Forever Beta Feedback Biggest nerf in WoW Forever
Please bring back the helicopter braids
r/classicwow • u/Riotgrrlia • 2d ago
It’s that time again… but with some changes.
We have a new hot topic;
DUNGEON EXP!
We are doing a similar Megathread on this too last time, however based on Feedback people want to see some threads more out in the open so the guidelines go as follows.
- New Unique Feedback Threads will be left up, this means you can’t simply be saying what others are saying, but if you’re bringing a new idea to the table your thread will not be forwarded here.
- Repeated Feedback Threads which are against the Subreddit Rules as it is, will be forwarded to this Thread upon their removal.
Any Feedback you have on Megathreads or Subreddit Moderation should be submitted to ModMail and not in this thread, it will be removed otherwise.

Why the hell are they so obsessed with PvP realms? Don't they realize they have 0 chance against the neo-WoW gamer generation?
Seriously, new players have the game knowledge, the skill, the mentality, the speed, the focus and most importantly, the time.
Yet no matter what I say, they won't budge. It's PvP server all the way "for the thrill" they say, in 2026. Why not just do BGs, or type /pvp if you feel frisky?
Why is getting forcefully ganked, outnumbered, outplayed, corpse camped, ghost running back, a core element to the WoW experience for 40yo+ men? Please make it make sense.

While levelling on the beta I noticed green mobs felt a bit stingy on XP, so I started logging every kill's XP from the combat log (solo, no rested bonus, no group). The numbers fit one clear rule, so I'm posting them in case it's a bug.
What I found
Mobs at or above your level give exactly the documented vanilla amount. Mobs below your level give less, and the numbers match a formula where the mob's level is used where your level should be:
(45 + 5 × your level) × (1 − levels below / ZD)(45 + 5 × mob level) × (1 − levels below / ZD)(ZD = "zero difference", the usual table: 5 at levels 1–7, 9 at 16–19, 11 at 20–29, etc.)
Data (every single kill matched the Forever column exactly)
| My level | Mob level | Vanilla | Forever (predicted) | Got |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 16 | 18 | 138 | 138 | 138 |
| 16 | 16 | 125 | 125 | 125 |
| 16 | 15 | 111 | 107 | 107 |
| 16 | 14 | 97 | 89 | 89 |
| 16 | 13 | 83 | 73 | 73 |
| 16 | 11 | 55 | 44 | 44 |
| 5 | 1 | 14 | 10 | 10 |
So greens are effectively discounted twice: once by their lower level, and again for being below you. It's −4% one level below, rising to −20% five levels below at level 16. If the same rule holds later, it would be about −13% for a level 30 killing level 25 mobs, and about −7% at 60 vs 55.
Why I think it might be a bug
The "mob above you" part of the formula uses your level as normal, only the "mob below you" part uses the mob's level. That looks more like a swapped variable in one branch than a deliberate design change. But I may be wrong, and if this is intended (or how the original game actually worked), it'd be great to hear that from the devs.
How to check it yourself
Kill a mob 3–5 levels below you solo, with no rested XP, and compare: - your level 16 vs a level 13 mob: 73 (Forever) vs 83 (vanilla) - your level 20 vs a level 16 mob: 80 (Forever) vs 92 (vanilla)
Please post your numbers, especially anyone with a Classic Era character to compare against.
Quest XP isn't affected, only kill XP.
EDIT: https://github.com/ClassicWoWCommunity/forever-bugs/issues/138#issuecomment-5871418253
Apparently it is intentional, however I feel like adding this kind of hidden xp nerfs while at the same time making hype announcements like how they added 5% xp buff to well fed or tent rested xp buff every hour etc. is weird. I'd like to keep this post up as a discussion post about how everyone feels about this change and at the same time as a PSA for people to know about while planning their leveling strategies.
Feels like an odd thing to nerf specifically too, if kill experience was the problem, why not globally nerf all kill xp instead of just lower level ones. If the reason was to rebalance xp around the newly added quests, why not rebalance the quest xp's instead? If it was done to balance xp around quests, to me that feels like they're trying to make questing the only viable leveling method. I'm confused about it, would really love to hear their reasoning for it.
Here is a graph better explaining what the new xp formula for green mobs mean, assuming the predicted new xp formula for green mobs is correct. The new formula change disproportionately punishes you way harder at lower levels compared to higher levels:

hunter bias?

I am sick and tired of hearing from and dealing with retribution paladins. I feel bad for the Prot and Holy paladin players that have to deal with this tumor spec associated with them.
This is the solution I came up with to benefit both Holy and Prot as well as Ret. Now that Ret is its own dps class they will have less hybrid tax your welcome.

