Recommendation Request What to buy…

So I have this (pics attached) it’s super bulky and heavy. Works great. I’m torn between a Leatherman or a Victorinox. I’ve heard better things about Victorinox. I think I’d only need the Leatherman wingman or skeletool cx

Wanting some options on what to save for

From what I have heard leatherman is now for milking the hipsters dry of money, just get a Victorinox, they are doing it right since 1884.

I would recommend the Victorinox MX Clip. In general, I would say that, in recent years, my experience (luck??) with Victorinox has been far better than Leatherman.

I have several SAKs and 2 of the Spirit line and all have had exceptional fit/finish/quality.

Leatherman consistency and QC have just gotten terrible in recent years. I have some really good LM tools. And I have gotten several “bad” ones. Why did I buy “several”? Well I was buying them as gifts for a few years. I bought some for friends and family. Then I bought a bunch of Waves and Surges for my staff as a gift. Between the two models, probably 15 or so I bought at one time. And at least 1/3 of them had some sort of issue (some cosmetic, some functional). Some had to be replaced initially or warrantied in the 16 or so months since I bought them for staff. And the level of inconsistency is just bizarre. Like you unbox two Waves and the tools or pliers will easily deploy on one but are almost completely locked up on the other.

They may have a good warranty. But I expected more from a company who sees themselves as a “premium” brand. Especially since I was giving what I thought were nice and thoughtful gifts. It’s just embarrassing.

That said, I personally have a few LMs that have been spectacular and I really like. And I really love the free technology. So I really want to like them. But if I don’t need a bit driver and don’t need to wear gloves, I almost always grab my Spirit MX instead of a LM.

I have no idea. It was free at work. I think it’s meant to be a free product

Both are solid. Depends what tools you find useful. Do you use the pliers or hardly need them? To me scissor are super useful and necessary..
