I've never been particularly "drawn" to pens as a hobby.
Although, I recently made a career change which involves a reasonable amount of note taking, form filling, and writing in general. So, I figured why not make the whole experience potentially more enjoyable by acquiring something that I'd enjoy writing with.
I had zero idea where to start. I knew I wanted something that felt substantial and intentional, but that's about it. I blind purchased a pen made by Craighill out of sheer curiosity. Upon unboxing and testing it out, I immediately knew this pen was not for me. Although, one thing happened which caught me very off guard... my personal distaste for that Craighill made me realize what I was looking for in a pen. In one handwritten sentence, I had gone from not having an inkling, to fully understanding what my personal priorities were.
I decided to dive down the rabbit hole of fountain pens. I wanted the process. I wanted the decision of what ink to buy. I wanted it all, babyyy.
I wanted to just dip my toes into this hobby, but I also wanted to experience a somewhat good example of what a fountain pen could be. I ordered a TWSBI Precision in Gunmetal. I've been using it constantly for a few days now.
I am blown away. This is really enjoyable. I find myself handwriting things instead of typing them. I'm so glad the image I had orchestrated in my head of what writing could be, turned out to actually be attainable.
Sorry for the long read, just felt like sharing this little endeavor of mine. Hope you all experience happiness today.
