to be perfect realism, not every series is going to be that, but I start and abandon a lot. Also don’t like the crime documentaries where they spend 2/3 of the time interviewing friends to create sympathy for the victim. Didn’t mean for it to get this long. Hope you get my gist.
I would appreciate any suggestions that might be hiding beneath the surface, or new releases that I may not have heard about.
Edit: I really appreciate all of these recommendations. I've seen some of them already and there are a lot that I haven't, or haven't even heard of. I copied this thread to my notes app and will go through and flag the ones I haven't seen. I appreciate how well everyone stuck to the genre and preferences. And I'll be checking back if anyone has additional recs. Thanks!

i have amazon prime video and i've been wanting to get back into fantasy series, but i keep spending more time looking for something than actually watching lol. there are so many shows spread across different streaming services now. is there a good site or app that has curated lists of the best fantasy series and also shows where you can watch them? i'd love something that lets you filter by things like magic, medieval settings, dragons, or darker fantasy. what do you guys use when you're in the mood for a specific type of fantasy? and which series would you say is an absolute must watch right now?
