These Latinos that voted for Trump didn’t need prior convincing or reassurances, they just needed an excuse from Trump to vote how they intended to from the beginning.

So this “betrayal” is just another excuse they are using as a scapegoat. They wanted everything Trump was promising. And they got it. Right to their front door.

u/fish_bowl_swimmer 25d ago

Agreed. I’ve worked with quite a few Latino Trump supporters, they looked up to the guy, thought he was great. Admired him.

There’s a lot of conservative minded Latinos who have rather right-winged outlook towards Latinos who are undocumented.

As a Florida Cuban-Mexican who fortunately didn’t get sucked down that side of things, I can attest to the accuracy.

29

u/Conscious-State5228 25d ago

Your Mexican side saved you.

19

u/YoungCubSaysWoof 25d ago

I don’t disagree!

I think the issue with genocide and justice from my Mexican-Native American side beat out my “we’re the bourgeoisie and we lost our gains and have to flee the island” issue from my Cuban side. 🤷

The latter is a very selfish thing to let excuse bigotry so good on you 👍🏿 many people fail that test.

Its like BLK MAGA😒 I lost friends BLK and YT over BLK MAGA movement. Even the ones that say to me. "I didn't think he would do this to us!" 🤡🍑🥷🏿 loose my number.

My homie is pretty much a white nationalist. He gets happy at deportation news. I remind him of all the things that are being done to pretty much bring back Jim crow and he always says “who cares”.

6

u/Dark_Mynch 24d ago

You still think he's your homie?

8

u/Clitoristorian 24d ago

Did I mention that this white nationalist is a black man? He is just more of my business partner at this point. I don’t bring up politics with him anymore. He’s a typical maga. He rejects information and uses the same yt supremacy talking points about pple like Kamala and Jasmine Crockett. I usually keep discourse civil but I got to the point when I just started calling him a dumbass to his face.

u/Independent-Cell-130 24d ago

Were they all homeschooled or something because the only way you vote conservative is you're old and just have no idea it's not the party of Lincoln anymore or uneducated.

7

u/Mobile-Balance-2075 25d ago

ummmm, I would direct you to the massive Mexican vote for trump in texas. They are not blameless.

2

u/Party-Evening3273 25d ago

Are they really “Mexican” though?

There are a lot of Mexican descendant people in Texas that don’t speak Spanish and get offended if you initiate a conversation in that language. You will get a, “I’m a Texan, not a Mexican!”, response from them. That Texas pride runs deep. They may look Mexican and are of Hispanic descent, but their politics are all traditional Texas.

u/charlesmaree 24d ago

I’m from Cali, this is inaccurate. Lolo!!

As a Florida native, I will say Cuban Americans vote conservative more than any other Latinos.

Carlos Gimenez is my Congressman, a Republican and he was born in Cuba. While his district is only the southwest portion of Miami-Dade and all of Monroe country(Florida Keys), he definitely has influenced a lot of fellow Cubans to for Republican, especially back when he was Mayor of Miami.

16

u/SnooCauliflowers9874 25d ago

Are they still looking up to him and thinking he’s great?

12

u/cocoahugo 25d ago

Yes. And some will still "boat" Repubs. They're loud about it.

16

u/PretentiousCrustacea 25d ago

As a lefty I have been ringing this alarm bell to my side for many years and always get shouted down. You do not want mass Latinos coming into our country because they are overwhelmingly Conservative and will vote accordingly. They do not care that our side welcomes them in they are culturally Conservative and that will be their voting guide

13

u/AdmirableElephant378 25d ago

It's so blindingly obvious. They are absolutely right wing pull up the ladder voters.

3

u/Sasquatch1729 24d ago

It's the same in Canada. We've had a real blue shift because a lot of Muslim and South Asian immigrants vote conservative. They mostly move to big liberal cities, and their votes get washed out by the locals and second generation immigrants (who vote in line with the national average), but the overall percentage of conservative voters has been trending upwards.

It's a tough issue. You don't want to be excluding/filtering people based on their background or ideology/religion, but the trend is there.

u/OlympianHeroOfTime 24d ago

As a Latina I agree, I try to talk to my family about what’s happening here and the older generations are so excited the Dems lost because “how dare they try to make a woman president”, or, my favorite I heard from my grandma, knowing I’m bisexual, “I don’t like Kamala or Hilary, they’re out there supporting the gays and their marriage, it’s an abomination”. Thanks grandma, I hope all your friends up here got deported immediately since they were out there campaigning for Trump.

