How is the new Fire Emblem?

I'm a big fan of the fire emblem games, but I will admit that I didn't like engage. I found the combat to be as engaging as ever, but the anime tropes and characters were really annoying. I liked 3H, though. My issues is that I heard the new one is heavily skewed towards the out of combat activities, particularly the social features. Is this true?

Kinda feeling the same on Cai’s route, I think I’m on chapter 8 or 9. Combat is so good and the supports are way better written but tracking the weekly stuff and all the side quests is getting to be a lot

Just a tip/exploit. You can max all supports without wasting anytime. Support levels are saved globally. So go have meals, hand out gifts for like a 200 turn chapter or something, then restart the chapter, rinse repeat. Once you've done this once for a single route, you never have to worry about missing any recruits due to time. I learned about this after my first route unfortunately.

Do supports carry over to other routes?

As in, can I prepare for my next route with my current lord by having the next lord dine with potential recruits?
