Physician Responded I really need your thoughts on this

The patient is 88 years old, female, doesnt have diabetes or other health problem except this one. She got diagnosed with cancer tumor on the right foot.

The doctor told us recently that her foot needs to be amputated, stating that there are no other viable medical alternatives left for her condition. Hearing this was devastating for our family, and before moving forward with such a life-altering surgery, we desperately want to know if there could be any other possible solutions,, or alternatives we might have missed. Has anyone faced a similar diagnosis or consulted specialists who found another way? Any insights, experiences, or questions we should ask before making this final decision would mean the world to us.

Here is what the scan result says:

CT SCAN OF THE RIGHT FOOT

INDICATION:

Plantar amelanotic melanoma.

TECHNIQUE:

Volumetric helical scan in thin slices with multiplanar reconstructions, performed without and with contrast injection.

RESULTS:

Cutaneous and subcutaneous soft-tissue mass on the plantar surface of the forefoot, budding and lobulated, with soft-tissue enhancement after contrast injection.

It measures 65 × 20 mm, extending over 55 mm.

It locally invades the plantar fascia, reaching contact with the short flexor tendons, without being able to confirm their invasion.

Absence of detectable bone destruction adjacent to the lesion.

CONCLUSION:

Plantar soft-tissue mass of tumoral origin (previously known), with deep extension into the plantar fascia and contact with the short flexor tendons, without being able to confirm their invasion.

No bone involvement.

Physician Responded My 4 month old baby sister ate some of my food. She now won't stop crying and I don't know what is wrong with her

She is about 20 weeks old and female. She has cystic fibrosis, and she has pancreatic insufficiency, which is being treated with pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy. She also has vitamins. Last time, she weighed about 5.5 kilograms and was about 60 centimetres long.

About 10 minutes ago, she ate some of what I was eating. It was yoghurt with berries and apple in it, which were cooked, and oats. It was my fault, I had her sitting next to me because she cries when she feels left out, and then when I had left the room, she been picking it up with her hand and putting it in her mouth.

I stopped her when I saw and then after that, she started crying. She seems to be breathing normally, I was worried she might be choking but it was all soft food so I don't think she is, but she won't stop crying, and I don't know what to do. I don't know if she's just upset by it, or if there's something wrong, but I'm really worried because I didn't mean for it to happen.

Hi, last night I had a big heart episode like I usually do, it went from 136 laying down to 197 in the ambulance, they did blood tests and say my D-Dimer was 1,672, they did a CT on my lungs and heart and said there was no blood clot and sent me on my way, I went back this morning very anxious as I was told by my friend that it could be somewheres else like my legs or brain, I was paranoid they missed something and convinced myself I had a blood clot in my brain (I have health anxiety since my mother died.) which it also caused an addiction to oxycodone from December to last month, (my heart issues started in June 2025) and I told the doctors about me struggling with it due to my mother killing herself, the next visit they acted like I was a paranoid drug addict looking for drugs.. there’s no reason for my heart rate to be ranging from 120-190 jumping down to 40bpm at some points and jumping to 120bpm instantly, I don’t know how they can look at that data and be like yeah that’s you being paranoid and faking it. My glucose was at 135 as well, was I in the right for going back to the hospital or was I being paranoid..? (EDIT, when I went back it was at 157 and the woman denied further testing and claimed I was okay to go home) (EDIT I’m also a girl lol I left that one out on accident)

Physician Responded safe to monitor at home, or go to emerg?

Please no guilt - I feel horrendously guilty enough already

10 months, boy, 20 pounds, no he doesn’t smoke lol :)

Baby is just shy of 11 months old. He took a tumble off the arm of the couch and landed on his forehead. I was a second away from being able to catch him and I feel fucking awful

He cried for 3-5 minutes as was expected, he was consolable, this happened about 15-20 mins ago and he’s acting normal now - playing, smiling, standing. No vomiting when it happened or after. He just has this bump on his head that’s slightly raised. One nostril and his eye on that side are a bit red

Due to the bump, is it best to get him assessed? Or is it okay to stay home and monitor him here? Should I try to apply a cold pack or is that futile with a squirmy baby who probably wouldn’t even let me

Thank you in advance 🥺

Physician Responded Going insane. My (4f) daughter has been throwing up 10-30 times daily since 08/08/2026 (small to now larger volumes.

