This 1997 burning of Reggie Miller’s Geist house is probably not new to most of this sub but I was shocked to learn how close this franchise came to losing its best player to terrible acts of violence. Reggie and his wife obviously weren’t in the home at the time their 14,000 sq ft house was burglarized and set ablaze, but the arsonists didn’t know that and this story could’ve ended very differently. They lost almost all of their personal possessions and the criminals were never caught. Miller received copycat letters for months from people who claimed they were the ones who set his house on fire. This came on the heels of an underwhelming season where they missed the playoffs, and Miller was in contract negotiations at the time. He almost left the Pacers and retired altogether. This clip from the 2004 episode of “Beyond the glory” interviews Reggie about those events.

Just went crazy with the screenshots. Is that Pacers outershirt something we can officially purchase?

Team Blue wins once again

For those who can't come to Gainbridge this morning.

Shamelessly stole this from the Lakers subforum. Also, where we heading?

We are likely going to have 6 tickets to giveaway for Fanjam tomorrow. If you’re interested, let me know. Free of course.

I’ll edit the post when they are gone, but if other folks have tickets they want or want to give away, you’re welcome to post here too.

Edit to add: If you get tickets or if the tickets you offered are gone, please add a comment saying you got what you needed or your tickets are gone!

Edit to add: I still have a couple more.

Es Baraheni is joined by Caitlin Cooper to preview the Indiana Pacers season and answer the following questions:

1. What's the thing most fans are looking forward to with this team? / Biggest Storyline

2. What's the floor and ceiling?

3. Who's the X Factor?

4. Expectations for the best player or best rookie?

5. Crystal ball prediction for the season

Saw Caitlin Cooper = share before watching.

Absolute joke of a league. The Pacers got fined for not playing Aaron Nesmith, who was actually injured.

I want to see him spar with JJ 👀

I only keep up and watch pacer games to be honest with you guys. I haven’t seen much of him in the past few years so idk what kinda player he is. Is he going to fill that 6th man role Benn had? Is he more of a slasher or facilitator, how’s his defense?

isn't it great to have a player love the city / state that actually matches the love it has for him?

Should he wear the headband?

Will this duo dethrone Murray and Jokić as the best pick & roll duo in the league?

We’ve never been! Would fan jam realistically be a fun experience for a couple of 3 year old boys, or should we wait until they are a bit older?

Complimentary tickets will be available starting on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 10:00 AM ET. Ticket limit of six (6) per person.

That's it. Finally done with the W. watch their ratings drop after this.

Pacer basketball is back!!

The Trade:
Pacers get: Sam Hauser ($10.8M)
Celtic’s gets: Jarace Walker ($8.5M), Quenton Jackson ($2.6M), 2027 2nd-Round Pick

(You could do this same trade with Larry Nance Jr. 2.4M)

Why do it?
Solves the contract dilemma: Walker is in a contract year, and with our payroll near the tax/apron, matching an RFA offer sheet next summer might not be feasible.

Playoff shooting + defense: Hauser gives us 41%+ 3-point gravity, but at 6'8", he holds up defensively in switch schemes and won't get targeted off the floor in May.

Preserves depth: Doesn't touch our starting five and keeps Ben Sheppard, Johnny Furphy, and Larry Nance Jr. in reserve.

Projected 2nd Unit:
PG: T.J. McConnell
SG: Sam Hauser
SF: Kelly Oubre Jr.
PF: Obi Toppin
C: Jay Huff

Would you pull the trigger on this, or would you rather keep Walker and let him play out the season?

Sweet dude

7-5

Anyone know if the Fan Jam tickets are still going on sale this morning? I can’t find anything on Ticketmaster or the official Pacers site.

Maybe they’re delaying the release to see whether or not the Fever will need the building and they move the FJ to the Boom arena.
