Consecrate rank 2 costs a lot - the talent in ret is probably necessary. The new hp forbearance shield is going to be strong. The taunt reset is really nice.
Depends on what you are focusing on. If you are in a party/raid, then 8 points might be a lot for 50% regen with no spirit. But....if you are solo questing, then 11 points to get water shield too will probably smooth out mana concerns pretty substantially.
Probably not worth getting at level 30, but definitely by level 50.
It they don't nerf Penance rank 1, it'll be the way to get to at least 40, but can probably go all the way to 60. Smiting spec seems promising as well whe we have the points required for the key talents.
You go spirit tap -> disc until you can get 3/3 meditation (lvl 23/24). Then you respec into full disc. Pretty smooth experience. 20-30 can be a slog without dungeons tho. Penance makes the spec 100
Wand spec into shadow is much better. You don't need meditation, spirit tap and wanding is more than sufficient to sustain indefinitely. Extra hit and range is very useful, swp doing 33% more damage is huge for multi dotting, and mind flay actually becomes quite useful at rank 2 for trading mana for faster kills, particularly thanks to the pushback bug.
To be clear though, this is intentional and the game has worked this way since literally 2004. If it didn't, you would have 0.000005% crit chance at low levels.
Yeah, it feels kinda bad, but it's better than the alternative.
Reminds me of the leveling system in Oblivion where if you don't minmax your skills, you will get weaker as you gain levels because enemies scale with your level
Yeh i dont understand why they hate warriors, even enhancement is getting stormstrike at 25 with short cd, pallies getting holy strike at like 6? We got nothing, first instant cast spell is ww still at 34. Right now prot feels fanatic, and fury and arms literally just auto attack simulator
I’m okay with it. Every class needs a power spike. For Warrior it happens at 30, 36 and 40. Being a bit of an auto attack Andy until then makes it feel so much better.
I get what you mean. Historically warrior has always been the worst at lvling. It’s just in forever it seems like everyone is getting some help with lvling, even warlock blueberry does good threat now, not that they needed it……i just feel salty all we get is a lame 30 sec cd victory rush that heals pathetic 10% hp….the buff only last 20 sec, and cd is 30 sec??? A lot of times i finally got it off cd and my buff expire lol
Well, rage normalization does mean your rage economy is better while leveling. Rend crits and TC scales off AP. It’s really not bad, and soon you’ll actually get rage from getting hit too.
This is technically not true, at level 20 I did the math and with the Forsaken Axe (the best 2h at the time), you were getting less rage than you at level 20 with the same weapon in regular classic
Who cares… it’s just the way the talent trees work at this level, WW has ALWAYS been a level 36 skill anyway, staying true to that. No need to be focused on what you have at level 30, plenty of classes don’t hit their stride until later levels with new skills and scaling anyway
Tried the three specs as warlock. 1-30 Aff feels the best. But if you are only using gear you find, your spell power is going to be lacking. I have 86 spell power at 28 and it feels worse than era. Early on 1-20 it felt a lot stronger. The 5% hit 20% threat talent is worth it, your pet can tank your damage for a lot longer.
Demonic brand feels really strong. Going to level as Aff to 35~ and swap to demo to get demonic knowledge and instant corruption. The spell power per level is going to give you more damage than the whole aff tree. Then you can grab master demo and demonic pact for another 25% damage.
Succubus though is great and a real power spike. Worth grabbing at 20.
Not sure if tailoring might be required or not really depends on how fast I level. Leveling it is not fast and takes some time. But if you're behind the curve you can probably buy the gear for cheap off the AH since the spell power gear is needed to level tailoring. I crafted all the cheap wool stuff at level 20 cap and that was as much as I twinked out, was probably a 15-20% damage increase over the small amount of SP I had.
Rain of Fire slaps in dungeons being able to crit. So Hellfire must really slap. Warlock AOE DPS might be decent at max level hopefully.