Post image
146 Upvotes

My (4f) daughter is 42 inches and 62 lbs (she started august at 69lbs). Yes, she is tall for her age and her weight is in the upper bmi. I have attached test results I have been given access to. Please help. Her doctor and myself are going a bit crazy. I will try and explain this as concisely as possible. Will note here this is not an “emergency” as we are under the care of her pediatrician, have been to er, have a ped GI and are staying hydrated. Not an “emergency” but very much a detriment to my kids quality of life.

Her ana was extremely high then the next negative. ANA: 5.8 — POSITIVE/HIGH Later ANA multiplex (9/29/26): NEGATIVE

  1. 08/01/2026 We will call her Jo (4f), Jo had a bad cold. Managed with rest and home care. 08/03/2026 Joe started to vomit. I assumed the cause was mucus from her drainage. 08/06/2026 the vomiting progressed until she could not even hold a sip of water. Took her to urgent care.
  2. 08/06/2026 Urgent care diagnosed fairly severe constipation. Recommended a clean out protocol (miralax, senecot and a glycerin suppository). This worked a bit and she passed some stool. She did not lessen volume or frequency of vomiting (at least twice and hour). Took Jo to ER. They did reveal exam. Still had some poop. Doubled miralax. Between that and the physician exam she emptied her bowled over the next few days.

  3. This is the next phase. around 08/12/2026 the constant commuting ceased. She could drink miralax mix with juice, pedlite and water without vomiting. However, any solid food including apple sauce, she began to vomit 1-4 times after consuming. Usually within 10-20 mins the first bite but always within 1 hour of food. This pattern has been going on from 08/12/2026 until yesterday 10/04/2026. That is when the small easy, gently non retching vomiting turned to, I don’t know how else to explain but like the exorcist style vomit. Just spewing forceful liquid and undigested and some digested food from her mouth. Like a comedic scary movie.

Before this, the vomiting was gently. No wrenching. Almost like baby spit up but just a bit more forceful, and more volume. She would often just hold it in her cheeks and make her way to the trash/toilet.

over the last week she’s had a harder time making it to her vomit bags, the trash, the toilet and it just comes out. I can not express how gentle the vommiting, until yesterday had been. The theee doctors who watched her vomit were very intrigued by the gentle vomiting. Like a little butterfly vomit.

She has far less energy and stamina than before. She has to take breaks when playing. Asks us to hold her when walking. She had structural bilateral clubbed feet and that sometimes causes her to be uncomfortable on her feet for a long time. She now complains of tiring and just asks to go lay down for a bit mid playing.

We come from a very small ethnic pool, her bio father and I. We both experienced pedigree collapse in our family tree. Family history is a novel but I have info on all first, and second degree relatives.

Her half brother, paternal, brother has soemthing similar to Osteopetrosis we only found out was not that once his genome was researched. It’s closer to Craniotubular dysplasia, Ikegawa type (CTDI), associated with pathogenic variants in the TMEM53 gene. That’s the ultra-rare sclerosing bone disorder that seemed to fit his progressive skull/skull-base bone overgrowth and optic-nerve problems.

Jo shares similar apparent phenotypes (small nose, large head, “thicker” bones”) and we are seeing a geneticist next year (first available). To rule out any emergent or immediate concerns about skull growth, she seen an eye doctor and did a more invasive test to test pressure and see being eye etc. Beyond a minor vision concern not needing glasses, the eye doc said she’s fine in that respect.

A note here, she has failed hearing test, twice. Then a few weeks later passed it. The auto hearing test nothing to do with her actual input.

Mostly because she dealt with doctors weekly and casts and boots and bars from basically birth, she is very shy of complaining of ANY ailment or pain. When she says she is in pain, it’s most likely understated. She has the constitution of a 72 yo farmer from the midwest.

many, many tests have been ordered. Blood tests. So far, common food allergies ruled out. Alpha gal ruled out. Diabetes still possible, but not likely as of the results.

