3% of the population knows how to merge. It’s crazy.

Lol where do you live?

Where I live 95% know how to merge, the other 5% stand out and it’s annoying. But mostly people are good at merging. During rush hour there’s really no point to NOT letting the guy in, your fate (slow drive home) is inevitable.

Center of the US, so interstate driving. People don’t understand to speed up to highway speeds on the ramp and then if you’re ahead, merge in front of the vehicle in the right lane. If you’re door to door or behind, slide in behind. It’s simple. See it messed up most of the time. I’m glad it’s not messed up where you are.

It would be simple if anybody drove correctly, or paid attention to their surroundings. Sometimes people can't get up to highway speeds because of clover leaf ramps, very short ramps, or dumbasses in front of them, and then there are all the assholes on the road following way too close to people in front of them and no one bothering to let people in.

Yep, bad drivers need to be sent to training I believe. Way too many crashes caused by bad drivers and raising all our insurance rates.

I’m so envious I have a hard time believing that, where do you live if you don’t mind?

Silicon Valley in California. Heavy traffic on-ramps often have merge lanes or metered lights to help. Most people are reasonable.

Things happen anyway, wife rear ended on hwy 101 by pickup, Guy kept her company until assistance arrived. Friend in multi car crash, one driver said his fault glad no one hurt. I was rearended and gal said she was moving to Mexico next day (UH OH) - she called her insurance and took care of it, I worried for nothing.

And another 90% of the population thinks they know how to merge, making things much worse.

This is true! I drive 3 1/2 hours to work and it’s crazy what I see these days.

You know it's bad when you do merge properly and truckers wave to say thanks like it's the first time they've seen that in 6 months

Try living in an area where there are a ton of 4 way red lights. Even if you know how to use them properly, its useless to do so and a cant beat em, join em type situation.

Oh man I can’t imagine the sheer amount of chaos that is. I wish you luck

I learned how to drive and then I went to driving school to properly learn how to drive and the amount of things I learned was shocking.  You're taught to tap on your breaks if someone gets to close but yet some people will freak out if that happens to them

It’s amazing that there isn’t a definitive school we all go to in order to really learn to drive. I got to simulators every year since I’m a pilot and have for 35 years. We train all the time and drivers barely train at age 16. We need driving simulators to teach and rehab bad drivers.

It really is! You'd think everyone would have to go to driving school in order to drive
