Food (Only on Friday) Fondant is the best part of a cake

I love fondant. I like it much better than buttercream, marzipan, etc. as cake icing, but I also just like it on its own. Sometimes, I take it off the cake and eat it by itself.

Whenever someone says a fondant cake looks like it tastes amazing, but it's probably just sugary play-doh, I'm like, yeah, and that's why it's so good.

I love when someone has a fondant cake at a party, cause everyone lets me eat their fondant.

u/KeyboardOccupant, there weren't enough votes to determine the quality of your post...

Its just sugar with no flavor. Which makes it the worst part

As someone without a sense of smell. That sound delicious.

I have (almost) no sense of smell and I fuckin’ hate fondant.

Do you like eating straight spoonfulls of white sugar??

(Also /r/FondantHate plug)

Is it possible to say yes without seeming like a freak?

Probably not.

Yes

I mean, fair enough.  No judgement from me.  I respect it.

I also really like fondant lmao. I love that it’s just sugar and I love the consistency of it.

It's good for your coat.

Take my upvote, you ungulate.

Did you also eat play-doh growing up?

u/KeyboardOccupant 2d ago

I swear I didn't lol

Whoa whoa uncalled for.  I sure did, and it was delicious.  But that’s ‘cause playdoh is salty.  Fondant is way worse than playdoh, and I’m offended by the comparison.

You seem like the kind of person that would eat play-doh and call it diet fondant.

Oh I'm upvoting you, no doubt about that, but I've also called the police

I think I'd rather eat the candles on top. Upvote.

What’s appetising about sugary play dough?

The little non-sugar taste that it does have is close to play dough taste. It’s a completely unappetising taste and texture.

Freshly made marshmallow fondant is about the least egregious of the fondants, and even then it doesn’t hold a candle to a delicately flavored almond buttercream or whipped cream.

I would rather eat the fork than fondant. Have a vote.

Finally, a 10th dentist take I can upvote.

Is it that crazy of a take? I hate all those options. Fresh whipped cream, ganashe and meringue are where it's at.

But I'll take a cheesecake with a compote or lemon curd over any kinda sponge cake.

This is an appalling take.

I don't like any type of frosting or icing, it's all too sickly sweet for me. I usually decline cake, except the illustrious pineapple upside-down cake.

I used to eat everyone's fondant when I was a kid. I'd save it for last so I could savour it. I absolutely agree with you.

Take my upvote; truly a good use of this sub!

fellow fondant vulture

its palatable only if its almost freezing which turns it into slightly shittier ice cream. Other than that its eh imo.

You get an upvote because this is truly an unpopular opinion.

Fondant is awful.

Wow you really are a degenerate, definitely upvote worthy

I do prefer buttercream but I love fondant too! the cake itself I can generally take or leave depending on the quality, but I'll eat the fondant any day.

I’ve had good fondant and bad fondant. Sadly, bad fondant is the majority.

I have always LOVED fondant. It really is the best part of a cake.

Respectfully, fondant tastes like what I imagine dog shit to taste like.

Edit: changing an autocorrect

I guess you could say you're fond of it.

Also upvoted because 1) this is the kind of post that's actually appropriate for this sub and 2) you a freak (in the kindest sense of the word)

u/kuribohchan 2d ago

I also love fondant. The chewiness is just on point 👌

1

u/mAmsSsSS 2d ago

I don’t know why people hate it so much, it really is the best part of a cake.

u/KikiCorwin 1d ago

Gag. Gimme white mountain or a good cream cheese frosting any day, though a nut-free version of that coconut/pecan icing would be awesome too.

u/dreamyduskywing 2d ago

Good post. Fondant is blech.

Why tho? It's just sugar. And it doesn't even taste good.