Her thryoid is not “healthy”. I have a history of puberty onset hypothyroid after undiagnosed graves growing up. As far as I am aware the only juvenile thryoid issues would be the child of her fathers first cousin. But, that child, would be quadruple related (pedigree collapse) in varying degrees.

Another note, her paternal line has an issue they overproduce calcium. Her father and first degree relatives often have calcium stones in body and brain.

Before this she was very healthy, average active level, she’s a sassy kid, but nothing clinical or developmentally that either I nor her doctor has caught. She has been extremely moody the last month (which I get she’s sick of puking). The only cognitive even possible issue, she’s never been able to put her own shirt on. Never could manage her arms correctly. Is that coordination or another issue i’m not sure.

She has a mild speech impediment we are going to seek therapy for once she turns 5 late winter. She had a tongue tie we fixed the first few months. That surgeon recommended waiting and seeing if therapy could help instead of cutting or performing a more invasive surgery on the “posterior” tongue tie.

She was born 4 weeks early and weighed a few ounces shy of 9lbs (won’t post exact it be very easy to identify her there was a cute write up about her locally). She had no real issues due to that. She pneumonia early on and flu b around 8 months which was severe and resulted in a week hospital stay (right after her double achilles surgery).

Beyond this and the clubbed feet, she has no other known medical issues. No allergies to medicine or food. Very little seasonal allergies or sinus. She is generally very very healthy and doesn’t usually catch virus or even the cold often.

She was a late potty trainer. But is fully potty trained. Does not wet the bed at all and has not since about 6 months into losing the pull up ( a year ago).

She is hungry right after she pukes. Vomit. “Mommy can I have an apple”.

We’ve done the food exclusion thing. No dairy two weeks. No wheat two weeks. No change. And blood test ruled out celiac. No foods affect the volume or frequency. She will vomit just as quickly and just as much if she eats a cracker as she will if she eats pizza.

Please let me know anything to tell her doctors. She has a wonderful, hands on ped doctor. Her doc is also stumped. Every doc is stumped we have seen so far.

The GI doctor working diagnosis is gatropresis. As of now, two weeks into the newest med erythromycin, nothing much improved. For about a day she did go three hours without vomiting (about a week into this treatment). Now she is vomiting the same frequency. And since yesterday this water spew demon type thing.

The extremely elevated first ana followed but the negative secondary test, contradictory are also a big road block stumping her docs.

No otc the meds have helped any No prescription anti nausea meds have helped at all

Physician Responded Skin problems

Post image
71 Upvotes

I am 22 years old. I am 50 kg.

Hi! Thanks for reading through this. I'm a 22 year old girl who has had skin problems for quite a while now.

It all started when I was a kid, maybe 12 years old and I got an itchy pimple/blister on the back of my right knee. Sometimes it would come and go. At some point, it completely left but when I was about 16 I started getting rashes on my chest during the winter time. Then, after a stressful period in my life, I started getting worse rashes again in winter 2022 (when I was 18) and since two years, I've always had horrible rashes. They itch, they burn, I can't sleep because I scratch them. I put cortison cream on them but it doesn't seem to help the inflammation, I take antihistamines but nothing happens. I took higher levels fo vitamin d, quercitin, curcumin with pepper but my inflammation levels were still so high. I went to the dermatologist five years ago to do a prick test and the woman gave me a ton of allergies. A list of them: nickel, abietic acid, propylene glycol, lanolin, p-tert-Butylphenol formaldehyde resin, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Colophony, cat hair and a bunge of different types of pollen from grasses and trees in Switzerland. Please note that it's incredibily hard to avoid all of these chemicals and components in my everyday life. I switched to shampoos, soaps that I can use and that are natural but the rashes still come. This winter has been the worst it ever has. I got it on my chest, my neck, my scalp(

leading to impetigo) and armpits.

