DISCUSS FUTURE Arma 4

Why remove the most beloved features like workshop and editor just to appease console players? Does The leadership hate their fanbase of 15+ years that much? I hope the devs don’t act shocked when it inevitably flops and is DOA

BI can't take out features that have never existed in Enfusion. These features are lacking because they haven't created them yet.

BI never said they weren't going to have them, they have only said they probably wouldn't be able to get them in before launch day.

It was confirmed that there would be no workshop support. That, and it's Cold War setting is splitting the fan base.

Arma without an editor (and I am not talking that shit that Reforger has) is not Arma.

Cool, so more uncompleted slop.

Did you want A4 in 2027 or 2037?

Even with all the money made, investment from Tencent, the increased size of the development team, and the combined experience and skill of those developers -- we can't expect a complete Arma title to release in 2027? After how many years of development? Over half a decade? Insane.

In all fairness, we technically have never had a complete Arma release at launch besides maybe the first one.

Fair point. We also haven't ever had an Arma title that is effectively a beta for the next main installment in the series, either.

I mean, ArmA3 got released as an Alpha back in the days. Today we‘d call that early access. Even the main campaign came split into three pieces following the full version release

Arma 3 had an alpha release AND was one of the very first Steam Early Access Program participants.

You could consider Reforger to be an A4 pre-alpha. BI intends to send A4 into Early Access prior to release as has become their custom since 2013. I would guess Early Access in 2027 is far more likely than official release next year.

I know, and that was over 13 years ago. Like I said in my earlier comment, BI has far more funding, far more developers, and far more experience now. It shouldn't be crazy to expect that the launch of Arma 4 should be far more content rich, and bug free, compared to Arma 3's, especially since we are heading into year 5 of Reforger being the "testbed" for Arma 4.

I prefer a complete game not a mess

These people obviously don't remember the Arma 3 launch

That’s a comparison so outdated it borders on bad faith.

In 2013 BI was a relatively small studio solidly in the indie or AA category.

In 2026 they’re backed by large institutional investors and have hundreds of developers spread out over multiple countries.

Arma 3 launching in the state it was in is justified due to a lack of resources, but nowadays it would be a AAA studio releasing an unfinished product and saying they’ll develop it on the back end.

Arma without editor is not Arma, stop trying to cover devs in every post.
