These Latinos that voted for Trump didn’t need prior convincing or reassurances, they just needed an excuse from Trump to vote how they intended to from the beginning.

So this “betrayal” is just another excuse they are using as a scapegoat. They wanted everything Trump was promising. And they got it. Right to their front door.

Agreed. I’ve worked with quite a few Latino Trump supporters, they looked up to the guy, thought he was great. Admired him.

There’s a lot of conservative minded Latinos who have rather right-winged outlook towards Latinos who are undocumented.

As a lefty I have been ringing this alarm bell to my side for many years and always get shouted down. You do not want mass Latinos coming into our country because they are overwhelmingly Conservative and will vote accordingly. They do not care that our side welcomes them in they are culturally Conservative and that will be their voting guide

It's so blindingly obvious. They are absolutely right wing pull up the ladder voters.

It's the same in Canada. We've had a real blue shift because a lot of Muslim and South Asian immigrants vote conservative. They mostly move to big liberal cities, and their votes get washed out by the locals and second generation immigrants (who vote in line with the national average), but the overall percentage of conservative voters has been trending upwards.

It's a tough issue. You don't want to be excluding/filtering people based on their background or ideology/religion, but the trend is there.

As a Latina I agree, I try to talk to my family about what’s happening here and the older generations are so excited the Dems lost because “how dare they try to make a woman president”, or, my favorite I heard from my grandma, knowing I’m bisexual, “I don’t like Kamala or Hilary, they’re out there supporting the gays and their marriage, it’s an abomination”. Thanks grandma, I hope all your friends up here got deported immediately since they were out there campaigning for Trump.

Let’s not forget Latinos aren’t only conservatives, they’re VERY religious, my family is full of Catholics and I couldn’t hate the religion more

The Catholic Church protects pedophiles

I know that, I grew up in it, it’s one of the reasons I left

And oddly the far right don’t like them. You would think the Christian far right would welcome them in with open arms.

Didn't mexico just elect a socialist woman to head office last year? Latino voters are socially conservative but overwhelmingly economically leftists (not even liberals). Had the democratic party (harris) put some populist left econimic policies on her platform she could have easily won that demographic in a landslide. But nope, that would upset her donors....