During the summer time, the rashes get milder and usually even almost go completely away. As soon as late autumn kicks in, my rashes come back. I even get anxious for that time to arrive because I start sleeping less and my rashes stay from like November- June. Even when they seem to go away for a few days, they come back after a few days. I'm not diagnosed with any mental disorder, but I am a very anxious person and tend to put myself under a lot of pressure.

I eat gluten free since I'm 10 (my mom stopped giving it to me without going to the doctor) because I was wheezing every time I went to bed and my asthma got really bad. Even though I try to avoid gluten, I still get very bloated every now and then and end up looking pregnant and having belly pain and lots of gas.

I used to take birth control from like 16 until 19 and my rashes were not as bad as they are now.

Please help me figure out what I can do. I get so tired and anxious during those months.

I live in Switzerland but am originally from Spain. There's not a lot of sunlight during the winter here. I study at unviersity so I can't just travel to a sunnier country to avoid a problem like this. I have duties like studying, going to classes and working part time.

What does it look like? What can I do?

Thanks already.

Physician Responded 4 y/o female smelly armpits

My daughter is 4f with no diagnosis or concerns.

I’m currently pregnant so my senses are heightened. I mean this in the nicest way possible (she’s my whole world) but lord I’m thinking I can’t be that far off when I say she smells like a middleschool locker room. She showers every night, it’s rare we skip a night. Clothes are washed after 1 use.

I wouldn’t say it’s out of control, but I wouldn’t say it’s normal either. She was hugging me earlier tonight and I actually thought to swipe my own deodorant on her (but did not).

Anyway… Is this worth scheduling an appointment at the pediatrician for? I haven’t noticed any other signs of puberty and the moment, but I don’t want to get too comfortable then regret not getting her checked later.

If this has ANY relevance, her paternal grandmother has always had issues with her armpits b.o. being too strong for standard deodorant. She’s open about it, so I’m not trying to be rude by pointing it out. Just not sure if that’s something that could be happening to my daughter.

Advice please?

Physician Responded 18F - how do I fix this? 💔

Post image
810 Upvotes

I know it’s my fault but these are quite literally the bane of my existence and bring me so much shame. These are about a year old at this point and they have improved but not as much as I would like. If you look closely the scars used to be longer but became white as time passed, is it possible for the whole thing to become white and fade away? How long will this take?

I’ve tried applying products from shoppers drug mart like mederma, vitamin C, tretinoin, silicone strips, etc. What else can be done? I asked an actual doctor irl and she just shrugged and said, “maybe a skin graft” but I feel like that might make my arm look worse? And it’s so invasive. Is this something that is reasonable for me to pursue?

Please if anyone knows how to fix this please help me, thank you! 🥲

Physician Responded What “45° angle” means for an injection?

Post image
51 Upvotes

44F. I push the injection while my mom is standing.

I’m saying that when someone says an injection is given at 45°, I’m thinking of the needle being tilted 45° upward from the skin/surface. Like vertical.

My dad thinks it as 45° relative to the sideways/horizontal direction.

Basically, we're picturing the same 45° angle differently. Which one is correct?

Physician Responded Is this a bother to you guys?

For the post requirement- 22F although i am not sure if that is pertinent info for my question haha.

I came across a post from the hospitalist subreddit which is for people who work at a hospital i assume? The op asked what is something patients do that you know is going to make them a “problematic patient”. I was curious and wanted to know if there was something i could improve on for myself to ease healthcare workers stress. A lot of the answers were things like dyed hair, multiple allergies, being a women ages 16-40, having a hyphenated name, bringing a family member as an adult, wearing pajamas and bringing stuffed animals.

To preface i have an anxiety disorder, needle phobia, and IBS D and C. When i have to go to the hospital, which is rare, i typically wear my soft pajamas and bring a stuffed animal since whenever i go there is bound to be needles. It gives my other hand something to fidget with and brings me comfort. My mom is also with me since i cant drive that far and also have a tendency to be faint, even after all is said and done. Someone in the comments said they do the same things. They were downvoted a lot, told they were crazy, and told to “sybau” which means shut your bitch ass up :( i was unaware that these things are a problem

One of the answers that confused me as well was “asking to lie down and have a cool towel during iv’s.” I unfortunately faint if i am not laying down with ivs. I wasn’t aware that asking for this makes me a problem patient. Should i stop asking for those things? Does it make you guys uncomfortable when i wear comfy clothes and bring a small stuffed animal or ask to lie down for needles? I don’t want to make medical professionals uncomfortable or to make their job difficult or be a bother. Thanks for any responses :)

Excruciating Cramps (27F)

I fully trust doctors but I can't lie and say I'm not frustrated by my experience regarding my period cramps.