Hunter are selling tags. Its not possible to finish quest without paying gold for hunters because they are tagging all mobs. This one even live in the game 24/7. This is worst ever experiense i ever had in my life in this game. Everyone in one place for quest to finish... Reports doesn't work. This is basically a game griffing and abusing... So many hunters just selling tags for this quest.
EDIT: ps: For anyone who doesn't really understand what “feedback” means, you can just ignore this post. I'm shocked by people. This is my personal experience; I'm not calling for any changes. I'm just sharing what I've experienced myself.

Im pretty certain that every party buff in WoW Forever is now on avg 30min or 1hour(?)
Is there any proper reasoning why Battle Shout is 3 minutes?
I mean, one thing is that its 3min, but the other is that it cost 10rage.
You cant even buff people pre-fight unless you use your 1min cd to generate a tiny amount to afford it outside combat.
Would making it free or longer be anything but a nice QoL?

The area within roughly 60 yards of the great lift was split into about four micro-layers. You’d phase in and out of them every couple of yards, for example we were able to abuse it to avoid getting killed.

Charging money for an addon is against TOS, but they are allowed to continue, even sponsoring streams to promote their garbage. The addon is disgusting and goes against everything Classic WoW should be, literally turning people's brains off, also promoting a toxic 'rush to end-game as fast as possible' mindset. One of the worst addons ever made.

why is this robe 'holy damage' with a nature hippy druid design, bro?
it's feeling so lazy... lack of identity in the spec, no???!
in fact all of the new crafting robes are just the same look as the low level tailoring robes such as 'white linen robe' 'blue linen robe' 'red linen robe'..
it just feels so lazy, dont make new designs i'm not saying that... just do some other classic robe fr if it's a blue upgrade why does it look identical to the level 5 robes

The way it is now I will mostly be gathering the quests for a dungeon and running it the once unless there's a juicy piece of gear that drops worth hunting for. I just think subsequent runs will feel kind of lackluster since before, if you didnt get the piece of gear you wanted, at least you got a chunk of xp.
I'm all for deincentivizing boosting because that meta was pretty toxic but I feel like it should be at least a somewhat viable option for those who enjoy dungeons.
I will be playing a resto dwarf shaman no matter what and im sure they will have it smoothed out by launch.
Wash yer back!

Left - My TBC hunter char, right - Blizzard class changes video - Class Highlights - Part 2: Hunter, Mage, Paladin | World of Warcraft: Forever
Firstly, I don’t understand why Blizzard, as a company, would upload a video in 2026 showing the character firing imaginary arrows, while in Classic/TBC the correct animation is displayed.
Secondly, I refuse to believe that it’s that difficult to program something like that in 2026 when you are a gaming giant before showing the whole world your class changes.
Like, why are the standards so low?

Druid: Excelent pick. You can do any role that the party demands rather than your own prefered role. Has access to Innervate which enhances the potential of other people, and two hit% increase auras so you can buff your party. Can now revive without cooldown, removing one of your greatest incoveniences to others. 10/10.
Paladin: Another great choice, as you can perform any role based on the wants and needs of other people. Has excelent buffing abilities, which will make others appreciate you. You can fulfill your true purpose using Divine Intervention, sacrificing yourself to save another person. 10/10.
Shaman: One of the poster childs of utilitarian class picks. 20 man raids will need 4 of you based on your character's name color rather than your own personality and skill. Can buff any class well, but you will feel much more self-fullfillment on a melee heavy comp. Has two DPS specs though, which brings it down a notch. 9/10.
Priest: Has not one, but two healing specs to adapt to what your raid needs. Has excelent buffing abilities with Fortitude, Shields and even Levitate to help other move on water faster. However, Shadow Priest looks like step down from TBC, being much more selfish. You if want to DPS looks elsewhere. 8/10.
Warrior: An excelent Tank which many people will need come forever. However, your class name is sullied by people who only want to DPS, so make sure to double time on those Tank LFGs. 8/10.
Warlock: *sigh* if you HAVE to play a DPS go ahead and pick this one. You can haul ass to far away dungeons while your party members keep leveling and gaining experience just to get summoned on your behalf. Soulstone helps others revive and can save wipes - people will be grateful you were there. Imps can buff stamina, and succubus can seduce humanoids, giving you much needed CC. Additionally, with how curses where reworked in Forever, you can adapt to your team's playstyle. 5/10.
Mage: Why do you want to play pure DPS again? I thought you liked helping others... Anyway, you can spend so much time making food and water for others, as well as portals to help people leave dungeons just slightly quicker. Intellect buff is also amazing, so casters will give you the respect and sense of needness you desire. You can also polymorph which is the best CC in the game. 5/10.
Rogue: Why are you doing this? This isn't like you. You changed. Make sure to ALWAYS keep lockpicking levelled up, you do NOT want to leave a chest unlocked - They will judge you. You can Sap Humanoids, but you will be useless on packs with other mobs - if your party starts struggling with larger packs, you can be sure everyone will be wishing they had a mage instead. 3/10.
Hunter: 0/10.