Let’s not forget Latinos aren’t only conservatives, they’re VERY religious, my family is full of Catholics and I couldn’t hate the religion more

1

u/PretentiousCrustacea 24d ago

The Catholic Church protects pedophiles

2

u/OlympianHeroOfTime 24d ago

I know that, I grew up in it, it’s one of the reasons I left

2

u/Full-Honeydew-4898 24d ago edited 24d ago

And oddly the far right don’t like them. You would think the Christian far right would welcome them in with open arms.

1

u/Massive-Lime7193 24d ago

Didn't mexico just elect a socialist woman to head office last year? Latino voters are socially conservative but overwhelmingly economically leftists (not even liberals). Had the democratic party (harris) put some populist left econimic policies on her platform she could have easily won that demographic in a landslide. But nope, that would upset her donors....

8

u/Lego_Red_Kudu 25d ago

Latinos make up a large minority of ICE Agents too.

Putting aside the overwhelmingly obvious racism and public ties to white nationalists, what I cannot understand — and not just them, anyone — is how can they listen to him speak for even thirty seconds and not immediately understand that he is thunderously stupid, and quite literally does not KNOW anything. How do they not instantly see how stupid he is? How? What are they HEARING when he speaks? Especially since I guarantee you that most of them are less stupid than he is.

2

u/jackina6 24d ago

“….how can they listen to him speak for even thirty seconds and not immediately understand that he is thunderously stupid, and quite literally does not KNOW anything. How do they not instantly see how stupid he is? How? What are they HEARING?”
Truly one of the universe’s great mysteries? How indeed?

u/gambit1999999 25d ago

Buzz words!

Anyone remember CRT?

3

u/JayEllGii 25d ago

Before DEI there was woke. Before woke there was CRT. Before CRT there was PC. And parallel to PC there was…….CRT 1.0. (which nobody seems to remember).

1

u/gambit1999999 25d ago

I hate that the right wingers all communicate kn what buzzword is gonna be used. The left dont talk to each other or the corp dems want to kick progressives out because they actually want to change things

u/samwise58 25d ago

I work with a white lady with a Hispanic husband. She constantly “jokes” about how she wishes they would offer that $1000 bounty and that she’d give em a list of names and addresses. She thinks they wouldn’t bother her hard working business owning husband at all.

Everyone just gets quiet. No one wants to argue with the deeply Christian wife.

1

u/Legitimate_Doubt1375 24d ago

They will come for him eventually.

1

u/jackina6 24d ago

Maybe ICE needs to know about her possibly illegal hubby? Keep America white!!

3

u/Secret_perv 25d ago

Same for Iranians.

1

u/Mobile-Balance-2075 25d ago

And Vietnamese

3

u/TheLesbianBandit 25d ago

Why do right wing Latinos exist? Like historically why?

5

u/InstructionLeading64 25d ago

I got answers for you. So cuban Latinos in Florida? Alot of them are the descended from plantation slave owners. Ana Navarro? You know the "moderate" cable news lady? Yeah her dad was on a Nicaraguan death squad. You see the united states of America has invested heavily into funding far right wing opposition in every country in Latin America. Like they are heavily propagandized. Do you think the socialist Venezuelans are leaving Venezuela? Fuck no. Also Latin America is hard-core into Christianity, like bro they love some fundamentalism. They got actual fucking miracle shrines that they think angels have blessed.

Man, I used to have a coworker that was black Dominican like super heavy accent and he was not like anti black but would correct other black coworkers for referring to him as black instead of Dominican even though he is definitely black. Dude got absolutely roasted for it. Movers are wild shit talkers on good days.

u/whythefuckalready 25d ago

Just can't make these people happy. They got everything they wanted and still complain. Can't they just enjoy their moment.

21

u/bradlees 25d ago

They are professional victims

It’s the only way they can feel anything

As a Texan, this is too soon. 9/11 memes are fine but you keep Selena out your feed!

6

u/walledgardening 25d ago

Texans use the n-word like toddlers use ketchup.

2

u/DarreylDeCarlo 25d ago

How is it too soon when 9/11 is more soon than when Selena died?

-2

u/DarreylDeCarlo 25d ago

9/11 happened after Selena got shot, almost a decade, so if Selena is too soon then so is 9/11

11

u/Your_Mom_Bot42 25d ago

1

u/DarreylDeCarlo 25d ago

Did it though? Or am I just continuing the joke?

Phuck..... I got double wooshed...

Nice.

u/Dapper_Jicama4848 25d ago edited 25d ago

Too soon? Selena died in March of 1995, 31 years ago, almost 6 years before 9/11

5

u/Common_Ad_7610 25d ago

That's so cold.

2

u/Swimming_Type_8298 24d ago

That's one of hardest political memes of late.

You don’t like the dinner. Don’t forget the meatballs.