I've had excruciating cramps since my first period when I was 12, and missed school frequently because of it. I was on birth control in high school (sprintec) to help alleviate my cramps, but it did nothing. During that time I also got frequent aura migraines so I now know estrogen based birth control is not for me.

I had a bilateral salpingectomy and asked them to look for signs of endometriosis, none were found. I gave up trying to find an answer for a few years and then decided with new insurance this year I would try again.

I had a pap smear done and after explaining my painful periods I was referred for my first transvaginal ultrasound. No major findings: Uterine dimensions 4.1 x 5.4 x 7.1 cm. Endometrial thickness 17.44 mm. 2 x 1.8 x 1.4 cm anechoic simple right ovarian cyst. Right ovary measures 2.6 x 3.4 x 3.4 cm. Left ovary measures 1.7 x 2 x 3.1 cm.

The doctor that ordered the transvaginal ultrasound said she would refer me to an obgyn who could hopefully order an mri (I think that's what it was? or maybe a different type of ultrasound). I go to the obgyn and she said that test is unnecesary and that some women like me just have painful periods...I felt very trigerred because deep down I can't accept that what I have been dealing with is normal. I even told her on a scale of 1-10 I've been at a 9 once before and genuinely believed I was about to pass out and told my dad to lay next to me incase I do, and I was 20 years old. I have taken so much ibuprofen in the past to the point where I worry it is damaging me.

Right now, I have taken 1200 mg of ibuprofen (prescribed) and the max it says I should take is 1800 mg total but I have to wait six hours for my next dose and I am in so much pain right now. Is this seriously normal for some women?

Brain tumor symptoms + how to alleviate

Hello, I’m 18 years old and female. I weigh 135 pounds and am about 5’2. About 3 days ago I got my MRI scan back confirming I have a 10 mm tumor located on my pituitary gland, likely causing some of these symptoms. For around 4 months I’ve started getting symptoms like super intense stomach cramps and migranes, and they have gotten TERRIBLE within the last 4-5 days.

I have some other symptoms too like anhedonia, foggy memory, depressive episodes, and intrusive thoughts. Though, I’m not sure if any of these are fixable/treatable.

I’ve taken so much advil, ibuprofen, all that, and it works for maybe 20 minutes then fades. The pain is like stabbing into one concentrated spot in the middle of my head, and my stomach just has really painful cramping.

I’m wondering if anyone that had experience with these symptoms has any better recommendations? Preferably with the migraines, as they’re so bad I can only study for like 20 minutes at a time before I get aura in the corners of my eyes and can no longer see.

I know these symptoms aren’t really an urgent medical issue, so I apologize if this isn’t where I should’ve posted this. But, these symptoms are 100% significantly impacting my quality of life. I just started university, and I have been doing terrible on my exams and assignments because I’m always in pain. No excuse of course, but I really want to do good in my freshman year because I know it gets harder and I want to apply to PA school.

Any advice is appreciated 😊

Physician Responded Pus pocket on my leg has drastically increased in size within the last couple of hours.

Post image

I’m 34, male, live in the UK. I have been on antibiotics for the last few days due to an infection on my leg. Over the last couple of hours, the pus pocket has drastically increased in size from a few mm to about an inch across and is soft and spongy.

I’ve been told over the phone to speak to my GP within the next 24 hours, that’s not possible for the next 9-10 hours minimum due to the time, so just wanted to get a second opinion as it’s been quite a surprise with how quickly it’s changed.

