Discussion Fire Brad Stevens

3.3k Upvotes

The title says it all. That is worse than the return for Kawhi. That’s worse than the return for Walker Kessler. That’s worse than Desmond Bane, Bridges, or really any other trade I’ve seen in a long time. He just traded Jaylen Brown, who is under contract for 3 more years and was 6th in MVP voting, for Paul George and 2 firsts.

Fire Brad Stevens.

Given everything happening right now, and seeing other sports subs going the same, I'd like to make this proposal.

EDIT: Apropos of nothing, /r/nba just banned them

Discussion I’m getting more and more salty as the night goes on

1.1k Upvotes

I was pissed when I first heard the news but figured I will still support the team it’s just a game.

Yet as this evening has progressed the reality dawned on me that my winters will no longer be the same. I have zero excitement to watch the Celtics this year. I’m not gonna get the excitement of every regular season game night. The worst part is that all of you built up Brad as some savior demigod and this is what happens when ego gets to a man. I was getting so skeptical in all the In Brad We Trust sentiment.

Vuc was a useless traffic cone that should have never step foot in a 2026 Celtics post season game. He was a net negative to the energy and that’s where my beef starts. Which by the way oh right I forgot how much I hated Mazulla after that

All of the potential this team had even with Tatum gone and the team blown up, there was so magic remaining and what do we get?

Sports malpractice.

Now I know how the mavs felt.

Edit: just sharing, my favorite moment of this season was when JB out SGA’d SGA in that pump fake and gave that mischievous smile. How the fuck did you let that man go

Discussion Everyone jerking themselves off about how great of a genius Brad is for the last decade and then immediately turning on him after one trade is one of the most embarrassing things I've ever seen in sports

The flip on Brad after one single trade is one of the most hilariously pathetic things I've ever seen a fanbase do. Words can not express how stupid I think all of you are who did this. You can not like the trade, but going to Brad is a genius to fire Brad without even giving yourselves a little bit of time to think about why the trade might happened or at least try and see it from a different perspective is genuinely laughable and you should all be ashamed and never post again.

Discussion If I’m GM I am not moving Brown for anything available.

If I’m the GM Jaylen Brown is untouchable. As business investment, player and personality.

I am not trading JB for anything less than Darryn Peterson and Lauri and sensabaugh and picks.

Giannis is 31 and gets hurt dog. the celtics literally beat bucks when we had a horford level defender. edit: (this is a good point) horford was elite

luka was traded for ad and a pick then cooper goes to mavs. the league $$ balloons up in 2016 and u get KD on warriors. it shrinks down and now we have to trade Jrue and KP. the league is a financial entertainment company.

if i’m gm i keep my homegrown star who’s become a leading fixture in the community,

you beat wemby and other teams through fit, intelligence, defense and cohesion.

this is not marcus smart late game threes. this is not rob will always hurt. this is the success of the 2013 nets trade and the reason we have a chip and multiple ECF

he’d be bigger star by now if he wasn’t the 6th option behind kyrie kemba and hayward .

Discussion Why are you calling for Joe Mazz to get fired instead of admitting that this roster isn’t that good?

1.0k Upvotes

His system is the only reason this team was successful in the regular season. Are you really sitting at home thinking Baylor, Walsh, Hugo, and Harper would be anything more than fringe rotation players on any other team in the league? Queta is a backup center. White has a career low shooting season. Pritchard is a Ty Jerome caliber player. They traded Simons for Vuc to save money. Tatum wasn’t available for the end of game 6 and 7. Talent wise, this team that lost game 7 should have been in the play-in duking it out with Charlotte.

If you’re being entirely honest with yourself, the sixers had 4 of the best 5 player on the court once Tatum got injured. 1. Embiid 2. Maxey 3. Brown 4. PG 5. Edgecomb. I’m sorry that you’re hurting, but your coach is one of the best in the league and it’s ridiculous and petulant to think he should be fired.

Discussion We’re trading for Nikola Jokic, remember this post

Brad didn’t trade Jaylen just to make some babyshit move like going after Trey Murphy or whatever. He’s going to go big game hunting.

Paul George and Nikola Jokic have basically the same contract. 1 guaranteed year left and then a player option for ~$60m. Their contracts match up financially and length wise.

Jokic has been eligible to sign his contract extension all offseason but hasn’t. Why? Because he’s waiting to see if the Nuggets can put a decent roster together around him. Instead, they lost Valancunas and Tim Hardaway Jr, and are gonna salary dump Cam Johnson so they can resign Payton Watson. They’re gonna be worse than the team that lost in the first round last season.

Jokic is gonna ask out next summer and we’re gonna be right there with a $60m expiring contract and 6 first rounders to capitalize on it.

Discussion This Brad Stevens press conference is the most mad I've heard him since 2023

1.1k Upvotes

Him referencing being 3-11 vs the top 3 seeds in each conference. Needing more points at the rim. Not generating enough good looks.

You can tell he's VERY unhappy with how things ended. He's not going to be complacent, big changes might be coming.

Discussion Losing Game 7 might genuinely be the most humiliating moment in franchise history

Blowing a 3-1 lead to your most hated rivals, losing game 7 on your home floor, in a 2v7 match up where their best player didn't even play half the series.

Genuinely, this would be the most embarassing moment in Celtics history. If that isn't enough motivation for these guys to blow them out by 30 in G7 idk what is

Discussion PR gotta get a hold on Jaylen Brown

FIrstly i love JB and him getting traded would hurt my soul, that being said, the dudes on a roll saying some crazy shit.

  1. Calling Embiid a flopper after blowing a 3-1 lead
  2. Claiming the refs have an alleged agenda against him and calling for them to be investigated
  3. Claiming this was his favourite season of his career, genuinely could be true but he did win fmvp in 24 so an odd statement
  4. making indirect jabs at joes rotation

This is the type of stuff that can destroy a locker room. Jb please put the mic down bruh.

Discussion Mavs GM Nico Harrison needs to be investigated immediately

2.1k Upvotes
  • Traded Luka Doncic, one of the best players in the world, the man who dragged their team to the Finals just MONTHS ago, for an aging Anthony Davis and ONE first round pick.
  • Mavs approached the Lakers first.
  • Traded Doncic due to "conditioning" as if that's not something you can fix in an offseason.

Something shady is going on. You just don't trade away generational talent like that for a box of scraps. Rudy Gobert and Miles Bridges had a bigger haul.
