I know they have paths they like to take and locations to land, but being on a balloon previously it’s all wind based

Looks like a relatively good landing tbf

Thats how balloons land.

They don't schedule the landing cos they can't steer. They land when there's a clear park in their direction of travel

Top of post is either a 22kV or 66kV HV 3 phase feeder which is by definition high voltage (>1kV for AC)
You might be thinking of 220kV EHV transmission lines.
Lower down on post are the 400V LV 3 phase distribution lines
A 22kV phase to phase short or a ~15kV line to ground short across the balloon lines and basket won’t be pretty.

Pity their balloon isn't as full of hot air as their on air 'talent'.

I’ve seen 4 really hard landings from hot air balloons in Melbourne, which I think is an extraordinary number. They must hard land a lot if I’ve seen 4!!

In 3 of the 4 property was damaged, including council fencing and university property in another … the passengers were absolutely shook in all instances.

This looks relatively softer, though a tight area.

Just doesn’t look or feel safe.

Any landing your can walk away from ..

Hi! Son-in-law of balloon pilot here. Absolutely nothing wrong here, these balloons pick from hundreds of sites around Melbourne to land, in accordance with wind patterns etc. The power lines will have been taken into account and this looks like a completely normal landing. Looks like the pilot had great aim tbh as it takes great skill to fly a balloon to a location successfully.