They really need to add more spell power to quest items. None casters get quest gear equivalent to crafted gear to the point leveling crafting just slows your leveling down. Only really notice caster items on elite quests and dungeon quests.
Swiftmend made resto druid a lot more enjoyable. Didn't notice much change from downranking nerfs. I can't wait for wild growth once the game releases.
My main gripe is how many drops and quest rewards now feel lacking when they don't have + healing on them. I didn't really replace gear between 20 and 30.
Yeah I've noticed this gearing too. They should have made int give spell power and spirit healing power, and still have that chuck on weapons for the effect they wanted. Getting a blue with int spirit Stam e not replacing your green that has healing power sucks
Most dps in raids is pretty mindless when it comes to rotation really. Only gets interesting if you go sweaty and minmax to parse and compete that way.
This is mindless even in dungeons and pve. You’re pressing sinister strike then either spending it on slice and dice or eviserate. Neither buttons are fun to press
It really does blow, I was hoping they would lean into the poison earlier and give us fan of knives or something to feel useful on anything that isn’t a boss.
I found 15-20 a bit of a drag on my rogue but 20-30 was a breeze once I got riposte. Felt like I could comfortably fight 2-3 mobs my level if I played it correctly.
It seems like the gear from the other professions is so much stronger for leveling. As someone who usually goes engineering while leveling I just don't think I'll be doing it this go around, even though tailoring would be much easier to farm up at max level.
Fair, Hunter is extra ridiculous right now. I went Warrior into Warlock and that was like finding water in a desert. Could easily do 4-5 mobs at a time at Level 10.
Mine is extremely geared at 30 and kills in half the speed of Hunter. In dungeons I am losing in ST DPS to classes half as geared as I am.
It’s in a rough spot. We will see how it feels 50-60. There are a ton of % damage scaling talents later on. I think we’ll be fine for 60 if we can hit 400-500 pre-raid SP.
I’ve got a 19 warlock and honestly think I’ll be rolling with one as a tailor and enchanter when forever comes out. I’m herb and alch right now and the campground buffs are nice but the sheer lack of gear is pretty insane. My blacksmith warrior has two blues and multiple greens from crafting and seems more powerful than the warlock.
As a pally lvling as a healer with my warrior buddy its really nice to have healing gear that is actually mail from bs instead of a bunch of cloth and the crafted gear is amazing. Although it does seem way to op. We can pull like 10 mobs and be fine.
Was gonna have my main priest be tailor/enchant n my mage herb/alch. Is it enough to craft greens n send over, or is there was more bop blues that its the same issue?
Idk Mage started to feel easy for me around level 24-25 and I wasn’t BIS’d out. Could easily fight and kill 3-4 mobs that were the same level. Only time it gets dicey is if two of them are casters
Mages are trying to lie saying they’re ass lol, they’re just not OP anymore.
I actually think the damage is good but even without using fire Nova I'm drinking after nearly every pack. World pvp is pretty rough because you just go oom. Fun to 1 tap someone but if they have friends you are done for
The key is to go resto and use a 1h/shield with water shield on and just use shocks and melee + flametongue. Maybe slightly slow but can basically just keep going with little rest especially if you are troll or skelf for regen racials.
Learned that basically blizzard wanted to heavily nerf casters and slightly buff melee while leveling. It’s a shame. Equipment upgrades don’t actually feel good, it just feels like you’re getting slightly closer to your base strength in era. No idea why this was necessary.
Priest here. Leveling as shadow feels like driving a car that burns oil but still runs. You survive, but you're always watching your mana like you're checking the gas gauge on a long trip. Healing dungeons in shadow spec works better than it should. Nobody cares what spec you're on if the heals go through
Well what can i say Paladin at 30 is a blast with rank 2 consecrate. Running sword and board Prot/Ret human Paladin, so extremely versatile and useful for any group, damage is kinda nutty.
I call it “Giving your little brother the unplugged controller” spec.
You can sometimes shoot multi shot, viper sting, and arcane shot if you want to….
