The 3rd Annual Cavs Consensus Survey ($500 Cash Prize)
Hi all! Happy Media Day!
So the last couple years, I've conducted a "Cavs Consensus Survey" as a way to gauge where the majority of the (online) Cavs fanbase is on the big topics that surround this team/league, and then present it in an easy to digest visual format. The first two years we did this, thanks in large part to this sub, we've had nearly 300 entries per season. The results of those surveys are here for 2025, and here for 2024.
My goal this year is to push that entry number up to 500-ish. I've put together a new survey with 70 questions. They fall into 2 categories.
1.) Subjective (40 Questions) - These assess your feelings on various Cavs subjects. Stuff like how you felt about the Watson deal, or the Harden deal, or our front office's performance, etc, etc. They have no right or wrong answer.
2.) Predictive (30 Questions) - These assess your predictions to specific team and player outcomes. (ex. "Will Evan Mobley Make 1st Team All-Defense?") These questions will eventually have a right answer and a wrong answer, revealed by season's end.
As an incentive to get the largest sampling of fan responses possible prior to Opening Night (and therefore the most accurate polling I can obtain), I will be tracking the outcome of all the predictive questions. And at season's end, the most accurate survey will get $500 (hence why it asks for your email - use your paypal or venmo linked email). Last year, the winner was a guy named Kyle, who was sent the survey link from one of his Cavs fan buddies.
So anyway, the survey is here. If you can spare 10 minutes, and want to share your feelings and predictions on the Cavs, I would be very grateful. Thanks all! Looking forward to a great season. And I welcome any feedback on how to improve it for subsequent years.
- Bob

Cavs Clips from Summer, Camp, & Scrimmage
For those Cavs fans that may not be on other platforms, I strung together a few clips: https://streamable.com/hcmx6l
Also, I picked up on Peyton Watson being called "Twin." *Speculation: I think it may have something to do with teasing him and Meleek Thomas, the newcomers to the team.

The main question for the Cavs (ESPN)
Can Peyton Watson make a difference as the fifth starter?
The Cavs have been heavily invested in four of their five starters for years -- Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen in the front court with Donovan Mitchell and now James Harden, after a midseason exchange for Darius Garland, in the backcourt. But they've had a rotating cast filling out the last spot next to them -- Dean Wade, Max Strus or De'Andre Hunter, most recently -- all of whom have failed to raise the ceiling of the lineup.
Watson, 24, is coming off his best season with the Nuggets and has the potential to push this group over the edge even more if he can continue his improved 3-point shooting to go along with his defensive chops.
What to watch during training camp: Frontcourt depth
Does Cleveland have enough depth if Peyton Watson, Evan Mobley or Jarrett Allen miss time? Allen played 56 games and Watson played 54 last season. During the Cavaliers' postseason, frontcourt reserves Thomas Bryant and Nae'Qwan Tomlin failed to reach five minutes per game. Because of the Watson acquisition, the Cavs have no financial flexibility to add a 15th player or even carry a non-guaranteed player. They are $45,000 below the first apron hard cap.
Dates to watch
Nov. 2: deadline to exercise team option of Jaylon Tyson
Nov. 15: Mario Hezonja's contract becomes guaranteed
Extension candidates
Porter (four years, $95 million; eligible through June 30)
Contract status
- Guaranteed contracts:12
- Partial: 2
- Exhibit 10: 4
- Two-way: 3

Will the Cavs have a new home channel?
Currently, we here in Ohio are without a channel to show the Cavaliers, as well as the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Are there plans to have a new channel in place for the start of the new season? I hope so!

How is our media day coverage this bad?
Got home yesterday and was excited to watch the player interviews and wnded up turning it off halfway through Mobleys interview. The sound on all the interviews was absolute garbage and the camera angle looked so amateur - I’m shocked. This is a professional team and it looks/sounds like a high school production. Hey Cavs media - get your shit together. You shit the bed yesterday.

Paywall [THE ATHLETIC] What happened at Cavaliers’ media day: Takeaways on James Harden, Peyton Watson and more
Can the Cavs’ stars click at the same time?
Can the Cavs get all of their stars — Mitchell, Harden, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen — clicking at the same time in the playoffs? Mobley was perhaps the most maligned Cavs player during the regular season. He told reporters Monday that he spent a lot of time during the offseason working on his offensive game. Health always plays a factor. But unfamiliarity is no longer an excuse.
A nugget from Denver
Cleveland retained its four core players as well as key role players from last season, including Tyson and Sam Merrill. There was widespread speculation during the summer that LeBron James could return for a third stint with the Cavs. Of course, LeBron decided to go farther East, and the Cavs shifted their focus.
“For a lot of reasons, (LeBron returning to the Cavs) made sense,” Mitchell said. “I didn’t think Philly; I thought if he didn’t come here, he’d go to Golden State. At the end of the day, I’m glad we made the move and got (Peyton Watson). I’m excited about that, and I think for us it’s about moving forward and not looking back at that. Now with him in Philly, they’re an opponent; they’ve gotten better. … They’ll be a fierce competitor.”