Physician Responded Painful broken skin in my butt crack... NSFW

Post image
44 Upvotes

30 female, 5ft7 175 lbs

Currently taking 75mg zoloft 300 mg wellbutrin and 4mg prazosin

This has happened to me a few times. I haven't been able to trace a root cause yet. Its painful, broken skin that starts as slight irritation in my butt crack. I normally wear thong underwear but when I get this irritation I cant because it hurts. Thongs are my every day wear and this is so infrequent (maybe 2 or 3x a year) I cant imagine that's the cause. Its slightly itchy, very uncomfortable and as it gets worse it starts to blister. I have tried a and d ointment, thats what I have on it now. I just dont understand why this is happening. If anyone has any insight as to how to prevent it I would be grateful. As of now im just treating it as an open wound (keeping it clean, ointment, and was able to cover it with a bandaid to keep underwear from rubbing)

2nd time getting fungal infection!

17F, 5’8, 140lbs, pre-diabetic, Crohn’s disease

I got a fungal infection awhile ago and it came back a couple days ago after a few months of it being gone. We don’t have medical insurance so I haven’t been able to go to the doctor however, when I got it the first time my mom made me a virtual doctor appointment and the doctor told me it was a fungal infection gave me cream for it and she told me to keep a bandage on it and it kept leaking this like yellow dried crust on the bandage. I got rid of my current deodorant, threw away my shavers and washed everything. Why is this coming backkkk :(

Physician Responded Very low oxygen

27 year old female, 5’5 and 315lbs. Not a smoker. Diagnosed with depression, anxiety, obstructive sleep apnea, hEDS, and potential MCAS (testing is very hard for it). Currently taking omeprazole, losartan, duloxetine, famotidine and Zyrtec.
Two nights ago I went to the hospital because I could not sleep due to severe nerve pain on the whole left side of my body. It was a terrible burning sensation that was also causing me to itch. Enough that it was also making me nauseous. During my stay at the hospital I was laying almost flat in the hospital bed and noticed my oxygen kept dipping down to 92. I had them sit me up, and then it was back up to 96. I asked the nurse about it, he said it was nothing. Later on I was given a combo of diphenhydrAMINE, droPERidol, and ketorolac. After taking it I fell asleep. I woke up to my monitor going off and the nurse telling me to take a deep breath. My mom said my oxygen dipped to 77. My mom mentioned to the new nurse that I had sleep apnea. She said that’s probably the cause and then put me on oxygen and left. (It did go back up). Am I overreacting or is this something I should be taking more seriously than just my sleep apnea? I do struggle with health anxiety, so it’s hard for me to decipher sometimes. Plus the hospital in my town doesn’t have a good track record to begin with, so it’s hard to trust their judgement.

Unexplained fatigue lasting for 3 weeks

• Upvotes

24 years old, 1m72, 66kg, caucasian male from France. I drink occasionally, never smoke or use drugs. I do strength training three times a week (have been for 3 years) and walk around 10k steps a day. No prior health issues. Vaccines are up to date (until next year).

Three weeks ago I started a creatine formula with creatine, rhodiola and glucosamine. I unknowingly doubled the daily dose for a week (which would be 6 g creatine monohydrate, 200 mg rhodiola extract and 2.24 g glucosamine sulfate). I don't know if this is the trigger but my symptoms appeared very close to my first intake.

First, I had some pain around stomach, ribs, and back, not at the same time and rotating (which usually happens when I'm sleep deprived so it didn't alarm me much). Then a few days in taking the formula, I felt strong fatigue (like you'd feel in a hangover) from the morning. I went to my physician. No fever, no blood pressure anomalies, no breathing problems, no heart rate anomalies, no nausea, no vomiting. She told my to stop the creatine for a while.

I did and it resolved. Then a week later, it flared up again, mostly the same pain for a few days then resolved.

Last episode is currently still happening. Exactly one week ago, I did my resistance training as usual at max intensity (no issues felt during the session except a short abdominal cramp). The day after, I felt down, the same fatigue I had before : mental fog, a weird malaise feeling, like I slept 2 hours. It has been stable until today included.