Or you can just auto attack and let your pet do everything. It really doesn’t matter, it’s not much of a dps change anyways. The game kind of plays itself most engages
Liking the ability does not make the rotation good brother. There’s nothing to manage it’s just hitting 2 hawks into arcane and some mutishots in between
I don’t know what more we could have and still keep it within BM scope. But to be completely honest, beastmaster has always been the spec where you don’t do a lot most Ra Ra leaders I’ve met for instance go beast mastery because it allows them to focus on dynamics. There’s always the other specs marksman will always be the best probably.
We had kill command and flanking strikes for pet interaction in sod there’s no reason for us to only have beastial wrath and hawks as the only offensive buttons that interact with pets
Kill command would be nice, I think the hawk is better though. Both are usable in melee range.
I’m sure we’re in the same line as thinking as rogues who would like shadowstep or a warrior who wants to charge in combat. Honestly, my advice to you is look at some of the gimmicky items that they put in. There’s a trinket. You can get like level 25 or a gun that does knock back point being there’s more than enough ways to fill out your cool down bar with good shit.
Tell that to hunters. "But hunters have always been strong at low levels" and this isnt era. Nerf them at low levels if you intend to balance them at 60
They’re pretty badass, but sadly the hunter discord nerds say it’s meh. If a mob has high armor arcane shot is better. I just unlocked hawks and it’s been good, I’m gonna try MM now though
I’m enjoying level as boomkin, I think I took the reduce interrupt talent in restro and I think that has made a big difference. Roots dmg before breaking is kind of high or the chance to break is low so soloing elites has been pretty easy.
That I'm not rolling any of the casters I wanted, elemental feels awful, balance feels awful, shadow feels awful.
Wanting to heal endgame but with dungeon exp being dead on arrival not sure if im ever going to get there.
I’m 30 now, never BIS’d out, and leveling was still easy. Could easily fight multiple mobs at once even the same level as me. You just don’t get to train the whole zone anymore with Blizzard/CoC/Nova to have 100% snare upkeep.
You don’t even need to be good to handle a pack of 3 lmao, ice lance every freeze proc even on groups of enemies after nova since its triple damage for low mana cost, then arcane explosion spam. Profit. You can even do flame strike pull on a group, nova, ice lance all the freeze procs, AE spam.
No, they’re not OP. But get out of here if you think Mages aren’t still good.
No one is saying mages are weak, they are saying the end game rotation is boring. Blizzard's own philosophy on this is that each spec should have "about 3-5 rotational abilities under a 10 second CD" that they press. Right now each mage spec has 2. That has nothing to do with their ability to farm shit in the open world.
well fire doesn't have strictly 2, but fire's problem is not end-game. it's that it does nothing until endgame. hot streak is useless when you have 7% crit.
Why have ppl not talked about scorch spam / fishing for hot streak + imp fire blast crit chance? I think there’s def a way to bait out more hot streak fast cast pyros
Ppl haven’t really thought about it fully I think - just under the idea of hard casting fire balls. I don’t think it’s meant to be played that way until end game and higher crit %
Shadow priest dps is pretty poor. Even with fairly good gear I was not able to keep up with a prot warrior in our BFD run. Shadowform coming online so late is obviously the reason, but it's sooo far down the tree
Nothing that I didn't already know... that being Windfury would be one shotting a lot of players, especially once I saw the datamined "WW Axe" that shamans get from their air totem quest chain. It's insanely strong.
Stocks run just now. I'm in BM spec. I can't find a way to spend points in Survival tree that compensates for losing hawks. Maybe that'll change once explo trap unlocks, but right now my hawks are almost double the damage of an immolation trap.
Top dmg done was our tank, btw (mostly consecration & ret aura followed by other stuff)
Leveling as prot pally, feels like I am the the tortoise in the hare vs tortoise race. Atleast I can do stuff solo at my own sluggish pace. I guess I took that journey part to the heart for the beta.
