How is the new Fire Emblem?

I'm a big fan of the fire emblem games, but I will admit that I didn't like engage. I found the combat to be as engaging as ever, but the anime tropes and characters were really annoying. I liked 3H, though. My issues is that I heard the new one is heavily skewed towards the out of combat activities, particularly the social features. Is this true?

The ratio of FE battles to "other content" is definitely the most lopsided it's ever been. There's a lot more management now. Day-specific and time-specific events, along with world map distances, need to be considered. Mounts are a whole new subsystem. Recruitment's more involved, sometimes gated behind quests. A few classes need to be unlocked. And you're gonna have to be a little more thoughtful pairing up units if you wanna see all the supports. They don't come pouring in the way 3H's did.

The ratio is definitely different depending on which path you take. For Theodora and Dietrich it feels very fight heavy. And then Act 2 is all combat for everyone.

I think they intend Cai to be the tutorial route as his map options are limited and there are far less battles, story is simpler, and more micromanagement for min max. The others have quirks or require you to plan things out in battle and on the time management side.
