Caring about games being immature and only wanting to play super mature games is something I really cared about when I was a teenager.

To be even more clear, whether the main character is some regular person or a mythical chosen one is a plot element, and caring about the individual plot elements or thinking they have some relationship to the quality or maturity of a title is inherently an immature and undeveloped idea. Something for kids and teens who think what makes a story good/bad is the individual story beats and not the actual good stuff.
