I find that bigger strawberries don't taste very good most of the time. They're just pumped with water to get bigger. Usually it's the smaller ones that are packed with more natural sweetness and flavour.

Please tell me this doesn't just apply to strawberries.

Its the opposite, a larger phallus has a higher surface area which means more smegma for flavoring

As soon as I saw the unripe side, I knew this tasted like crunchy water with seeds.

There as a strawberry farm near me where this is untrue. But for most grocery store ones, it is

Strawberries don't ripen after harvest, and almost every kind of fresh produce is underripe because it lasts longer and ships better. Frozen strawberries are actually usually fully ripe and actually taste like strawberries... but the delicate flesh means freezing also makes them mushy. Fine for smoothies and baking though.

This is the great thing about those pick yourself places. You can take as much as you need and you can actually choose the ripe strawberries instead of getting underripe, watery ones from the grocery store and in my experience they are either the same price or cheaper.

Yeah, when I was a kid we grew some decent strawberries at home. They were typically no bigger than olives, but they seemed to pack in a lot more flavor than modern supermarket strawberries. Also, I sometimes found wild strawberries while foraging. Perhaps because I always seemed to find them in shady spots, they were even smaller yet also intensely tasty.

Yeah, anytime someone brings out the mutant strawberries, I’ll pass. Throw those out for some rabbits to gnaw on.

True, with this kind of size, it would be good for syrups. Where you add sugar to it. Maybe baking too.

Oh, this is going to be fun. We'll go step by step so that you'll be let in on just how hilarious this is.
Step 1: please define "GMO" for me.

Water berry. Those are the berries as a child you think are better. Darker the berry the sweeter the juice 😉

Cut that thing open and it's probably all white inside and doesn't taste even remotely good.

We used to go these pick your strawberries farms and then year by year the berries got bigger with less and less strawberry flavor, just started tasting like water. That's when we stopped going.

This one needs to be entered in the strawberry festival held every may in Oxnard CA.

Is this GMO?
8
u/Cosmic-Gore 1d ago
No, it's completely natural.
Just like how humans can have conjoined twins, extra limbs or whatever when born. Plants also have this and it's called 'fasciation'.
If you search up Strawberry fasciation you'll get images with exactly the same strawberries and it can be cause by a variety of factors, random mutations, environmental (frost etc..) and actual physical damage to the growing parts

Sure.
But so are all the "regular-looking" produce and ingredients you see at the store.