In the morning and the evening, I feel down, I feel like something is wrong but I can't really explain what, it usually comes with a headache. In the morning, once I eat, get dressed and take a coffee, it mostly goes away until the evening. The same pain around ribs, stomach, back and abs also happens during those episodes though it's the fatigue I'm worried about. When I'm working or am focused on something, I don't think about it. I have been sleeping more than usual because said fatigue ironically helps me going to sleep earlier.

A few days after the start of this episode, I went back to my physician. She prescribed Magnesium, Vitamin B2, Vitamin D which I have been taking for a few days without much perceived effects. I also had bloodwork done.

I had the results yesterday : CBC, renal function, fasting glucose, liver enzymes, CK, electrolytes/calcium, thyroid function and lipid profile were checked and were essentially normal apart from mildly elevated cholesterol (2.28 g/L). STI serologies were also negative.

I also tested myself for COVID with an antigen test which was negative. I have an appointment with my physician in two days, but with no clear explanations and no real improvement (with no worsening however), my anxiety is rising and I'm looking for answers.

I can’t remember a time I didn’t think about wanting to die and the thoughts are so overwhelming and nothings helping. I’ve been in therapy for a long time and feel like I’m only getting worse. I’ve tried multiple antidepressants but my doctor wont try anything else anymore. The biggest setback I face is that “I’m young“ and since I’m young it must be something other than a mental health thing. I keep getting bl oodwork done but I don’t think my symptoms are being managed nothing ever comes from the bloodwork. I feel like I don’t feel anything at all. my thoughts are so graphic and they have to play out from start to finish and I imagine myself dying by my own hands in every single way. I don’t know what to do. there’s got to be a better way. I hate how scared I am from my own thoughts. I’m having issues with eating now too. I stopped taking my vyvanse because I felt like it wa s making thing worse.

i have tried

fluoxetine

sertraline

citalopram

mirtazipine

nortriptyline

venlafaxine

Physician Responded Phantom smells for 5 years

I (19m) have been having random smells that stick with me for anywhere from a day to weeks.

It started when I was about 14, I had gotten Covid and completely lost my smell for months. The only thing I could smell after, was some kind of weird smell, it kinda reminds me of cigarettes a little but it also has some other scents mixed in that I can’t exactly name.

There’s two main ones that have been consistent over the years but occasionally I’ll get a new scent that sticks with me.

I had thought it was me or my breath or something but even if I shower or brush my teeth the scent still stays. I ask people around me if they smell it and they always say no.

There was one or two times that it even caused a slight migraine and nausea but that hasn’t happened in years. I had used a new soap that was like lavender or something but it smelled terrible and stuck with me the whole day. I couldn’t get it out of my nose.

I got some cologne recently and tried it on, it smelled nice until a couple of days ago when I put it on, all I could smell was cigarettes and it’s been a week now and throughout the day it randomly pops up. I feel like it gets stronger the more I think about it but when I ignore it or I’m focused on something else it goes away.

It doesn’t happen as often now but I was wondering if this is something concerning or not.

Physician Responded Is this a cold sore on my one year olds (1F) lip?

I am freaking out a bit so please don’t mind if I’m everywhere explaining this.

I have a history of getting cold sores randomly (haven’t had one in over a year) and have been strictly avoiding kissing my baby anywhere close to her mouth to keep her safe. Yesterday my husband and I noticed a red blotch under her lip that was bleeding.

Some info, she has been teething HARD recently and drools a lot as well as biting her bottom lip so I’m hoping it’s just a small cut from biting her lip and not a cold sore😭. I’ve been checking to see if she has a fever but nothing yet (thankfully!). She also got her 12 month vaccines last week on rhe 29th so I don’t think I’ll be able to distinguish what’s a fever from that vs this in the event it is a cold sore.

It went red blotch, bleeding cut in a line to this within a day. I haven’t noticed any puss filled clusters of pimples or anything that I would get when I got a cold sore in the past but I’m also not a baby so I’m not sure if it presents differently with them.

I’m about to apply some Vaseline and try to keep it dry as well as avoid any foods with citrus to not aggravate it but I’m not sure if I should be doing anything else? I’m spiraling a bit if it is a cold sore and I gave it to her😭.
