You mean the guy who shot himself in the side of the head? About 3.5% of gun suicides involve multiple shots to the head. The first doesn't always kill and at that point most people aren't going to want to suffer and slowly bleed to death.

There are records of people attempting suicide to shoot themselves twice in the head. Some of them survive to confirm that. To the back of the head would be unusual for a suicide.

An episode of "Cops" had shown such an instance. The guy was in fact conscious and talking to responders. No info re anything else.
