Discussion This is a disaster waiting to happen.

The dog isn’t allowed to be around a toddler because he growls at her. I don’t get it. A family dog is supposed to get along with the whole family. Why are the parents concerned about why the dog “doesn’t like her”? What about the child’s safety?

When I was in high school I had a friend who's family member had a pit bull. He was staying with this family member, so when I would go over to hang out I'd see the dog roaming around while his baby cousin crawled around the house. I expressed concern about this and the cousin who owned the dog would just say "He knows better. He knows I'll fuck him up if he tries something." This did not ease my concern at-fucking-all. I called CPS anonymously because that felt like right thing to do. They didn't do shit about it.

One day the dog snapped, bit down on the toddlers head and would NOT. LET. GO. Eventually it did but there was a lot of damage done by the time they were able to pry it off of the baby.

The baby survived but had a looooooong stay in the hospital. I remember visiting her and she had all sorts of tubing coming out of her. Really sad shit.

They tied the dog up to a tree in the backyard, beat it to death and used the body for target practice. I stopped going over there after that.

I've never been able to tell this story before now. Insane shit.

I hope you reported the animal abuse too. Those people sound unworthy to care for a pet rock, nvm an animal or a baby.

Me and two other friends reported it. Not sure what was done about it, if anything. But the child was removed from the home for neglect.

Everyone involved in this scenario is an animal. And clearly the dog learnt (nothing) from the beasts that raised him.

They blamed the dog for their own failure. They should have beaten themselves up for what happened bc it was their fault.

watching you dog lovers defending this baby eating breed is always hilarious

I’m not a dog lover over babies. I think they should have just put the dog down humanely with the vet or shot it to death once with a gun instead of beating it to the death since it was the owners fault. But of course they avoid accountability and blame the dog for doing what it’s bred to do (and buying the dog fully knowing that) instead of themselves even though they had seen the warning signs and been warned.

Blaming the dog when it was the humans were at fault.

What a horrible story, all around.

They were truly fucking awful people.

The dog still bit the child. The dog is also at fault! This is why when CPS was called nothing was done too many dog worshippers, who make excuses.

It should've been put down, not beaten to death.

Training can only do so much. It's still the human's fault for having that dog in the first place.

Generations of being bred for blood sport did, sweetie.

Pointers dogs point, herding dogs herd…

That's only when it comes to picking stocks. Resorting to ad hominem is a sign of low iq so it also serves to identify those people (aka you)

3

u/Xokonoshtletl Aug 25 '26

Wasn't your first comment itself ad hominem?!

You see that you made a full circle with your reasoning, right?

Using aka incorrectly is another great indicator that you're talking to a dimmer bulb, in my experience.

The dog deserves blame because it was 100% at fault

The people were also at fault for not removing it from the childs enviorment beforehand

Two things can be true at once, I know its hard to believe

If a toddler beats up a baby, should they tie the toddler to a tree and beat them to death?

8

u/MsBinglebottoms Aug 25 '26

False equivalency. Pit bulls were/are bred to bite and not let go.

2

u/DaaaahWhoosh Aug 25 '26

If the pitbull was just doing what it was bred to do then it really shouldn't have been at fault. Blame the breeder, blame the people who bought the child-eating dog to a child's home.

The dog bit the child. Fuck it.

u/godddamnit Aug 25 '26

I’m country raised, putting down a violent/sick animal is a part of life, but that involves a single shot. It does not mean ‘tie it to a tree, beat it to death, and use the body for target practice’. That is sociopathic behavior.

10

u/tiqtaktoe Aug 25 '26

Yes like the dog had to be killed but there's just no benefit in torturing it

3

u/Lenascime Aug 25 '26

Yeah absolutely, but if a young person can realise the dog is showing bad signs so should the owner. If my dog ever mauls someone it’s my fault. Animals do what they do it’s up to us to create the environment where such things can’t happen

That being said banning certain breeds would likely be wise

u/CommunistRonSwanson Aug 25 '26

Dog still needed to be destroyed, just not in a cruel fashion.

2

u/DelcoUnited Aug 25 '26

The humans bite the baby?

1

u/pisconz Aug 25 '26

you did what you could to prevent it, well played.
