Discussion The only multitool my dad ever owned
Back around 1996 or so, my dad and I bought matching Gerber “Multi-Pliers.” I left mine in a hotel in Missouri by mistake and ended up replacing it with a Leatherman of some sort, but my dad continued using his.
He worked in factory maintenance for over 40 years until he retired around 2007, and many times this tool would be all he needed for whatever repair he was making. I remember when we bought them, he was absolutely amazed at how many tools he could just fit in a pouch on his belt.
Anyway he passed away last month, and I was going through some of his things and found this tool. Brought back a lot of memories.

Discussion Overkill? Decided I would carry both MX clip and ARC Daily
Does anyone else carry multiple multi tools as EDC?
Or is this silly? Lol
Why not!!! I figured this would be the best way to determine which one I actually reach for more.

Discussion Real talk, I love multitools but what the hell are the saws for?
Has anyone ever actually used their multitools saw? Why don't more multitools come with a serrated blade instead of a saw?
Edit: I'm sorry multitool saw, I was unfamiliar with your game.

Discussion Utility Knifes 2026 EDC?
My question is..... What utility knife are you currently carrying EDC? What job do you work daily? What roles does It play at work and outside of work?
I currently carry this Kobalt speed release. I just received this model today in the mail and fell in love with it. I was using the compact speed release and this one is the same width just slightly longer.
I have DeWalt Craftsman and HART utility knifes all with button type release mechanisms besides the HART which uses a knob. And to me second to kobalt it's DeWalt with the atomic type utility knife.
I plan on getting a couple different craftsman models I lack. And I want the Milwaukee fastback even though I think it's way overrated.

Discussion New Multi Tool Day!
I've been carrying a modified SAK Waiter and decided to switch it up. Stumbled upon this Gerber Dime today and thought I'd give it a try. It's definitely heavier but has the pliers. I’m gonna miss the eyeglass screwdriver and corkscrew.

Discussion An ode to the Leatherman Squirt PS4
I have carried it in my coin pocket for 10 years. I cannot really remember not having it. It has saved me so many times. Reparing a phone while on a trip, peeling off ticks, removing splinters, clipping zip-ties, modifying my laptop plug to work while traveling, and many many more.
I had a close call, and almost lost it this year. So I looked for a potential replacement. Now I am sitting here with a nextool S11 pro, and comparing the two. The S11 seems excellent in quality, and is quite cheap... but it is not quite the same. It is quite a lot bigger. I measured it to be +55% weight and +35-60% in volume, depending on how you define volume (w/wo the screw heads). The S11 pliers seem more robust.. but not as accurate, nor as long/sleek, and not as "pinchy" as the PS4.
The squirt ps4 is not without shortcomings.. but it is tiny, and still totally capable. I will try to carry the S11. But for now, I just wish I could have bought some backup squirt PS4's instead of the S11.
Perhaps at some point, a true sucessor to the Squirt PS4, at a similar size, will show up.. the S11 is nice, but a big boy compared to the PS4.

Discussion Anyone else have lock rock (vertical blade play) on most of the tools in their Wave Alpha? Is Leatherman over?
Went through 2 tools trying to return and exchange them and they both had it. Drove to the store and they had 3 in store and all had it. Sent in the one I kept to leatherman and it returned with nothing changed. I think it's actually worse. Almost all of the tools make an audible clicking sound when moving them up and down a little. The only one that is decent is the file.
Is Leatherman over? Should I ask for a replacement or just sell it and buy another brand like Victorinox? (I handled one of those and it was absolutely flawless and really smooth).
I really like the wave alpha, but dang.

Discussion Am I the only one impressed by the Chinese Leatherman clones?
I love (and use, heavily) my Multper MP2049 so much I just ordered a Bibury BI2049BL.
The day I held the Multper in my hands I was blown away by its quality—the weight, the sharpness of the blades, the included accessories, the standard sized bit slot, the excellent machining and the affordable price. It made me wonder how or why anyone who actually uses these tools would pay such a premium for Leatherman with their increasing QC issues and cheaping out on accessories.
Just my .02.

Discussion Could Leatherman go the way of Maglite?
We in the flashlight enthusiast community have seen Maglite—once the most trusted and favored brand in flashlights—become eclipsed by numerous Chinese manufacturers who produce vastly superior lights at much cheaper prices.
The patents on some Leatherman tools have expired and clones are starting to appear on the market. From what I’ve seen, they’re just about as good as Leatherman especially when you factor in the much lower prices.
This is more or less what happened with Maglite, and now Olight and Wurkkos/Sofirn sell like hotcakes.
Could the same thing happen with Leatherman?

Discussion Impressed with these shears
Trying this again because my pics didnt come thru last time.
Had to cut thick fabric with these today and the shears went right thru like butter.
Still prefer the Klarus MT07 as a whole over this for a larger multi tool but i like this for duty purposes (zip tie cutter, shears, saw, etc.
In the second picture does anyone know why the flathead locks at 22 / 45 / 90 / 180 degrees?
I think there is a multi purpose beyond screwdriver that I am not understanding with this design.

Discussion Is Leatherman really all that .... and a bag of chips?
I have a couple of Leatherman tools and love them - Surge, Wave+, Bond - each for slightly different uses. Recently I was at an old-school hardware store, and they had a bunch of Leatherman tools and Gerber tools displayed together. As I looked, it seemed like the Gerbers were really nice looking and seemed to have much lower prices than comparable Leathermen.
For example, the new Leatherman Wave Alpha is an awesome tool and has a couple of features I'd love to have - one of which is the nice, big scissors. And the fine people at Leatherman are mighty proud of it - at $200 bucks!
So is Leatherman really that much better than the competition to be able to justify such high prices compared with what seems like really nice tools from other makers?
And assuming Leatherman really is the diamond of multi-tools, what are other leading brands and specific tools that get big respect?
EDIT: I'm not trying to stir up a hornet's nest of opinion, and if this is inappropriate, mods please delete or let me know, and I'll pull it.

Discussion Badger Outdoor Nail vs leatherman signal
Hey guys, im a knive guy and i dont really have a good Multitool, just a very very cheap Basic one.
I like the functions of the leatherman signal and i dont want a multitool thats very heavy. The signal in Europa is like 150dollar and the badger outdoor nail, which is very similar to the leatherman signal i guess is like 50dollar.
I dont really need a multitool but its always nice to have. Same with knives. You have 20 but u still want another.
I normaly dont buy the cheap stuff but i heard that leatherman sometimes isnt that great either. So im not sure which way to go, with the cheap badger or the leatherman...
Whats your oppinion ?
The picture Shows the badger

Discussion What all do you carry?
My ideal multitool is a complement to a standalone pocket knife. These are the only tools I’d carry on me, aside from maybe a flashlight.
What do you carry right now? Are you a multitool “only” person, also carry a dedicated blade, add some other tool, etc.?
