Took the headset off and this fucking earwig came out.

Last Friday I placed a big Uber Eats order from a Japanese sushi and hibachi place. The total was $160.11. They accepted it while they were still open. Then nothing happened. Hours went by and no courier was ever assigned. I had a tip on it. It did not matter. Nobody took the order.

By 11:18 PM the restaurant was closed, so I canceled. There was no driver, nothing had been picked up, and the food was not coming. The place was shut. Workers were not going to stay open all night waiting on a courier who had never even been assigned. What was Uber’s plan, leave it sitting until morning and deliver it then? It was late and we had no way to cook, so I ordered from DoorDash instead.

After the fact, Uber told me I should not have canceled the order. How does that change anything? Canceling seemed like common sense at the time. The restaurant was closed and I had to order from somewhere else, so why wouldn’t my first instinct be to cancel? Sorry I didn’t read the Uber Eats bible and realize this relatively esoteric rule that you can’t cancel even if the order literally cannot be delivered.

I got nothing. Uber charged me the full $160.11 anyway. Support looked at it and said the charge is non-refundable. Final decision. I paid $160 for an order their own service could not deliver, canceled only after the restaurant had already closed, then paid DoorDash for the food we actually ate. That should not be on me.

I paid with a SoFi debit card, which is notoriously hard to dispute charges on. If Uber does not fix this I am still going to try, so I already know that route exists. I also plan to file a complaint with the BBB if this stays unresolved.

I was just about done cleaning the kitchen when I opened the refrigerator and these cat treats spilled everywhere. They were on the top of the refrigerator, half on the door. I’ll be finding them for months to come.

I literally drove this car thousands of miles.. the moment I left for this road trip I just heard plastic breaking. Didn't think about it until I heard it again and looked back at my literal bumper flying off my car. It slid to the emergency lane thankfully but I literally had to get on an exit 5 miles up, go on the opposite side for 6 miles then go on this highway away to get my bumper. It ripped off a sensor also and now my car just yells at me to check the sensor when I reverse.

Fun trip..

Got pulled over at 1 AM because of this. Was I not supposed to panic?? Like how does one stay calm, asking for a friend.

Distressing morning, after needing to put my cat of 16 years to sleep, went to head out again to return a faulty item to a store. Forgot my boot was open, backed into garage wall and bent the corner of the boot.

No longer a mint car and haven't even had my first fortnightly payment.

Aside from the fever, night sweats and congestion, I now have a chest cough that makes me feel like I’ve been a 2 pack a day smoker for the last 20 years. Chances of recovery for the event are looking very slim indeed.

Everyone else i know who was also signed up to the marathon is also sick as a dog, so there is some comfort in shared suffering. It’s been an oddly brutal flu season in Australia.

Over 1,200 acres, no containment. Will probably burn for days.
I have enough doses to last me through the week so hopefully I can snag a coupon by then otherwise I’ll just suck it up and pay.

I have a go to Asian place Restaurant I get some protein dishes and a big box of COOKED bok choy every other week or so for some quick and easy work lunch days. Today was the third day I'd eaten the bok choy as a filler side and I noticed in the garlicky juice a little friggin worm.. I started looking more closely and there was..at least 4. The others being much smaller than the example above. I think it's called a cabbage worm and if it's not I don't think I want to know what else it is..I'm ok.. honestly barely even grossed out and mostly thankful it wasn't an actual gross bug or maggot or whatever..

EDITED: y'all! the bok choy is a cooked dish..it's in a broth with garlic..think like a soup but just a little broth and all bok choy..it's good stuff.

Mind you this happened when I was laying in my bed, alone, in complete darkness last night. And this week has already sucked and now I have to pay for a new fckn window. 😭

1st of october and the demons are trying me yall

This pair caught my eye immediately, as it pairs perfectly with one of my favorite dresses and is exactly my style. The cashier wrapped everything up for me and put everything in a bag, so I thought it was secure. I got home to find out that the second earring in the set was missing. Checked my floor where I opened it and couldn’t find anything. I also checked the bag from the store and found no holes.

I had also been filming a mini thrift “haul” to send to my friends as we often do, which would have shown me opening it to see if both earrings were gone when I pulled it out of the bag. Would’ve saved me ~15 minutes of searching, but I only had the idea to check the video after I deleted it due to low storage on my phone (the video cut out before I could finish recording, so I just deleted the first one).

lovely way to wake up. my cat must’ve broken the window when he jumped on the perch during late night zoomies.

Took my 2024 Sierra in for a routine oil change. A little while later I noticed oil underneath the truck.
Turns out they had installed the wrong drain plug with the wrong thread pitch. Thankfully I caught it before I lost enough oil to cause any damage to the engine, but now I need a new oil pan!

it was in my backpack with a bunch of other things and I put down my bag too hard. sigh. it’s mostly fine but not enough to actively use it still.

update: me and my mom took it to a repair shop, it’ll hopefully be repaired next weekend!
