Troubleshooting | Mac Volume not working for literally anything on Chrome

For the last month or so any video I play on chrome just has no audio, and I just cannot figure out why.

The volume toggle on youtube is always on and the sound on my laptop is always turned up. It doesn't work even if I switch to a guest chrome profile, however it does work on other browsers, meaning its a chrome specific but not profile specific issue. I'm on macbook air btw. Oh and its not specific to youtube, I watch uni lectures on EchoVideo and the sound doesn't work there either.

Obviously this is all pretty vague but if anyone has any ideas for what I could do, please let me know! I'm in the midst of a hectic university semester and this is getting really frustrating!

Thanks a lot.
